Chương 346: Chapter 346: The Center of Attention

Of course, mere words and this display are definitely not enough to frighten a demon of this caliber.

However, York expressed his strong will.

"Go back."

Surprisingly, facing the seventh of the seventy-two demon gods in hell, a marquis who even controls forty legions of hell, the system finally issued him a mission.

[...]

[Condition met: Trigger random mission, demon manifestation]

[Mission requirement: Eliminate or expel]

[Mission reward: +55 attribute points]

[...]

This was certainly an unexpected joy, and it let York know exactly what level this seventy-two pillar demon god's strength was pegged at.

If his previous estimates for such missions were correct, where each point of reward was worth ten thousand, then this reward of 55 attribute points indicated that the demon named Amon in front of him had reached a strength of 550,000.

That was far stronger than the previous melee demon who manifested in reality, which only had 330,000 points.

So, with just 550,000 strength, York, who possessed several million, naturally had to seriously undertake this mission.

[Mission successfully accepted]

Hearing the response beside his ear, York looked towards the building in front of him where Ryanne slowly walked across the air as if on flat ground.

"Annoying presence," Ryanne said calmly, seated in a chair.

Her words startled Drew, who was still sitting on the floor, prompting him to instinctively follow Ryanne's gaze.

Unfortunately, he only saw a plain wall and the specially prepared prop window meant to explode at a specific moment.

The view outside was the same one he had been looking at during his live broadcasts.

It was dark with lights shooting into the sky.

The scenery was plain, after all, his building was located in the suburbs, which technically was part of an industrial area including residential dormitories.

He chose this location because of its cheap price and its not-so-distant proximity from the city center, hence setting up his broadcast here.

It is worth mentioning that this was a great spot found by the now-vanished Mark.

At the time, he even complimented it, though it seems there was an ulterior motive.

Drew, prepared to accept judgment, greedily watched the outside scenery as if it were the most beautiful he had ever seen.

But why, he saw a figure slowly walking towards him in the air.

Behind the figure was the darkness of the night, and importantly, the figure in the air seemed to glow.

Drew's face showed stupefaction; his brain couldn't quite catch up.

"Is this a hallucination before death? Or is this a person my subconscious made up?

Or is it that I long for and seek God's salvation?"

Drew's brain buzzed as he watched the glowing figure and managed a bitter smile.

Unknowingly, he felt that his end was near.

But suddenly, he could clearly see the appearance and attire of the figure approaching.

Tall and sturdy, from the very distinct lines, he knew this body must be very robust.

Thick and neatly arched eyebrows showed a trace of confidence and determination, a resolute and handsome face revealing endless wisdom and thoughtful consideration, eyes twinkling with a firm light, as if able to peer into the secrets and truths of people's hearts.

Also, the attire the person wore was familiar to him.

The solemn and artistically rich black robe, sleeves loose and hanging to the wrists, with lines of purple and gold.

This was the sacred robe typically worn by church bishops, the genuine robes he bought and this fabric were simply not on the same level, just the artistic flair and the smooth restrained material showed that his fake robe couldn't compare.

"Of course, it's a bishop from the church."

Due to various reasons, Drew immediately concluded that everything appearing before his eyes was a hallucination produced by his mind.

But suddenly, before Drew could sigh and bow his head, everything that abruptly happened in front of him once again left him in a stupefied state of disbelief.

In front of him, a large window along with the wall it was part of exploded into fragments.

This spectacular scene made Drew involuntarily open his mouth.

He didn't understand what was happening.

But York, who had already arrived in the broadcast hall, knew what was going on.

After his arrival, he had been subtly contending with the demon named Amon, even going so far as to retrieve the accumulated holy power from a divine incarnation left in the world of decay at a church.

The wall that suddenly exploded was the result of their covert struggle.

He looked at Ryanne, who was sitting in the chair, her face morphing into a grotesque expression, and smiled.

"I told you, you can go back."

With that, York parted the dense static fragments in the air, stepped on the ground, and in the next second, appeared before Drew, directly facing Ryanne in the chair.

This

 scene also appeared on camera.

York's sudden appearance caused a surge in viewership, with at least two million more tuning into the livestream, causing an uproar.

"Who is this?"

"Who is this guy?"

"Is this another person behind the scenes? He's very handsome and truly has presence, facing the demon directly."

"Something's off, I recognize the clothes this man is wearing."

"This is a bishop's robe from the church, meaning this man who suddenly appeared is a bishop."

"The guy before, are you serious or joking?"

