Chương 40: Past memories I

Charissa sat in front of the mirror, her face cast in disappointment as tears rolled down her cheeks. She blamed herself for ruining her own life. Her company was crumbling day by day due to the substandard skin care product that was launched last time, affecting sales and causing eighty percent of big sponsors to withdraw their support. Even Xander Constructions couldn't offer any help, as the company had been in decline since Alex resigned.

But amidst all this, what terrified her the most was facing her father's wrath. She dreaded going back to those dark days.

"No, no," she whispered as her lips trembled.

"Charissa!!!" Mr. Maxwell fumed as he stepped into their home. "Where is that daughter of a wench?" he shouted as he made his way upstairs.

Immediately, Charissa heard her father's yelling, and she stood up and hid under the bed.

Bang!

The door opened with a loud thud. Mr. Maxwell looked around, but Charissa was nowhere to be found.
