Chương 1628: Chapter 1093: Father and Son (Twenty-Two)_1

Polaris and Scott stormed into the room, still in combat stance. However, the tense scene they had anticipated, with drawn swords and taut crossbows, did not materialize. Instead, Shiller was sipping tea and Magneto was holding some tea leaves. White vapor rose from the cup, filling the room with a rich aroma of tea.

Polaris sniffed, then eyed the cup. Shiller sized them up, then asked, "Why so agitated? Has something happened?"

However, by this point, Magneto's face had darkened. He stared at Polaris with an intimidating gaze. The force of his anger radiated into the surrounding magnetic field.

Polaris gritted her teeth, struggling to maintain a stable magnetic field around her and Scott, resisting the turmoil created by Magneto's presence.

But the gap in power between her and Magneto was too vast. It was like a small boat in a stormy sea, desperately clinging on. Barely ten seconds passed before Polaris' face turned slightly pale.

Before Polaris could speak, Shiller, hand to his chest, coughed twice. His eyebrows furrowed together as he said, somewhat puzzled, "What's happening? I'm finding it a bit hard to breathe..."

"Scott, could you open a window? It may be a bit stuffy in here..." Shiller looked towards Scott. Scott blinked, failing to grasp Shiller's meaning.

He was aware of Shiller's strength; besides, Magneto and Polaris weren't physically fighting, just grappling in a magnetic field barely noticeable to ordinary people. The magnetic fluctuations shouldn't affect ordinary humans, let alone Shiller.

"I apologize, you must know, I haven't been in the best mental state recently. My doctor advised me not to stay in overly oppressive environments. Could you please open the window, Scott..."

Scott moved towards the window, glancing back every few steps. Meanwhile, Polaris seemed to be recovering slightly. She felt the immense pressure lessen, as Magneto gradually retracted his power.

A flicker of surprise crossed Polaris' face. She didn't think Magneto cared about Shiller.

Nevertheless, Polaris let out a breath of relief. After all, the mental toll from her futile struggle against her own father was substantial.

"You have no manners." Magneto said, looking at Polaris. Before he could continue, Shiller coughed again.

Magneto turned his head and sighed internally. It seemed history would repeat itself, with Professor X comforting his children while Magneto enforced discipline.

Magneto disagreed with his friend's approach. The more he sought to intervene, the more his children feared him and gravitated towards Professor X, yearning to hear kind words. But this did no good for them. At least, that's how Magneto saw it - they were becoming lawless.

Magneto, having lived so long, understood societal norms better than any of his children, despite his forceful personality and distant relationships.

He knew he wasn't part of contemporary society. He simply didn't like the environment, didn't care about ordinary peoples' opinions, and had no interest in assimilating into their communities.

If he wished to integrate, he had everything he needed: wealth, status, fame.

But his children weren't the same. They longed for societal acceptance, to live ordinary lives, and for their identities to be acknowledged.

But they were incapable of achieving societal acceptance. If they couldn't abide by societal norms, they would only be pushed further away.

Magneto knew Professor X meant well, always trying to pacify and comfort everyone, especially these second-generation mutants who he considered as his own children.

Whenever they had misunderstandings or felt wronged, Professor X would spare no words of comfort, perpetually showering them with encouragement and care.

And this was fundamentally where Magneto and Professor X differed. Magneto felt that Professor X's kind words only pushed the mutants further from their goals.

Magneto had turned his back, uninterested in observing another psychologist console his children gently. He had grown weary of this repetitive spectacle.

Surprisingly, Shiller looked gently at Polaris, but said, "Miss Lorna, I believe you should leave now."

Polaris was startled, not quite understanding what Shiller meant. Thus, Shiller repeated, "Miss Lorna, please leave."

Then he took a step back, signaling the door to her. Polaris spread her hands, baffled, "Didn't the two of you have a quarrel? I only came to..."

"Miss Lorna, I'd rather not repeat this a third time. I think you should leave." Although Shiller had physically backed off, he observed no such courtesy in his speech.

Polaris felt wronged. She had only come to rescue Shiller. She raised her voice, "I was just..."