"Wasn't this about judging Drew, the sinner? What's with the demon pulling this plot?"

"."

The comments exploded, and the atmosphere shifted dramatically, saying it all.

At the same time.

This scene was also seen by clergy in Los Angeles.

"Phew, Bishop York has appeared."

A monk squeezed among the priests, relieved in his heart.

At this moment, they were each holding a smartphone, watching.

From God's perspective, every recently calmed neighborhood had a group of clergy huddled together, gazing admiringly at the figure that seemed to stand tall against the heavens.

And on a chartered plane rushing over, Father Augustus and others were also intently watching the large screen in front of them.

"Bishop York," Archibald said as soon as he saw the figure filling the screen.

Since Bishop Romulo informed them, these clergy members supporting Los Angeles already knew that Bishop York, who had just returned, had taken over the case.

Surprisingly, as soon as they knew Bishop York had taken over, the tense and heavy atmosphere lingering on the plane changed instantly.

It felt like having someone to rely on, feeling very reassured, and this sense of security soared to its peak when this figure suddenly appeared in the livestream.

"Mom, look, Bishop York has appeared, you should know what I'm saying is true, right?"

In a luxurious room, Saxton, like a child, was extremely excited, his face flushed.

This voice fell in a room where a lady named Camille, who was preparing to sleep and now watching the livestream, said helplessly:

"Alright, alright, I know you're telling the truth, it seems Bishop York really has returned."

Just then, a young, crisp voice exclaimed.

"Mom!!! Bishop York!!!"

Bella, who had been frightened and hiding in Mrs. Camille's arms, suddenly screamed.

Her voice was very powerful, completely belying her earlier trembling question about what would happen to this man.

Mrs. Camille instinctively stared at the figure imprinted in her mind, which kept her tossing and turning every night, a light appearing in her eyes.

At the same time.

A tall and elegant girl sat in a chair, looking at the science textbooks in front of her, stretched a lazy waist, and spoke in a complaining tone.

"Grandpa Bill, did you also study these back in your day?"

As if chatting with someone, the sound made the space seem a bit eerie.

Because there was only the girl in the room, so who was she talking to?

If someone were present, they would find it quite creepy.

But the girl then spoke again as if indeed someone was chatting with her.

"Oh, is that so, since it's important, I'll try harder."

Just then, the girl seemed to see something, put her finger to her lips, and looked at the side where an ethereal old man seemed to stand and hushed a sound.

"My sister is coming up with a tablet, but by her expression, she seems to have something to tell me."

"Janet! Janet!" The next second, a voice calling out and the sound of footsteps on the stairs rose as Margaret, the eldest sister of the Paige family, ran up and appeared before Janet, handing her the tablet.

"Look what I found?"

Janet's eyes glanced at the old man and with a puzzled look, she turned to the tablet screen.

"Don't tell me, it's another one of your so-called exorcism livestreams, I've told you before, those livestreams are fake."

However, her words abruptly stopped, Janet widened her eyes and stared at the figure in the livestream, uttering a phrase that made Margaret see the invisible old man shiver.

"Bishop York?"

In the living room of a villa.

The Warren couple was sitting in front of a small, frail-looking elderly woman with a very kindly face, chatting about something.

"Mrs. Ellis, I believe the church will recognize your mediumship abilities, which will make things a bit easier for you," Lorraine said with a gentle smile.

The elderly woman in front of her was a respected predecessor, whose mediumship abilities were not far off from her own. In the industry, the old woman was very powerful.

This time, the old woman had come to seek the church's recognition and to be officially recorded, so she sought out this

 couple familiar with the church.

"Thank you for your help," Mrs. Ellis said warmly.

"If there's anything, you can also call me to help, but as it happens, I've recently encountered some problems."

The Warren couple exchanged smiles, they were indeed ready for a break.

Just then, their assistant Drew came hurriedly with a tablet, interrupting the conversation, saying,

"Mr. Ed, the livestream you asked me to keep an eye on has some issues. I was too lazy to watch the previous fake antics, so I waited until now to look, but do you know, Bishop York has actually appeared in this livestream!"

As he rambled on, everyone was shocked, Ed immediately disregarded the conversation, snatched Drew's tablet, and as Mrs. Ellis and Lorraine leaned over, he looked at the familiar figure and murmured.

"It's really Bishop York, what exactly happened?"

As the livestream coincidentally came to the attention of many people connected to York, including the well-rested Warren couple.

