Chương 39: The Tribe of Golden Mane Lions

One day later...

Seth and his group traveled quickly between the place where they had met the lion Kion and the home of the Golden Mane Lion Tribe.

By now, they had disembarked from the flying boat Seth had built and landed near a water spring on top of a mountain.

"Please, seniors, follow me." Kion led the way while Seth and his friends could already see several lions and lionesses watching the new arrivals.

Roars erupted as the lions realized that they weren't facing enemies but Kion, one of the strongest elders of this small tribe.

After a few moments of Kion running ahead of Seth's group and the lions and lionesses approaching them, the two groups came face to face.

"Old Kion, what happened?" A lioness who must have been of a lower level than Kion asked.

"Hunters." Kion was short with his words. "If it hadn't been for the seniors, I would be dead, and the future of the tribe would have been thrown into the mud."

"Seniors?" A lion of the same level as the lioness looked at the humans behind Kion.

Seth and his friends had curious looks on their faces as they watched these beautiful creatures.

On the Giant Island, they would never have the chance to interact with such beasts. For some reason, the beasts on the island didn't talk to them. On the other hand, the tribe treated the beasts as mere animals that could be their pets, playmates, hunting targets, and food sources.

The kind of relationship they could have on the continent differed greatly from what they experienced back home.

Kion said to his companions, "Don't worry. These seniors don't want any trouble. They've come to protect me and make sure I survive."

"And why would they do that?" Asked an old lion, his fur faded from the long time he had lived.

"That..." Kion had thought about it several times but hadn't had the courage to question Seth's group.

They had helped him by killing the four hunters and then agreed to accompany him there. On the other hand, they were strong enough to kill him or even force him to take them there. Because of these things, he felt the risk of them having bad intentions was minimal. But he really couldn't explain their motivation.

Seth laughed when he heard this and decided to explain things to these beasts. "I brought Kion here for two reasons.

First, those hunters looked at us like some ancient enemies of my people. Since I was already involved, I decided to give Kion what he wanted.

Second, Kion made me think of my destroyed tribe. Your situation would be no different from that of my people. But while I couldn't do anything to prevent the end of my tribe members, I can help you avoid that terrible fate."

"Senior O'Brian..." Kion looked at Seth differently, not expecting someone so strong to say such things.

The old lion looked at Seth and felt this was the pure truth. This person had no ill intentions and had truly done a good deed without expecting anything in return.

"You... You're different from other people." The old lion murmured as he approached Seth and smelled the young man's unique scent.

Seth smelled of adventure, power, loyalty, and trust but also of kindness and selflessness.

'These people have complicated stories.' The old lion looked at Seth's companions, who had smiles, but their eyes showed the tragedy they had been through.

They were clearly strong, but they had also lost everything they had.

"Come with me, seniors." The old lion said to them all. "I will show you around the tribe and prepare something to eat."

"Prepare something?" Levi looked at Atlas strangely.

What could the lions offer them to eat?

Kion laughed as they all walked towards the interior of the Golden Mane Lion tribe.

Soon, the group came to a small place where the lions lived in small caves and socialized on the highest point of the mountain, where there were few trees and a lot of undergrowth.

"We eat meat, Senior Traverse. As much as we can eat raw meat, like animals, we can also use spices and cook what we eat," Kion explained.

"Oh? I didn't know lions could do that."

Soon, the group met several other lions and sat around a large fire where the lionesses cooked for them.

The old lion then said to Seth's people while he couldn't help but look with interest at the chain around Seth's neck. "This old man here is called Raja. Seniors, may I ask where you are from? I see that one of you has a rather fantastic piece of jewelry. It's not from an ordinary place."

"This?" Seth showed the necklace around his neck, something he'd had since birth, a gift from the old First Elder Elijah.

Raja shook his large head in agreement. "Hmm, that's an old and valuable jewel, Senior. Didn't you know that? If its location is known, I think a new War of the Titans would occur in Ihaes."

"The War of the Titans?" Dax asked, having never heard of it in all his and his companions' experiences on Ihaes so far.

"You don't know?" Kion asked.

"We come from a community that was quite isolated," Atlas told the lions. "There are things we don't know about the continent."

Raja explained. "Well, the War of the Titans took place tens of thousands of years ago. At that time, the continent's rulers were known as the Titans. And as the name implies, they were huge, with powers capable of destroying these lands.

The 10 sects led by the then Titans discovered a very valuable item after an old expert died, and his secrets escaped their organization.

Then a hunt unlike any other in the history of Ihaes was unleashed, marking the end of an era."

He pointed at Seth's neck with one of his paws and said. "Because of an item like that, 8 of the continent's strongest experts died in the war that lasted more than 100 years until its end.

That was only the most superficial damage. The continent was in flames during that era, and countless innocent lives were lost.

Sigh... Our ancestors almost died as well. So be careful, seniors. We live in lands where one cannot publicly hold much wealth."
