Entrance Exam (7)
Walking through the hallway with my hands in my pockets I tried to guess what monster I would face.
In this test, we had to kill monsters but each examinee fought a different monster. This would be a bit of a pain as if I was paired with a strong monster it meant I probably needed to show a bit more of my tricks.
"Ah, whatever," scratching the back of my head I made it in front of a door and pushed it open. Entering the room I noticed the room itself was a bit…empty.
To the side was a desk with three instructors sitting at it.
Now you may be wondering why exactly they were sitting at a desk. Well, they weren't actually sitting there.
This was a hologram and the instructors were in another room or island. All of the instructors from Nexus were still at Nexus but they still were in charge of the entrance exam.
"Examnee number 235, Arthur Irwin correct,"
I observed the three instructors who were looking at me.
The one on the left was a woman with scarlet long hair that was tied into a ponytail. She was beyond beautiful with her enchanting blue eyes. Her name was Jasmine Walker and was ranked 150 in the Player rankings. While she did appear in the novel she wasn't the main teacher that Issac had.
The man in the middle looked to be in his early 20s however, in this world appearances were deceiving. His name was Daniel Lee and he helped the MC and his friends in a certain event that was going to happen at Nexus.
However, once I saw the person who was sitting on the right side I put on my poker face so I wouldn't show my face cringe. I remember that guy pretty well actually, Vincent Lopez he was someone I would describe as "Third-rate" while he was an instructor at Nexus it wasn't due to his skill but rather his father's influence. While he wouldn't be a pain for Issac he was a pain for some of his friends.
But in my case, he would be a huge ass.
Vincent Lopez was one of the leaders of the "Blood Supremecy" Faction. To put it simply they were people who thought "Noble" bloodlines were the leading cause of someone receiving a high-talent despite a lot of evidence proving it wrong. They were like the flat earthers of my world.
'Now that I'm thinking about it are there still flat earthers here?'
Now could I have come up with something original? Sure if I put some energy into it…but I didn't.
Now why would he be a pain for me?
Well, I was someone with no particular background and I was technically the "son" of one of the most powerful players on the planet.
For people like Vincent and the Blood Supremecy faction, I would be considered an eye sore high rank or not.
'Ugh why did I create him'
It wasn't exactly like he was an enemy against Issac but was the enemy of his friends and then became the enemy of Issac.
"Yes," Still with my poker face, I nodded
While I could see that they wanted to ask questions it wasn't the interview segment yet so they had to hold them.
"Alright so this test will be pretty simple," Daniel said with a smile on his face "All you have to do is defeat the monster using the AR vision,"
"Got it," Nodding A drone appeared in front of me with an AR vision.
Picking it up I then put it on and looked ahead of me.
Towering over me was a giant monster.
If I was honest it was pretty much just a giant lion with black tattoos all over its body and crimson red eyes.
I then let out a breath.
'Let's get this over with'

Daniel looked at the youth who didn't take any stance.
He did have expectations of the youth but this was mainly due to his background. He was someone who was adopted by Elena Montfort.
While it was well-known that Elena Montfort was kind-hearted, it wasn't to the point where she would adopt a boy even with his high talent after all there were many geniuses.
So what was so special about this boy?
Looking at the monster the boy was facing a slight frown appeared on Daniel's face.
The Piraeus Lion was a D-ranked beast. Its hide was extremely tough, the only weakness that was known about it was its mouth.
However, another way was to blow it up with a 5-tier spell.
The Piraeus lion quickly pounced toward the youth but he stepped back dodging its claws. But suddenly lightning crackled around the youth before he appeared behind the lion. H
*Bzzt*
However, the Piraeus lion was hardly affected.
"ROAR"
The beast then let out a giant roar causing the runes on its body to take a slight red hue. Soon after red sparks of lightning started to appear all around the beast.
A sudden wave of lightning shot toward the youth.
Daniel anticipated the youth to do something.
Maybe quickly avoid it or just counter it.
But what he didn't anticipate was Arthur doing absolutely nothing. As the lightning grew closer and closer the youth didn't do anything at all.
*BOOOM*
A virtual explosion happened causing Daniel to let out a disappointed sigh.
It seems that he expected too much from the youth.
"Ha what is this-" Before Vincent could make a condescending comment they saw that the lightning had disappeared revealing Arthur unscratched.
The crimson lightning that was supposed to damage or show a version of him being damaged was currently colling around him. Then the boy started to bounce around the lion and suddenly he stopped. In the next second many gigantic holes appeared all over the lion.
The instructors were shocked however, they quickly got out of their stupor and started to take some notes.
"You may leave," Bowing Arthur then made his way out of the room

Exiting the room I let out a breath.
"That should do,"
If my performance in my written exam was low than this would mostly likely help along with the maze. However, this should also deter "him" though unless "he" does something.
Sitting back in the lobby I waited for the last part of my examination to start.
The last part was a simple spar between me and one other examinee. This part didn't really matter as much as I'd probably just have to put on a show.
"Then I can prepare for the end of this arc,"

In a large office, a man sat with a bunch of paperwork laid in front of him. However, as he was working the small snake statue that was in the room started to change. Its golden eyes took on a green glow while the cracks between its golden scales started to glow a right green.
Seeing that the man got up "Ah my lord,"
"What is that you have called me for?" while the snake's mouth didn't move a voice could be heard in the room.
"I wish to inform you that, Elena Montfort seems to found a way to increase her life span or get rid of the effects of her gift,"
"Hm…and?"
"She has adopted a child who I believe may be behind this,"
"...Do you have any idea what that child did?"
"I'm afraid not,"
There was silence before the voice rang in the room again "Find more information before you contact me,"
With that, the green glow disappeared and the room was plunged back into silence.

Looking at the blue-haired youth in front of me I tried to hide my bitter smile.
'It could've been worse'
[A few minutes earlier]
I was sitting in the lobby while I was scrolling through the news. I tried to find any news that could connect to the event and I was able to figure out a few locations where 2 portals will appear.
The first location was pretty obvious and that was near a famous monument of the seven heroes.
The other seemed to be near the heart of Elarion. In other words the city I am currently in.
However, just as I was in my thoughts my number was called up again and I got up. I made it in front of an instructor with other examinees.
We made it in front of a small arena with a small set of bleachers on the side.
"You will now spar with each other,"
Hearing that I could see some of the youths look around each other to pick out the weakest ones. While some did land on me I noticed most landed on a boy with glasses.
"Our first spar will be between Nathaniel Reed and Arthur Irwin,"
And thus I was in this situation.
'Am I cooked?'
