"Dad, Wei'er," Xu Meili's tears flowed non-stop as she saw her family.
"Mom, how did you become like this?"
Lan Ruowei was shocked upon seeing Xu Meili's pale face, her eyes filled with bloodshot veins, and her thin figure.
"I'm okay," Xu Meili weakly reassured, casting a glance at the police officer standing by the door.
"Mom, are you really okay?"
Lan Ruowei looked skeptical. She pulled Xu Meili's arm towards herself to inspect her mother closely. However, Xu Meili let out a cry of pain.
"Mom, what happened to you? Have they been hitting you?"
Without saying another word, Lan Ruowei lifted Xu Meili's clothes, revealing a body covered with fresh bruises—worse than the last time she saw her.
Her clear eyes filled with rage.
"No, I wasn't careful and fell," Xu Meili quickly covered herself, avoiding Lan Ruowei's angry gaze.
She couldn't forget the police officers' warnings—if she dared to talk, Wei'er would suffer.
"Fell? How did you fall?"