Far in New York, an elderly man who should have been resting was watching the big screen, seeing York appear in the livestream, and said to the hundreds of little screens in front of him with a relaxed smile.

"Look, the young man is really capable, to be honest, with such a presence, he's fully qualified to become a new symbol of our church."

As he finished speaking, a voice came through on the screen, seemingly moved by the livestream.

"Times have really changed, this livestream including these comments has shown us some things, to be honest, we old-timers should step aside."

"A new era, a new epoch, right? Technology is advancing, and we've seen the spread of information, this Drew, although an ordinary person, his exorcism process was all correct, and these comments show that what used to be very mysterious about exorcisms is no longer a secret."

"Hehe, anyway, I've found a successor and am ready to retire to enjoy the rest of my life with a relaxed mind."

"Bishop Peter, you're really quick, you must have been prepared for a long time, I am too."

"Hehe, we've done so much for the church and humanity, it's time to enjoy."

One after another, gentle voices sounded, and Bishop Romulo looked at York, unable to help but show a tender smile.

"How about, we take this opportunity to unveil the church's mysterious veil, reveal the real cases to humanity, let them know the true face of demons, stand in the forefront?"

As he spoke, the discussion briefly fell silent.

In this brief calm, a frail voice sounded.

"Now that people have come to know the truth of this world, there's no need to keep our actions secret,

humanity should know everything we've done, know what this world faces, know the role the church has played, know who we've sacrificed at the front lines, and know who has been sacrificed."

The room fell silent, with only voices of agreement.

If York had been there, he would have recognized the voice.

The Vatican.

An old man finished speaking, looked at the livestream in front of him, then turned to Bishop Cecil standing beside the bed and said.

"What do you think, can York win?"

Pope Gregory, who had been lying in a coma, surprisingly woke up, his demeanor seemingly spirited, as if he had just had a good rest.

"Your Holiness, from the cases involving York, I can only come to one conclusion,"

Bishop Cecil looked at the screen and smiled.

"York won't lose to a subordinate of Belial, even if it is one of the seventy-two demon gods."

Hearing this, Pope Gregory showed a mysterious smile.

In a moment, this ordinary exorcism livestream had unexpectedly become the center of attention across the globe.

"Who are you!"

At this point, in front of all the viewers, Ryanne no longer had the appearance of having everything under control, but stared intently at the man in front of her and said in a deep voice.

In her view, this man was entirely a bundle of painfully bright light.

York smiled without responding to her question, simply pulling out the cross hanging around his neck, using telekinesis to lift the heavy Bible from the ground to his hands, and said.

"I am York John, a plain and simple bishop of the church, appointed on December 25th last year, and from now on, the real exorcism livestream begins."

His calm voice traveled through the livestream to all the viewers, causing the comments section to climax, rotating faster than ever before.

Chương 347: Chapter 347: The Conclusion

The audience watching the livestream experienced a climax.

But Drew, who was present at the scene and could feel everything, was somewhat stunned.

Despite all his expectations, he had never imagined things would unfold this way.

This moment was the most thrilling and magical day of his life.

Who else had a fake exorcism livestream turn real, with a real demon appearing and then a real bishop turning up to take charge?

Yes, in his eyes, the man standing before him radiated an aura he could not comprehend.

"Sacred!" The word suddenly flashed through Drew's mind.

A quality that Mark certainly did not possess.

"Human, you underestimate me!" Ryanne bellowed.

"I will make you die!"

The anger in her voice startled Drew, waking him from his stupor.

His head buzzed, the background before his eyes dissolved, and all he could see was the engulfing darkness.

It seemed like the whole world went silent, so quiet that he felt he was the only one left.

At that moment, while he still couldn't comprehend the situation, a calm voice spoke.

"Underestimate? It's not that I underestimate you, but in my presence, you are as insignificant as an ant."

With these words, Drew suddenly found he could see again.

His senses returned; before him stood the towering figure of the bishop, pressing a crucifix against Ryanne's forehead as his hearing also came back.

He witnessed an unbelievable scene.

The fourth floor where he was located had become a rooftop.

Around him were countless pieces of debris, frozen mid-air.

Drew, present at the scene, was puzzled by this development.

But the audience watching the livestream all called it a miracle.

They clearly saw the upper part of the building explode in an instant, transforming into the scene before them.

"Is this some kind of miraculous power from a movie? Incredible!"

"Such a sci-fi moment, I can't understand what's happening."

"It's clear that this bishop named York John is clashing with the demon, and this transformation is the result of their powers colliding."

"Are all exorcisms this dangerous? Do all priests possess this kind of power?"

