In less than ten minutes, all five mechs had been wiped out, and Ajax's terrifying display of absolute dominance over the battlefield and defeat of five enemy mechs boosted the morale of all of the nearby operators.
More than half of the 500 people brought by the Hell's League were killed, Ajax had killed six mechs and Bomen had killed two, so now only four of the original twelve mechs remained. The Hell's League had found themselves in a pincer attack, with a shitshow of a formation and fuck-all coordination.
As for Lazoole Society, although their numbers were inferior to those of the mechs, Ajax's strategic attack inspired courage in the operators. This was the role and value of an excellent pilot, they have the ability to influence the battlefield with their attacks and boost their comrades' morale.
The commander of the Hell's League was in a mixture of shock and awe. In just a few minutes, the mechs that he had ordered to stop the enemy were all destroyed. But before he could think any further, Ajax started attacking them again, causing more casualties for them.
They were in a very tough spot right now, Bomen and his men in the camp relied on Hesco Bastions and buildings for cover, making it difficult to kill them as they would just change positions. Seeing Ajax destroy his mechs one after the other, the commander's heart wavered.
He then made a bold decision to order everyone on his side to stop attacking the camp and turn around to face Ajax and the rescue team. Their strength was only enough to deal with one enemy at a time, if they continued to attack the exhausted and injured forces inside the cam, then they would be killed for sure by Ajax and the rescue team.
He could tell that Ajax was the bigger threat between the two. The camp lacked the heavy firepower that Ajax was providing, only serving as a delaying tactic. If Ajax and the others could be killed, then they would have no trouble taking down the camp.
Ajax raised his hand to signal the operators behind him to stop and took cover behind a destroyed truck. He knew that this was the last of the attacking Hell's League's forces.
The operatives obeyed Ajax's command, they stopped, found places to take cover, and began opening fire on the remaining members of the Hell's League.
"I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL HIM!" Exclaimed the pilot of the Hell's League in control of the Rakshasa-Level mech as he ran past his commander, staring daggers at Ajax.
He was their best pilot and also the only remaining Roscoe-type mech left on the side of the Hell's League. He had been attacking the camp just now, killing over 30 people, and was also the one responsible for injuring Bomen's mech with his missiles.
But the common problem with long-range mechs is that they can only support allies and suppress enemies; they can't occupy or defend strategic points. Hearing his teammates scream as they were slaughtered really pissed him off. Especially when he heard that Ajax was responsible for killing them single-handedly. How could a team of hundreds of people be killed by a single lone mech?
His back armor opened and four armor-piercing homing missiles locked onto Ajax, and fired. This was the kind of missile that cost 50,000 eddies a piece, and it could only be equipped on Roscoe-type mechs above the Rakshasa-Level. It had really high armor-piercing capabilities and could also lock onto and even shoot down airborne targets.
He had used two of them on Bomen earlier, and now he was using all four of them on Ajax, intending to kill him in a single strike.
Ajax had already left his cover and was in the middle of reloading his rifle when he looked up. He saw four missiles heading right for him. He subconsciously turned on his thrusters to change positions but the missiles also changed their trajectory, tracking him perfectly.
This was the first time that Ajax had encountered such a situation, so he was a little flustered and didn't really know what to do to counter it. It was already too late to find cover, so Ajax could only raise his arms in an attempt to protect his cockpit and endure the hit.
However, he knew very well in his heart that the Reaper did not have such a high defensive power and that these four missiles would definitely hit him hard. Moreover, his mech had not yet loaded the ejection capsule, so if his mech was penetrated, there was a high probability of death.
Just when Ajax's life started to flash before his eyes, the mech of the rescue team ran in front of him with his shields up.
"Boom!" Both mechs were covered in flames and shrapnel went everywhere.
When the air cleared, the rescue team's mech was severely damaged. Its cockpit had a ton of small holes and a couple of large ones. The pilot inside had several large holes where his stomach used to be, his right arm had been sliced off by a larger piece of shrapnel, blood flowed out of his mouth and nose, and his eyes were wide open.
Ajax's mech was barely even affected by the missiles, the rescue mech managing to take the brunt of the attack. He stared at the tragic situation of the pilot in front of him and was stunned.
He didn't know this man, he didn't even know his name, he had barely exchanged words with him except to give him orders, yet, this man had sacrificed himself for him...
The pilot of the Rakshasa-Level mech was enraged by the outcome. His missiles, worth nearly 200,000 eddies, were used to destroy a mech worth a little over 100,000 eddies.
It was the only chance to kill Ajax, now that he had no missiles, he could only raise his rifle and aim with the anti-material energy cannon attached to his back.
Feeling the bullets hitting him, Ajax withdrew from his trance. Staring at the Rakshasa-Level mech, his eyes turned red, and his left arm switched to the form of a 35mm Vulcan Cannon, ignoring the energy drain and unleashing hell on the mech. He also used his rifle with his right arm and fired as he advanced.
(TN: decided to change it from 15mm to 35mm Vulcan Cannon because I just realized that it doesn't make sense for it to have something like a 15mm minigun as a main weapon)
Although separated by hundreds of meters, most of Ajax's attacks accurately hit the cockpit of the Rakshasa-Level mech.
The pilot in the Rakshasa-Level mech also hit Ajax a few times, but they were all glancing blows below the breastplate. His cockpit lit up red with warnings, causing him to retreat. This allowed Ajax to get a few well-placed shots on the Rakshasa-Level mech's knee, causing it to break off, and losing its ability to move.
The pilot inside quickly ejected as his mech was shredded. He was able to run to cover and when he was about to reach his comrades he was turned into a cloud of pink mist and paste. Ajax had already locked onto him and would not let him live.
"MAD DOG!" Seeing the evaporation of their ace pilot, the people of Hell's League screamed out his name. They then proceeded to look at each other with horror on their faces.
The remaining three mechs were also shocked as Ajax just stood there. They were melee mechs, but they did not have the courage of going over and fighting him, after all, they just watched the Rakshasa-Level mech that was piloted by their ace get turned to Swiss cheese by this unknown mech. Not to mention, this single mech toyed around with 2 Knight-Level mechs and 2 Parallax-Level mechs just before this.
So what could they do with just 3 mechs? Two of which were Knight-Level mechs while the other was a lone Parallax-Level mech? The commander of the Hell's League was at a loss. He didn't know where Ajax came from, but he was too strong.
Ajax, who was still enraged at the loss of his comrade, would not give these people the time to be dazed. He fired every single one of his weapons: The 35mm Vulcan on his left arm, the 20mm Vulcan on his mech's nape, the 2 machine guns on his shoulders, and his rifle, unleashing a hurricane of bullets and blue lasers on the shocked enemies. Any target he set his sights on was quickly pulverized, allowing the defending camp forces to launch a counterattack with the help of Ajax and the remaining members of the rescue team.
