Lemon's group finally walked out of the guild building feeling as if they had gone through a weary experience. At least that's how Lemon felt after hearing the unnecessarily detailed history of the staff head and the ex-adventure group called "Blue Night". It was a tale rekindling past friendships, paying off debts, drama, action, betrayal, and even some romance. It was to the point that when the story passed the three-hour mark, with no end in sight, Caenis-after waking up from a short nap-cut one of the elder's arms off to make her get to the point.
Still, you didn't have to cut off her arm like that. We almost got into a new heap of trouble. I even put up with it cause we learned some history about this empire, and it being an engaging story also helped. (L)
"Yaya, I'm sorry. I need to reflect on this," Caenis replied with an incorrigible attitude as she brushed off the criticisms.
Lemon, shaking his head at her attitude gives up and turns to Yuri, telling her to write a report on the gathered info and pass it to Nazaric.
But still, to think of our first mission as an adventure is to aid in the tantrums of a Maquess' heir. I don't know if this headwind will bring us the connections we need or just crash us into a cliff of complications, and from today's experience, I am not confident....ha. But first, we need to find this heir first. Well, Solution will take care of that tonight....oh.
"Solution, what happened to the Kasho guy?" he asked in a casual tone, and Solution shook her head in response informing him that currently Kasho was talking to the receptionist Yashia with an elevated heart rate about a quest.
Lemon was quite curious about the strange behaviours and the sudden shifts of attitudes he showed when interacting with him. He suspected it might be because he possessed one of those [Talant] skills but quickly dismissed it as both talents he knows of relate to the inspection of something concrete and not something that will help in assessing the nature of someone.
'But, there might be a [talent] like that. *Mm* I still don't know much about this world, so I shouldn't assume. Well, we are observing him so I will have to be satisfied with that.'
Ok, it's already past noon. Let's meet up with Hekkeran and his group, and we can also get something to eat there. You know the place they mentioned yesterday, Solution? (L)
....Yes, I do know, but is it necessary for a Lemon-sama to meet with those Humans? And the food there must be too inadequate for a supreme being! If you desire food, My Lord, I will teleport to Nazaric and bring one to our inn. (S)
Lemon steps back from the sudden burst of disapproval displayed by Solution. Although he knew from reading the flavour text and Ainz directly informing him about this behaviour, all their interaction with humans were relatively peaceful, so he was lost at how to respond to her assertion and looked towards the remaining two seeking help. Yuri was standing quietly, neither showing approval nor discontent on the topic, but her silence when they met eyes more than spoke about where she stood. Caenis also did not care about this, but maybe because Lemon didn't add any flavour text of her hating humans, she was completely apathetic towards them. Thus, when their eyes met, she gave an annoyed click and spoke up.
Oi, Slime, are you questioning my master's direction? If he said we would meet up with those humans, then we will. So keep your thoughts to yourself like this Glasses here. My master may be a pervert and a philander, but he is someone who doesn't keep people who do not serve him in some way, so shut up and follow his orders. (C)
Hearing this pointed criticism, Solution, Yuri and Lemon, to some extent, were momentarily stunned. The first one to recover was Lemon and, as if to break this silence, spoke to Solution in a commanding tone.
Ahm, although caenis could have worded it better, she is right. I am doing this knowing of our Guild's sentiments towards humans. What I am about to say is my opinion and not something you all need to follow, but I think we from Nazaric need to stop seeing Humans or rather everything outside of Nazaric as inferior. We are in a new world and not in Yggdrasil, so we cannot keep interacting with people outsiders the same way we usually do. (L)
Lemon paused for a moment, observing the faces of the two maids. Both the maids wore astonished countenances on hearing his thoughts, which borders on denying one of the core tenets of Nazarick. After their initial reaction, a surge of dread rises from their core. They imagined the worst scenario that could befall the tomb: Their two remaining Gods fighting each other due to their difference in perception and ideology, but, as if reading their worry, he informed them of plans that would shatter the gyrate that made up how they perceive the world.
"In this thought, both I and Ains think the same, but we also understand that many of you can't suddenly change your thinking, so we are trying to change it slowly. To implement this way of thinking to everyone in a gradual manner. And for that, ironically, we need to be more heartless towards the outside. We can pick out the people that are beneficial to us from all the rest. This act of selection can make us appreciate beings outside of Nazaric more. And Hekkeran's party falls on the group that benefits us." Lemon gave a loud exhale, signalling the end of his lecture.
He has not given his full thoughts on this topic, but knowing this was not the time or the place to continue on such introspective topics, he opted to return to their earlier plans.
Now you know why we are meeting up with them, so no blatant display of killing intent toward them, ok, especially your Solution. Oh, I don't approve of one point from what Canies said. You guys can share your opinion with both me and Ainz. In fact, we encourage it. It will help you grow as a person, and by sharing your thoughts, you can engage in discussion with your colleagues, further increasing your depth of that thought. It also gives us a fresh take on things, and we might even incorporate your ideas if it improves our plans. Well, this turns out to be a long lecture. We are even starting to gather eyes too. So lead the way Solution. (L)
Solution had come to grasp on the thread of wisdom her lords had provided her, and even if she still hadn't fully taken in the knowledge, she had understood enough to realise the importance of the humans they were about to meet. With that in mind, she nodded to her lord's command.

