Chương 36: Future B-Rank Commission

"I hope they are doing fine," Ian exclaimed, drinking the grape juice in his mug, drinking it all in one gulp.

"I am sure they are fine, those three are not weak, after all," Kell seemed to be confident of their abilities.

Ian knew that as well, but it was hard to not worry, especially when his girlfriend was facing goblins, the worst type of monsters female adventurers could face.

"Well, we should head out now. I think it will be easier to see them when they come into town," Ian said. Just when the two were about to leave the building, the door opened, revealing the trio who all had a grim smile on their face.

"Looks like the girls had come," Kell said lamely before the two walked towards them.

"So, how hard is the commission?" Ian asked, after all, it was the first time they didn't have Kell's tanking ability as well as his support.

"It's hard, but nothing we can't handle," Fiona said, smiling at him. "It just, the monsters had their ways with the female adventurers," she did not say anything, not that she needed to. Ian completely knew what happened to the female captive in goblins' green hands.

 "Are they alive?" Ian asked.

"Yes, but they wished they didn't," Ian could not blame them for it. After all, when they are defiled by monsters for who knows how long, death seems to be the better option.

"They may even decide to quit adventuring," Fiona continued. Once again, Ian did not blame the girls.

 *Sigh*

"Let the guild handle the girls for now. There is nothing else you can do at the moment," Ian told the blonde, who nodded at his word. Soon, the receptionist told them to come into his office.

-x-

"Looks like you did it," the head told them, looking at the magic stones on his table. A hobgoblin and a goblin shaman magic stone to be exact.

"Your promotion will happen tomorrow. Right now, the guild is too busy handling the issue of the girls you saved and them wanting to leave the guild, not like I could blame them," the head told them.

"Don't worry about it. Those girls need help first," Ana told the head.

"So tomorrow, please come to the guild so you can receive your badge," the head told the trio, who merely nodded.

"As for the two of you, you do realize your strength likely reaches what is normal for Bronze-rank adventurers?" the two exchange glances before shrugging.

"Maybe, but we won't try to rank up before they get to Iron rank first," Kell said, pointing at the girls to emphasize them.

"Understood, but you will rank up in the future, am I right?" the head pressed on.

"Yes, but in a week or so. But, why are you so interested in our rank-up?" Ian asked, after all, this was the first time he had seen Mr. Grul being so pushy.

Mr. Grul sighed. "Nothing escapes your eyes, huh? Let's just say, if our small branch recorded someone becoming Bronze-rank adventurers, the main headquarters will give us a lot of resources, allowing us to expand the guild more,"

Ian did not understand how that would work. After all, it depends entirely on the talents of the adventurers, so why does the guild get the benefits?

"The branch will offer a lot of rewards for those that reach the Bronze rank. After all, they needed some push to be Bronze-rank. Not to mention, the higher the rank, the greater the authority and privilege.

That is the main reason why adventurers tried to rank up. Gravel usually will not get any privilege except the ability to use the guild's facilities without paying. Iron usually receives some form of discount in the bar and restaurant connected to the Adventure Guild.

As for Bronze, we don't have enough facilities or resources for the Bronze-only privilege, for now. That's why most of our Bronze-rank adventurers will go to larger towns and cities," the head explained.

"I see, that's why we don't see any Bronze-rank adventurers here," Kell exclaimed. After all, he only saw Gravel and Iron adventurers in the building.

"Yes, but, from the looks of things, we will need Bronze-rank adventurers soon," Mr. Grul said with a serious tone.

"Why- it's the suddenly rising number of goblins, isn't it," Ian asked, the head merely nodded.

"We have confirmed in the deeper part of the forest, the existence of one goblin chieftain. Goblin chieftains are usually C-rank monsters, as it is more athletic and faster than hobgoblins.

What makes them so dangerous is the fact only when there are more than 1000 goblins, can a chieftain appear," the numbers make the group's eyes bulge.

"More than a thousand!?" they all exclaimed.

"Unfortunately so. Our scout had determined the existence of the goblin chieftain. Thankfully, the extermination of the outer goblin's groups and the destruction of their hideouts likely weakened them.

But we could not just be happy for that. To make sure they are no longer a threat, the guild will get the permission necessary to raise the rank of the commission to B-rank and allow more rewards to be given. It should be enough to have the other adventurers to join the commission,"

Ian nodded. With this much manpower, handling the goblin chieftain should be easier, relatively that is.

"Where is the goblin chieftain located," Ian asked, after all, the location could determine whether the commission would be easy or not.

"Unfortunately, that is where things get.... dicey," Mr. Grul said, trying to look everywhere but at them.

"Why- they are at the center of Thrine Forest, aren't they?" Ian said with a deadpan face.

 The older man merely nodded.

-x-

As the adventurers and staff were busy doing their things, a loud "WHAAAT?!" could be heard from inside the head's office.

"What is that all about," an adventurer asked his friend, who merely shrugged before continuing to drink his beer.

-x-

"Yeah, I expected that, but there is no other way, or there will be more goblins appearing and led by the goblin chieftain. It might be possible to exterminate them at first, but later, it will be harder as the goblin will have better cohesion, possibly even causing a monster outbreak," the head said in a grave tone.

"Well, Mr. Grul. You better have a good way to encourage the other adventurers because I will not go there to fight all those monsters with my group if there is no reinforcement," Ian told him.

"So, you will do it?" Mr. Grul looked at him hopefully.

"Yes, but all of us better get a rank up to Bronze after this. And I mean all of us," Ian emphasizes.
