It was already past 8 o'clock when Xu Xiuwen arrived at the car with the four women.
Xu Qian and Lu Xinyao helped Song Xiaomi into the back seat, while Zhao Yatong sat in the front passenger seat.
Today, Zhao Yatong was dressed in a white turtleneck sweater and a brown woolen coat, with a pencil skirt and sheer black stockings.
While waiting at a red light, Xu Xiuwen couldn't help but glance at the front passenger seat.

Lu Xinyao asked, "Mr. Xu, would you like to come up for a bit?"

The four women then went upstairs, and Xu Xiuwen drove out of the neighborhood.

Just as he was about to drive away, his phone rang.
Seeing that it was a call from Lu Xinyao, he was surprised and wondered why she was calling him.
He quickly answered the call.
"What's up?" Xu Xiuwen asked proactively.
Lu Xinyao's anxious voice came through the phone.
"Mr. Xu, something's wrong. I just saw Xu Qian being forcibly taken away by a man!"
Xu Xiuwen was stunned and quickly asked, "Didn't you all go back to the dormitory?"
Lu Xinyao explained, "Yes, but Xu Qian said she needed to go out for something. I happened to be on the balcony getting my clothes and saw her being taken away by a man."
Xu Xiuwen fell silent after hearing this.
Worried, Lu Xinyao asked, "Mr. Xu, should we call the police?"
Xu Xiuwen immediately stopped her, "Don't call the police yet. It might be a misunderstanding."
Lu Xinyao insisted, "Mr. Xu, it's not a misunderstanding. I saw Xu Qian struggling and she clearly didn't want to go with that man."
Xu Xiuwen was also starting to worry.
However, calling the police without understanding the situation could be a waste of resources if it turned out to be a misunderstanding.
He couldn't make such a decision based on Lu Xinyao's words alone.
Xu Xiuwen decided to head back.
He quickly said on the phone, "I didn't go far. I'll come back to look for her."

She had already come downstairs.

Xu Xiuwen couldn't help but laugh, "You watch too many TV dramas. There aren't that many kidnapping cases."
Though scolded, Lu Xinyao didn't argue and nodded, "I understand, Mr. Xu. I'll listen to you from now on."
Xu Xiuwen thought for a moment. The fact that her phone was unreachable and she was missing indeed seemed unusual.
He turned to Lu Xinyao, "I'll look around the area. You go back and lock the door."
Lu Xinyao, anxious, said, "Mr. Xu, let me help you search. It's easier with more people."
Xu Xiuwen glanced at her nightgown and shook his head, "You're in your pajamas. Don't run around. If Xu Qian comes back, you can notify me by phone."
"Okay, Mr. Xu." With that, Lu Xinyao turned and ran back to the dormitory building.
Xu Xiuwen searched around the neighborhood but couldn't find Xu Qian.
He had to go outside the community.
Since the gate of the community faced the road, Xu Xiuwen followed the road to look for her.
There was a dark alley with no streetlights not far from the community.
In TV dramas and novels, something usually happens in such a scene, so Xu Xiuwen walked towards the alley.
Standing at the entrance, he glanced inside and saw two figures in the dim light.
The figures were about ten meters away from him.
Xu Xiuwen couldn't hear clearly, but he could vaguely make out a man's shout and a woman's voice.
Xu Xiuwen recognized Xu Qian's voice.
He quickly walked into the alley.
In the depths of the alley.
Xu Qian looked at the man in front of her and said, "Qiao Dong, move aside, I want to go back."

Xu Qian pushed him away while calling for help.

Xu Xiuwen stepped a bit closer and smiled, "You haven't answered me yet. Mind if I go first?"
Xu Qian recognized Xu Xiuwen's voice by now.
Though she didn't understand why Xu Xiuwen was there, she didn't say anything.
She blushed, thinking about Xu Xiuwen's words.
What did he mean?
Did he want to sleep with her? Was he interested in her? Xu Qian's mind was racing, but she no longer felt afraid.
Qiao Dong didn't know what Xu Qian was thinking. Hearing Xu Xiuwen's words, he roared, "Get lost before I get angry!"
Xu Xiuwen took two more steps forward.

