Chương 5: Chapter 5: The Party.
Lian was directed to a spacious room which looked to be one of of the conference halls present on the building. Many stuff members were moving back and fourth while decorating and organising the place in preparation of the event that would take place.
She moved to the very front where a podium was being setup as other guys were organising the musical instruments.
Looking at the vast place and the number of tables and seats present, she sighed worriedly since she had never performed to such a big number before.

Sitting on the head seat, Joseph remained absentminded thinking of the girl he had seen earlier not minding the other men who looked to be way older than him some even fit to be his grandfathers.
He continued in his thoughts and was only nodding in agreement to what the other men were saying not minding even if it wasn't appropriate.
After sometime, he called out to his assistant and instructed him to continue with the meeting before leaving the board room. He sauntered towards the lift which led him directly to the conference room where the event would take place.
On reaching the place, he looked around indicating that he was looking for someone and was about to leave when he finally saw her at the extreme front where she was happily chatting with her crew members.
He quickly walked to where she was standing and was quickly spotted by one of the crew members but the girl was totally oblivious of him as her back was facing the direction he was coming from.

Lian was happily chatting with her crew members when one of them suddenly muttered slowly." He's here.... The CEO is here..." Lian was still trying to get what the guy was saying when she had a figure suddenly stand behind her.
The scent from the figure was peculiar and no ordinary guy could afford such an expensive piece of deodorant. It was at this time that it came to her mind that the CEO had come knowing well that it was Joseph.
The rest of the guys made it a point not to remain at the scene leaving her alone. She turned with her heart pumping uncomfortably her gazing directly falling on his chest. Turning her head to look up, her eyes suddenly remained fixed on his face registering a soft smile that had plastered on it.
The girl felt shy finally gazing away for sometime before finally collecting enough confidence and slowly muttered a greeting while fondling with the hem of her blouse.
" Hi Joe... " She muttered shyly. Joseph whose gaze hadn't left the girl and only smiling seeing how she was nervously behaving slowly replied with a smile still on.
" You've really grown. When I first saw you it was hard for me to believe it was you." The two chatted for quite a long time until it was time for her to perform as the place was now nearly filled up with people to the brim.
Her performance was quite a success receiving praises from almost each and everyone present at the function. It was already night by the time the function ended. Lian moved to the ceiling to floor window gazing at the beautiful scenery outside.
She reached for her phone and before she dailed a number she remembered that her friend had already turned her down. She then dailed her sister's number but suddenly frowned when it indicated that it was off.
Despite knowing how to drive, Lian had developed amaxophobia ever since she almost lost her life when she got involved in a car accident two years back.
Joseph stood talking to some middle aged men his gazes darting at the girl every now and then. Basing on her looks, he realised that something was wrong with her. He excused himself and sauntered directly towards where she was standing.
Lian was still thinking of how she could get home totally oblivious of the guy who had now stood beside her for a couple of seconds when he slowly muttered.
"Mind taking you home." He slowly muttered making her realise his presence. She couldn't believe what she just heard as all her thoughts turned to God who had done such a miracle for her.
Without hesitation, she agreed to the offer leaving behind the rest who sighed in disappointment seeing that the famous CEO had finally left the function.
Meeting him was hard as many waited for eternity to meet him since he hated gatherings and was ever in disguise whenever in public.
Meeting him for some of them would only be possible after months or even years and for others this was the last time setting their eyes on him physically.
The lift took them directly to the CEO's private underground parking where his driver was already waiting. After handing him the car keys, he then left leaving behind the girl and his boss.
Joseph moved to the other side of the car opening the door which he then closed after the girl entering. He then moved to the driver's side getting into the car and before he set out, he fastened her seat belt which left her amazed.
Lian sat perplexed on what had unfolded thinking of how a reputable man like him could possibly do that for her. Even her good for nothing boyfriend was proud enough not to open the car door for her and now fastening her seat belt it felt even more peculiar.
The environment in the car remained calm and quiet until Joseph decided to spark off a conversation.
" Your music is really good. Have you ever thought of putting it in recording." Joseph slowly muttered breaking the silence while throwing a quick glance at her.
Lian gave a deep sad sigh knowing well that however much she had wanted to record her songs, no record label was willing to sign her and not even individual recording studios would dare record her songs as her parents had instructed them not to.
They would like risk losing their licences or even total closure from business if they dared in doing so. This had even created a gap between her and her parents and the only reason she still regarded them as her parents is just because she didn't want to disappoint her younger sister.
Joseph couldn't come to terms with what the girl had just told him. He kept on wondering what kind of parents she had. He made it a point to secretly help her even without the girl noticing.
The rest of the journey was a silent one until they finally reached their destination. Lian's home was next to Lauren's and what separated the two homes was only the small fence.
Lian got off the car bidding Joe a good night who replied with a smile on his face. She moved to her place and before she opened her gate, Lauren came out of her house quickly sauntering to her brother's car which was about to zoom off.
" So I see you're planning to leave without even saying hi to me.." Lauren called out to her brother with mild anger evident in her voice.
Joseph got out of the car apologising for his action placing a small peck on her right cheek before throwing her in a hug promising not to break from the hug unless she forgives him.
Seeing that her struggles to break free from the hug are futile, she slowly accepted defeat and finally forgiving him.
Joseph placed a small peck on her forehead before zooming off in his car.

Lian stood at her gate watching the two siblings and suddenly an envious feeling engulfed her. Since her young age she had a longing for a brother but couldn't get one. Seeing her friend now, she felt a little envious seeing she had everything she longed for.
After Joseph had left, Lauren followed her friend to her house inquiring of what had happened between her and her brother. The girls spend the night at Lian's house having a girl talk all night.
