Chương 29: 10 Plates Of Power

The team leader laughs and sighs in relief.

Daisuki: "I guess that's a relaxing thing to hear, especially from someone your age.You're not wrong Saku, just because someone has a 2nd Stage power, doesn't mean that power is a viable option for self defense or the opposite, for offensive attacks. The true equalizer, whether guns or IceEyes are the variable..."

He puts his pointer finger to his head.

Daisuki: "...is the human brain and how one uses it to achieve victory and survive. Just how early humans learned the durability of certain minerals, how to shape those minerals, and how to correctly hunt,farm,and put themselves above 'wild animals' and achieve the comfortable 1st world life the ones before us set in motion."

Shelly raises her hand.

Shelly: "Has anybody gone past the 2nd stage with their IceEye?"

Daisuki(smiles): "Not yet little missy, our research has thought about it, and the fact humans can use 'super powers' that were seen only as fiction, leaves all imaginable options both scientific and philosophical open... (points at Shelly) ...but after learning about your impressive natural skills as well as witnessing first hand the gap between you and the other 'HFF Beast', you could probably become the first one while giving everyone else a head start."

Saku gets offended but to be considered at least one of the beasts, he quickly pretends he didn't hear it.

Shelly gets shy and puts a hand over her eye.

Shelly: "I'll never want one, Sensei. I have my mothers eyes and I never want to get rid of either of them."

Katsu feels bad, just like any time Shelly brings up her mother or father. Saku's arrogance ruins the mood of the room.

Saku: "Can we go eat now!? I was told you'd feed my dog if I showed up.(His stomach growls and he blushes) Besides, if you're gunna force me to learn, at least let me eat while you try."

Daisuki smiles at his new responsibilities and turns around.

Daisuki: "Ok! Let's eat!"

The 3 disciples and mirror girl, watch as the portal begins to open again and the sounds of dishes and chatter can be heard again. The Peeper inside the mirror is giggling behind her hand.

Platinum Hair: "They're only going out to eat. Teeheehee. That must be fun, being able to quickly go somewhere in seconds."

Once the hole gets to about window size it stops growing.

Daisuki waves his hands to signal them without breaking concentration on the wall,

Daisuki:"One by one I have to go last."

Shelly(realizes): "Hold on! If you can basically teleport, how come you've been late to everything so far?!"

Katsu, not hearing her in his excitement, runs towards the hole in the wall.

Katsu:"I'm first!"

Shelly on his tail.

Shelly:"Katsu be careful!"

Saku watches his old friend in amazement of his trust towards this man who was a stranger to all of them just yesterday.

Katsu jumps and clips his foot on the bottom of the hole as he goes through. He can be heard landing hard from the other side.

Platinum Hair sees it and laughs hysterically falling and kicking her feet in the air.

Shelly does a gymnastic cartwheel into a front flip, cleanly through.

Shelly(from the other side):"KATSU ARE YOU OK!? WHAT DID I TELL YOU!?"

Saku chuckles and Friend "ruffs", he looks at his dog and nods his head towards the hole

Saku:"Let's go bud. Up!"

The dog jumps cleanly through the hole and Katsu can be heard from the other side.

Katsu:"Ahh!! His thing brushed my cheek!!

Friend(other side):"Ruff! Ruff!"

Before Saku follows he looks back at Daisuki. The man breaks concentration which makes the hole start to close.

Daisuki(in high spirits): "I could get used to this."

Saku window hops through the hole and lands into the storage closet of a restaurant. He turns around and sees Daisuki coming towards the slowly closing portal and the mysterious woman peeking from inside the mirror. He gets narrow eyed in suspicion but he doesn't say anything and just moves out of the way for his mentor. The leader and most experienced fighter of the group also clips his foot while hopping through the opening making him land on his face. Katsu, being taken care of by Shelly, laughs.

Katsu:"Haha! You didn't need to do that for me Big Bro but I appreciate you trying to make me feel less embarrassed."

Daisuki gets up and laughs along.

Daisuki:"You got me, haha. I guess I don't have to worry about your humility, aye Katsu?"

Shelly and Saku still aren't buying it.Friend gives a sneeze.

[Setting] In a busy restaurant. Silverware on plates is heard clicking and clacking. People are eating, talking, and laughing while waiters and waitresses do their job.

Sitting alone at two tables put together and full of food is a huuuuge young man with orange eyes, 7 feet and 9 inches tall, 420+lbs and he is relentlessly finishing dish after dish. A cute 18 year old waitress with the name tag "Autumn" comes up to the table and places a rack of ribs down.

Autumn: "Fillin' up for your first excursion trip tomorrow Taytay?"

The giant nods his head with a mouth full of food.

Autumn: "Just be safe out there Taylor. It's almost funny how strong you actually are, but like every human you're not invincible. Make sure you find friends Tay. Not just to help you fight but to fill a table not just with food."

Taylor nods his head again while wiping his mouth with it full of food, breathing hard and fast through his nostrils.

Autumn: "How bout you slow down and breath the air in not the food Tay."

Squad 40 is sitting in a private room with a sign "Reserved for Military Family Use" on the right of the doorway. The room has two halves, a lower level with a table, no chairs but pillows and mats to sit and relax on. There is a step up level with sofa facing a wall and a ceiling fan above the couch.

All the boys can be seen eating and tearing at steaks as if in a competition for most completely empty plates.

Daisuki {4 plates}

Katsu {3 plates}

Saku {3 plates(Katsu will claim cheating) }

Shelly, uninterested in their immaturity, is behind Katsu and petting Friend calmly while the pup munches on a bone with meat pieces left on that Saku snuck him.

Friend {1 entire t-bone steak}

Shelly {10 plates}

Her hand goes through his soft fur as she talks to Friend/herself,

Shelly: "It feels so calming. Running my fingers through your soft fur Baby Boy. I'm glad we're friends like this instead of hostile like before."

Breaking up her inner peace, Daisuki can be heard.

Daisuki:"Oii! Old man! More booze for me and soda for the kiddos!"

Saku with a mouth full of food.

Saku:"I'm not a kid! I just don't drink booze cuz it tastes gross."

Daisuki laughs hysterically.

Katsu chugging his drink, finishes and falls to his back with a relieving exhale and a smile.

Katsu looks up at a red faced Shelly. She has tears in her eyes but she's smiling. A tear falls onto Katsu's cheek. Before he can wipe it off, Shelly's hand softly touches his cheek and slowly wipes it off.

Shelly:"It's been a while since you've looked so happy. Your mom and dad would be happy to see you like this more."

Katsu smiles back at her words.

Daisuki gets up slowly and stretches his back,

Daisuki:"I really gotta take a piss. I'll be back."

He leaves in a hurry without putting his shoes back on. Friend curls up next to Saku as he looks at his two squadmates and hears the way they talk to each other. He asks,

Saku:"So are you two like, actually dating or something? What's the d-"

A sitting pillow hits him directly in the face and he somersaults twice backwards. Friend barks awake in surprise.

Shelly, bright red and standing up, is the clear culprit of who threw it.

Shelly:"W-w-why would you ask that?! It's not that I'm in love with Katsu. I mean he is the most important person to-"

Shelly slowly turns to see a confused Katsu, mouth full of steak, staring at her reaction to the question. She starts tearing up like a child from the embarrassment by her inability to explain herself.

Daisuki comes back from the bathroom and hears the crying of a young lady. As he enters the special military dining room. He sees Katsu petting Shelly's head softly, while she fights back tears and Saku is rubbing his red nose in anger.

Daisuki:"What I miss?"