"It's truly dangerous; the entire upper structure exploded, indicating that this power could be lethal to humans too, pulverizing them like it did the building."

"No wonder the priest I often visited suddenly disappeared one day; he must have been involved in an exorcism."

"Why is Drew unharmed?"

"It must be the bishop's power protecting him, and likely the livestream equipment too, otherwise, this livestream would have been destroyed."

The comments section was buzzing.

Meanwhile, York continued his confrontation with the demon.

If someone could communicate with spirits or utilize mediumship,

They would see a spectacular scene of black and white clashing above.

"Humans!!!"

Perhaps feeling that her powers were ineffective against the clergyman before her, Ryanne roared in frustration.

Ignoring the burning on her forehead and the smoke rising from it, her hands, which had been resting on the armrests, now broke free from what she considered flimsy handcuffs.

With a snap, the handcuffs shattered.

Ryanne stared intently at the human before her, her claw-like hands reaching viciously towards his neck.

She intended to literally break his neck, killing this human who greatly infuriated and disgusted her.

But just as she was about to grasp him, she found she couldn't control her hands; they froze in mid-air as if bound by some invisible force, as if the entire space had solidified.

"Sit nicely, continue playing your part," York said indifferently.

Dominating the scene, his powerful telekinesis pressed down on Ryanne's hands, forcing them back into place.

The remaining telekinetic energy formed a set of transparent handcuffs, unlike the previous ones, robust and tenacious, from which Ryanne could not escape.

The chair itself was also protected by a thick layer of York's psychic energy.

In no time, Ryanne, who had been able to use her demonic powers, was regressed to the first stage of possession.

This was an extreme humiliation for Amon, who was one of the seventy-two demon gods, ranked sixth and commanding forty legions of hell. Aside from her own master, when had she ever been looked down upon?

Never!

Now, for the first time, she felt belittled by a mere human! Her rage was as searing as volcanic magma.

"Roar!" Ryanne howled to the sky, her pupils turning a strange shade of red.

With her roar, the entire space shook violently.

The building trembled as if about to collapse, tilting and even descending.

A dark abyss appeared on the ground, perhaps a gaping maw rising from hell, devouring the entire block of buildings.

Viewers watching through a screen might not fully grasp the situation.

But Drew felt his head might explode, the pain causing him to cover his ears.

Yet he discovered it was futile. As he sat on the ground, he felt the floor slipping beneath him, sliding downwards uncontrollably.

Using his peripheral vision, now that the fourth floor had become a rooftop, he saw the surrounding buildings continuously collapsing.

This was just Drew's perspective. To the clergy who had just arrived on the outskirts, the entire area seemed to have been swallowed by the abyss.

"I told you, you are but a weak ant to me."

York shook his head, his body bursting with dazzling light that spread to match the size of the ground's abyss, forming a plane of cascading holy light.

"Ah! This is..."

Father Augustus and Archbishop Archibald, who had just arrived, stared at the spectacle, looking at the plane that seemed to replace the entire sky in their view, each taking a deep breath.

As clergymen, they could feel the overwhelming sanctity emanating from it.

The next second, the plane of light cascading from the sky slammed downwards through all the buildings, directly colliding with the abyss covering the ground.

With a snap, the devouring abyss on the ground, like darkness dispelled by light or avoiding it, rapidly receded.

Suddenly, the situation returned to calm.

Drew felt himself return to normal and instinctively looked outside.

Now, the cluster of buildings outside had all but disappeared, collapsed or collapsing, leaving only the building he was in still upright.

"This..." Drew instinctively turned to the bishop and Ryanne, who was still roaring.

"It's over," York stated calmly as he looked at the still-screaming Ryanne.

The Bible in his hands flipped pages on its own, eventually stopping on a particular chapter.

"Amon! Marquis of Flames, representing [the Hermit, the Inscrutable], your deeds are naked before our Lord, hidden nowhere."

Under the enhancement of holy power, Ryanne could no longer maintain her facade. Her face twisted in agony, struggling and emitting thick black smoke, but an invisible force firmly pressed her back into the chair.

This was similar to Drew's previous exorcism attempts, but now with the continual rise of black mist.

The audience watching the livestream sensed the difference between the two. They didn't understand why, but this time they knew the demon was in some kind of agony.

Everyone clearly heard the bishop's steady and resolute voice.

"In the most holy name of Jesus Christ, I command you with divine power, Amon, to disperse immediately! The darkness cannot withstand the glory of our Lord; I am a spokesperson of God, fighting for righteousness."

