Chương 2279: Chapter 1542: Pursuer of the Sun (Part 3)_2

"Loki, too, is facing some pressure, mainly from his parents urging him to marry. After Thor's marriage, it's Loki's turn. Frigga hopes that her son can start a family as soon as possible and learn to be steady, while Odin believes that Frost Giant's lineage should be passed down as a contingency. Moreover, their preferred choices are different, which makes him feel agitated."

"Matt has a small problem; he and Erica are preparing for the wedding. The difference in their backgrounds causes disparities in taste on many issues. They've been swamped for a while, but still haven't figured it out, and both feel exhausted."

Shiller enumerated the psychological problems of all the superheroes he was close to, but most of the remaining ones were minor issues, hardly even count as troubles, just trifles that ordinary people often face.

Then the discussion moved up to a more macro level. Shiller said, "Recently, I've been spending a lot of time in the clinic in Hell's Kitchen and noticed that the traces of superhero activities here have drastically reducing."

"I think this is related to the significant improvement in New York's security situation, but the previously formed superhero team has become an insurmountable problem."

"If they were to withdraw funding and dissolve the team due to inactivity, it would be difficult to manage the superheroes with unstable abilities on one hand, and on the other hand, it would weaken the reserve resources. However, if they were kept in this form, they wouldn't get much training opportunity and would cost a lot of money."

"The key issue is how to reorganize the overly fragmented superhero team in New York, establish a stable system to ensure that everyone gets the chance to train without over consuming logistical resources, and avoid unnecessary personnel and expenses."

Then Shiller went further and started analyzing social issues.

"The current situation in New York tends to be stable, which is both a good and a bad thing. During good times, many monsters and ghosts won't show up, but the moment there's a little conflict, they'll swarm in like a hyena smelling blood. Previous large-scale riots and public opinion problems are proof."

"If we want to eradicate these termites hiding in the dark, we must strike swiftly, accurately, and ruthily, without giving them the opportunity to manipulate public opinion or hide themselves. The key point is to be discreet, especially not to be found out by the overly moral superheroes; otherwise, it would lead to a dispute over law and vigilantism, causing internal conflict and letting the real enemies get away with their crimes."

Shiller flipped over a page of his notebook and said, "The key targets within the Earth are mostly these. If it weren't for your unexpected madness, the plan would be half accomplished by now."

Shiller pointed at the plan he had made and explained.

"Gwen is a very sensitive and observant person. She won't miss the reasons for Peter's stress, and the only one who can solve this is her. Actually, what Peter should do is to give them some space to communicate. So, first, I would create an accident to separate Peter and Gwen."

"The best way to lead Peter away is through Harry. I would gently remind Peter that he's been neglecting his friend recently. Feeling guilty, Peter would go to see Harry, whose full attention is currently on his girlfriend Mary Jane who's been trying to break into Hollywood for the past year. It's very likely Harry would take Peter out of New York."

"Once Peter leaves, I would arrange for Agent Carter to be transferred within S.H.I.E.L.D. Steve and Carter's relationship is heating up. When Carter leaves, Steve would follow."

"Loki shares the same pride as you and me. Stark has offended him so many times that he will definitely not let go of an opportunity to get back at Stark. I'll subtly mention Stark's current weaknesses, Howard, and Maria, when I meet him in Fairy Palace. Just like Loki, he needs to be disciplined by his parents. Loki should be able to give Stark some trouble."

"Meanwhile, the next time Matt comes to me for psychological counseling, I will remind him that Erica has an extraordinary background and her father probably left her a substantial inheritance in Greece. They could both go there together to claim the inheritance and use it for their wedding, thus prompting Matt to leave."

"Once a central force in the superhero team leaves New York, Nick can start reorganizing the superhero team by establishing a system under official control. With these overly moral superheroes gone, I can manipulate Hydra to get rid of those who stir trouble in the shadows."

"I already have a target: a chief editor who has consistently smeared Spiderman in all media circles. Influenced by the military-industrial complex, he demonizes superheroes with the aim of getting the public to buy weapons for self-protection due to their fear of superhero tyranny."

"He calls Spider Man a moral tyrant, claiming that even if you accidentally step one foot out of the zebra crossing, Spider Man will descend from the sky, beat you into a lifelong disability, then hand you over to the police. Anyone who violates his moral standards will be punished by him, so anyone who encounters him should not hesitate to shoot directly."

"Interestingly, this editor's home is within the patrol range of a squad that Chief George deeply trusts. Given his significant public influence coupled with George's extensive experience as a seasoned police officer, he is bound to get involved in solving this case."

"They will first notice that this editor has published a series of long-form reports slandering and falsely accusing Spiderman over the past year. These reports were simultaneously published in thirteen media outlets and on more than twenty websites under the series title 'Hugie Exposes Spiderman's Dirty Secrets'..."

"'Hugie Exposes Spiderman's Dirty Secrets'?" Chief George, frowning, read aloud the headline on the newspaper in his hands.

At that moment, he was standing in a chaotic living room holding a newspaper he just found on a coffee table. Behind him was a bunch of investigation tape, and all around him, police officers moved about gathering evidence. Reporters struggled to push their way in from the entrance, and suddenly, George heard someone shouting his name.

"Chief George! Chief George! Over here! It's me, Jameson, Jona Jameson! Can I come in and take a look?!"

George turned around and saw a middle-aged man with gray hair at his temples and a small mustache trying hard to squeeze in. He thought for a moment, and suddenly a past case flashed through his mind.

"Oh, Mr. Jameson, what brings you here?" George quickly welcomed in this man named James. Patting him on the arm, he said, "I'm really sorry about Gina's case. I was too young at the time, didn't have much experience in solving cases..."

"Oh, don't worry about that, Chief George. The fact that you wanted to investigate was the best you could do." James firmly shook George's hand and said sincerely, "After all, the killer wore a mask back then, everyone thought there was little hope, only you stepped forward. I remember that to this day."

"Oh, please, don't say that, I was only doing what I should have." George also shook hands with James and, looking him in the eyes asked, "Mr. James, why did you come over here?"

"Oh, I own a newspaper called the Daily Bugle, and Hugie used to contribute his articles to us. Upon hearing about his murder, I rushed right over."

"So you were friends with Mr. Hugie, that's a shame. Our officers are working hard collecting evidence now. Do you have any clues that you could provide for us?"

"Spider Man!" Jameson replied confidently. "Hugie's series of long-form articles were about exposing Spider Man's secrets, that makes Spider Man our prime suspect!"