{A little before Lemon and his gang of merry? women exited the Guild}
A figure cloaked in black walked hurriedly down the busy street of the capital. You would assume if someone like this walked down the side road, they would gather the attention of the people around them, and you would be right. If this was one of the main roads, this kind of conspicuous getup would have gathered the attention of all the guards in the vicinity. This road, however, is the hidden passage, where people of unscrupulous natures perform their trade. Whether it be selling questionable charms and potions or selling suspicious magic items. The buying and selling of slaves can also be seen if you just strain your eyes a little. It is in such a place where not wearing a hooded cloak would draw more attention that this person moved unceasingly as the noise of chattering and shouts from customers and sellers assaulted their ears, and as if running away from this road filled with vice and avarice they started to pick up speed, but still, the surroundings did not even glance at them, and as if their efforts were bearing fruits the sounds that assaulted them soften up and eventually vanishing in the distance. They then turned a corner and walked towards the exit of the ally. Standing at the entrance, many people turned towards this hooded person, but instead of showing discontent, they gave a relieved sigh. Removing the hood, locks of shining black hairs became exposed in the light, and cold purple light gazed back towards the staring bystanders. This, coupled with her tall physique and the shining of metal coming from under her cloak, made them retreat from her gaze. Giving a sigh, this cold-eyed beauty walked casually, vanishing with the stream of people.
At a high-class eatery, a young man with blue burning hair and a young pink-haired woman quietly sits in a private room. Dises of half-finished plates lay about on the table. The man called Alonso wore a worried face as he frequently looked to check the hourglass in the room.
Aa, it's already been ten minutes from our meet-up time. I knew I shouldn't have let her go there alone. Dame, this stupid family rule. (Alonso)
"P-Please, calm yourself, Alonso-sama. I am sure Dalia will be alright. She is one of the best fighters I know of. I am certain she can handle anything thrown at her." The pink-haired girl's nervous attempt to calm him down only further enraged his irritation. He then -as if looking at the source of his trouble- looked at the girl, to which she flinched like a rabbit to a mad dog.
Don't you think I already know that? I am worried in spite of that since that is a place where physical strength will just extend your suffering if it envelopes you. Besides, it's because of you, Niea, that she had to go there by herself, so just shut (Alonso)
*knock knock*
As Alsonso was about to explode his bubbled-up anger, a knock followed by the voice from one of the eatery's waiters called out to them. Asking if they had arranged a meeting with someone named Dalia. Alonso on hearing this, instantly calmed his mind and rushed towards the door and opened it, almost blowing away the poor waiter with the force. He then rushed to the entrance, leaving a relieved Niea who had just dodged a scolding.
I-I have to treat Dalia's favourite meal for come when she did. (Niea)
She then looked at the waiter, ordering some pork intestine, chicken thighs and some grape wine. While the waiter wrote down the orders, two people walked inside the room. Alonso, on seeing the waiter ordered some food.
I am sorry, but this miss has already ordered this. Should I double the food instead?
Alonso, eyeing Niea in surprise, shook his head to the waiter. After the waiter left the room, Alonso walked up to Niea and apologised for his previous outburst.
No-no, you don't have to Lord Alonso. It was my fault in the end for not understanding the danger of that place, and more importantly, we need to listen to the news Dilia has brought. Niea said, flustered and shaking her hands near her face in his sudden apology. (Niea)
Ya, thank you. Now, Dalia, I know you must be tired, but while we wait for the food, tell us what you gathered in that place.(Alonso)
Dalia, who had sat down on her own and was chewing on some shrimp, nodded her head. After washing down the food with water, she spoke.
As we suspected, most Worker teams backed out when they heard the mission was an expedition to the forest of tob.(Daila) A dejected face came over Alonso on hearing the report, but her next words brought back some hope to his face.
But, from what I heard, there are two teams that have recently travelled to the forest and returned alive. However, one of them, Dragon Hunt, sustained some casualties and is rejecting new quests right now. As for the other team named Foresight, I couldn't gather much info for them as they are a relatively new worker team that suddenly climbed up. From what I heard, they killed a basilisk that had strayed to the outskirts of the forest. So, I don't know if they will be of any help in delving deeper inside. (Dalia)
Alonso after quietly listening to Dalia's report, turned up his head in dark contemplation. He was tempted to just give up all this and rushed towards the forest to find the flower. But he understood, both from the scolding from Irona and the advice of his once fellow adventurers, that to rush into that forest without sufficient heads would be a death sentence. But as if the world was standing as his adversary, all his plans to recruit members of this expedition fell to the wayside. He has even fallen to using Workers, the complete scum of the adventurer's system, people who only seek profit above anything, but even that is not working out as he hoped.
While still closing his eyes, he asked Dalia the members of this Foresight team.
A well-balanced team of four, ha, a little small but, guess Beger can't be a chooser. (Alonso) Straightening his head, he asked Dalia to take them to their base.
Her immediate response was a scowl on her forehead and a sharp glare.
After we are done eating, of course. So don't look at me like that Dalia. (Alonso)