The voice echoed across the vacant rooftop, in Drew's ears, in the ears of the clergy outside, and through the livestream to all viewers.

As if another divine force flowed through his voice, everyone watched the young bishop with one hand on Ryanne's forehead and the other holding the Bible, including the woman struggling in pain on the chair. At that moment, it seemed they witnessed eternity.

Power and faith were dancing.

A mantle of divine light enveloped the young bishop.

"We know: 'For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.'"

"Amon, you are a devil of evil, and through the almighty power of our Lord and the hands of Jesus Christ, I will see you and your legions destroyed, cast into the abyss to never rise again!"

His voice was loud and filled with divine energy. For the first time, Ryanne emitted a painful scream, something unheard before.

No matter her resistance, York continued to invoke the power of God, reciting the Gospel of John from the Bible.

"'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.' Amon, you are a child of darkness, but I dispel your darkness with the almighty power of God!"

Different from Drew's exorcism, these words actually caused a pure, feather-light radiance to appear in the air, shining directly onto Ryanne.

This strike, like a critical hit, caused the rising black smoke from Ryanne to dissipate instantly, her screams growing even more agonizing.

They echoed in the air, sounding like boundless despair. Each scream was piercingly painful, like needles to the soul, unbearable to hear.

This caused Drew and many viewers of the livestream to instinctively cover their ears.

Yet, their eyes remained fixed on a scene they would never forget.

This is the difference between clergy and laypeople; even the Warren couple needed the residual holy power in the cross to be effective.

Though all are God's creation, all are His children, there are degrees of closeness...

"'Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.' Amon, I command you! In the name of the almighty God, leave this world immediately!"

York looked at Ryanne before him, his face

 calm.

As his words fell, brilliant light radiated from him, illuminating the entire room.

Ryanne straightened up with a sharp roar, thick black mist rising again and forming a vague shape.

A bird-headed, fanged, wolf-bodied, serpent-tailed creature...

"Roar!"

This newly formed shape, with its roar, charged directly at York.

But before the divine power, the shape made of black mist began to dissipate quickly as it approached York.

By the time it reached him, only a wisp of it remained, drifting into nothingness.

The entire space fell silent instantly.

York put the crucifix back on, closed the heavy Bible in his hands, and looked towards Ryanne, now with her head drooping in the chair.

He no longer sensed any dark power.

"Amen!" York said calmly, then turned to a bewildered Drew.

"It's over."

Drew paused, still not fully comprehending.

"The demon has been expelled, which means your girlfriend is back to normal," York explained.

Hearing this, Drew suddenly woke up, looked at the bishop, who nodded.

"Ryanne!"

Drew rushed over, supporting Ryanne who was still dazed in the chair.

"Oh, my God!"

Drew cradled his girlfriend's face, unable to help but cry.

When he saw Ryanne's eyelids twitch, his emotions surged to their peak.

However, as Ryanne opened her eyes, she suddenly struggled, shouting, "No, no!"

Hearing the familiar voice, Drew quickly embraced her, allowing Ryanne's flailing arms to hit his face and body.

"It's me! Hey! It's me!"

At this, Ryanne realized who was before her. She looked at her tearful boyfriend, paused, and then broke down crying, burying herself in his embrace.

In the backdrop of the surrounding devastation, this scene of survival appeared somewhat tragic.

York shook his head, snapped his fingers, and the intact equipment area instantly shattered, also ending the livestream.

The countless pieces floating in the air, under some unknown force, settled smoothly onto the ground.

Looking outside, York felt a bit troubled; the exorcism had indeed caused a lot of disturbance, leaving no building intact in the area. Fortunately, there were no people around, but the cleanup would surely be cumbersome.

"Never mind, I'm only responsible for the exorcism, my task is completed. I'll leave the cleanup to Bishop Randall," York reasoned, preparing to leave.

But just as he was about to go,

A trembling, anxious voice called out from behind.

"Bishop, may I confess to you? I wish to sincerely confess my mistakes!"

York paused, turned back, and saw the couple embracing, Drew looking at him with a serious and devout expression.

Just that look alone made it clear this man would likely become a very devout follower, as York had seen such gazes often.

"Sorry, I'm very busy," York said indifferently.

"If you wish to repent your sins, feel free to find any church and sincerely confess your mistakes to the priest there."

Without waiting for their reaction, York vanished on the spot, shooting towards the sky.

Yet in that instant, York still heard the response.

"Yes! I will! I definitely will!"