Hearing the sound behind him, he immediately let go of Xu Qian and pushed her aside while stepping to the left.
In the next second, the wooden stick fell between them.
Xu Xiuwen swiftly reached out with his left hand, effortlessly catching the tip of the stick, then struck Qiao Dong's wrist with his right hand, and followed with a hard elbow to Qiao Dong's chest, pushing him back two steps.
That wasn't the end.
Xu Xiuwen turned and side-kicked, using his left leg as a pivot, his right foot struck Qiao Dong's stomach hard.
With a thud, Qiao Dong was sent flying several meters away.
He hit the ground, blacked out, and fainted.
From Qiao Dong's sneak attack with the wooden stick to Xu Xiuwen's swift counter, it all happened in the blink of an eye.
Xu Qian was stunned.
She couldn't believe Xu Xiuwen was so good at fighting!
Coming back to her senses, she looked at Xu Xiuwen with concern.
They were now close to the alley entrance, where the streetlights shone in.
Seeing the expression on Xu Qian's face, Xu Xiuwen said, "I don't hit women, why are you so worried?"
Xu Qian quickly shook her head, "I'm not worried about you hitting me. I'm afraid you used too much force, what if something happens to Qiao Dong?"
Xu Xiuwen softly replied, "Don't worry, I know my limits. He'll be fine."
Only then did Xu Qian breathe a sigh of relief.
But still concerned, she walked over to check on Qiao Dong.
Xu Xiuwen asked, "He just tried to assault you, why are you caring about him?"
Xu Qian replied, "Leaving him here unattended, if something happens to him, we'll both be in trouble."
She nudged Qiao Dong, calling, "Qiao Dong, wake up!"
Xu Xiuwen thought she made sense and didn't stop her.
Qiao Dong quickly regained consciousness.
He was initially disoriented, then remembered what had happened.
Looking up, he met Xu Xiuwen's gaze.
Terrified, Qiao Dong shouted, "Stay away! My dad is the factory director. If I tell him, you're done for!"

Seeing this, Qiao Dong panicked and scrambled backward, shouting, "If you come closer, I'll call the police."
Xu Xiuwen chuckled.
He thought, you tried to assault someone, and now you're talking about calling the police?
He shook his head, finding it pointless, and stopped approaching Qiao Dong.
At this moment, Xu Qian said, "Qiao Dong, what you did just now has really infuriated me. I will never forgive you. This is my final warning: I never liked you. If you keep harassing me, I'll call the police next time."
Qiao Dong remained silent.
Seeing this, Xu Xiuwen threatened, "If I see you bothering Xu Qian again, I'll break your legs! Now get lost!"
Fearful, Qiao Dong struggled to his feet, then hunched over and ran along the wall.
After Qiao Dong left, Xu Qian sighed in relief.
She picked up her phone, which Qiao Dong had knocked to the ground, and walked back to Xu Xiuwen, saying, "Thank you, Mr. Xu."
Xu Xiuwen nodded, "You should thank Lu Xinyao. She saw you being dragged away and immediately called me. If not for her, I would've already returned to school."
Xu Qian shook her head, "I'll thank Lu Xinyao, but I also thank you, Mr. Xu. If it weren't for you, I might have—"
She paused, then sincerely said, "Thank you very much, Mr. Xu."
Xu Xiuwen nodded, "I'll walk you back to your dorm."
Xu Qian did not refuse.
At the dormitory entrance, Xu Xiuwen said, "You should go up. I need to head back."
Xu Qian, however, didn't leave.
Although she had just been through that ordeal, she felt safe with Xu Xiuwen.
Now hearing that he was leaving, she became anxious.
She quickly invited, "Mr. Xu, please come up with me. I'll make you some tea."
"It's quite late; it might not be appropriate."
"You saved me, Mr. Xu. If you don't even give me a chance to thank you, I won't have peace of mind all night."
Since Xu Qian had said so, Xu Xiuwen felt it would be too much to refuse.
He agreed.
Seeing Xu Xiuwen nod, Xu Qian sighed in relief.
