As Amanda had planned, the following Sunday she wanted to go to the hospital to have her pregnancy checked. Camille had offered to accompany Amanda to the hospital, but Amanda refused. She could not continue to depend on Camille.
That morning she prepared everything she needed to go to the hospital. After she was ready with everything, at nine in the morning she went to the hospital not far away.
Unfortunately when she arrived at the hospital and wanted to make a meeting with the gynecologist, the doctor who was at the hospital was on leave and there was no other gynecologist on duty. It was also a small hospital.
"The regular doctor was on leave, so you can go to a hospital in the city center. The equipment there is also much more complete than here," explained the nurse who was on duty at the reception.
Amanda had no choice but to go to the city center. Although it was quite a distance from where she was, it was the only place where she could get her pregnancy checked today. If she put it off until next Sunday, she wasn't sure she would get the following Sunday off.
The woman walked to the bus stop to go to the city center. Soon the bus came and Amanda traveled there. She thought it was fine to go downtown every time she had to check her pregnancy, she also wanted to see the city center every once in a while.
The trip to the city center took 30 minutes. During the trip, Amanda looked out the window, the last time she was in the city center was two months ago when she had just arrived in Quespion.
Arriving at the bus stop, Amanda saw a very crowded city center. Just like any other big city, there were several buildings standing there although not as big as those in Zondalia. Amanda asked the bus driver about the nearest hospital in the city.
"Oh it's not far from here. You just need to follow this road in front of you. Then when you find a building with a lot of billboards, you can turn to the right. Just follow that road and you'll find the hospital there," the man explained.
"I see, thank you." Amanda got off the bus and followed the driver's directions.
It didn't take long before she arrived at the hospital. The journey wasn't too far, but if her belly grew bigger, would she be able to walk that far?
Entering the hospital, Amanda immediately registered herself. She got a queue number and went to the obstetrician's office, waiting for her name to be called.
In front of the doctor's office, there were many other pregnant women who had come to check their wombs. Their faces looked so happy, waiting for their baby to be born. In addition, they were also accompanied by their spouses. Their spouses' faces looked just as happy.
Amanda who saw that could only smile for a moment, unlike the other pregnant women, she came there alone. Her blue eyes were closed, trying not to feel jealous of what she saw.
She shouldn't feel that way, but something inside her told her that she wished for the same thing, even though her mind told her that it was impossible.
After almost half an hour of waiting, Amanda was called inside for an examination. The doctor greeted Amanda and asked her to lie down to check her pregnancy.
"Hmn... Your pregnancy looks fine. Healthy and not too weak. Very good." the doctor explained.
"Really? Thank goodness." Amanda was relieved to hear that. She looked at the screen, which showed her 10-week-old baby.
After the checkup, the doctor gave her a photo of the ultrasound. Amanda was so happy to hold the photo. Amanda was asked to come in when she was 20 weeks pregnant.
"If you feel anything strange with your womb, feel pain or anything like that, you should also come to have it checked," the doctor advised.
"Okay, thank you very much." Amanda got up from the chair and left the doctor's office.
Walking out of the hospital, Amanda was still looking at the ultrasound results of her baby. A smile kept appearing on her beautiful face, she felt so happy to see the results.
"Maybe I'll put it in a frame. Is there a store that sells that nearby?"
Since it was still daytime and it was a long way to the city center, Amanda took this opportunity to walk around the city. She wandered around to every place there was.
As she was walking around, Amanda stopped in front of a store specializing in baby clothes. She saw a lot of baby clothes displayed in the window, all the clothes looked very cute and beautiful.
"Ohh... This one is really nice..." Amanda said looking at the mini dresses on display. "This one is also nice, he will look handsome in this one..." she pointed to a blue and white striped shirt with white pants for a baby boy.
She didn't know the sex of the baby yet. However, for Amanda, whether the baby will be born as a boy or a girl. Amanda would still love her baby.
As she approached to look at the prices, Amanda was a bit surprised to see that the baby clothes were very expensive.
"How expensive... At this rate I'll have to work even harder to earn more money to buy it..." she muttered under her breath.
For a moment Amanda was reminded of her childhood, when she was a child the clothes she wore were so shabby and dirty. In fact, she wore the same clothes every day because she was born into a poor family. She didn't have clothes that were pretty or looked good without holes.
Now her life is much better, her family has a big house and a large farm thanks to her hard work as an agent. Now she has left all that behind and is starting all over again.
She wants her baby to have a decent life, nice clothes and never go hungry like she did.
'Mama will fulfill everything you need. Therefore, be born a healthy and good child. I'm sure you will be very smart like your father.'
Satisfied with the view, Amanda continued her journey in search of something unique and not found in the area where she lived. She went to the city park and saw that it was very beautiful.
Colorful flowers everywhere, as well as a large green grass where there were a lot of people picnicking in the park. Many children were running around playing with each other.
"Nice place. But my stomach is suddenly hungry. It'll be lunch time soon, and I just got here."
The woman looked around and found a food truck parked in the park. Thinking of tasting the food, Amanda approached the food truck to fill her stomach.
"Good afternoon, how may I help you?" the food vendor asked.
"What kind of menu do you have? Or your best recommendation?"
The vendor explained that the most purchased item on the menu was their baked potato. Boiled potatoes mixed with some toppings and sauces and baked with mozzarella cheese.
"Oh that sounds good, I'll buy one then."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
Amanda nodded and looked around the park while waiting for her order to be finished.
While she was waiting, a little girl suddenly pulled her shirt, making Amanda turn to the girl. "Yes?"
"Excuse me Miss, would you like to buy my flowers? They're only $1 a stem." the little girl said.
Amanda's eyes could see that the girl was so dirty and she was not wearing any footwear. In her hands she carried a basket full of red roses. Looking at her Amanda felt like she was seeing her old self. She knelt down and aligned her eyes with the girl.
"Then I'll buy six flowers. Is there a ribbon to tie them together?"
"There! With the ribbon, it adds $1. The total is $7." The girl took six flowers and tied them together with a ribbon.
Amanda gave the girl the money, and she even gave the little girl her food order. Receiving the food from Amanda, the girl looked very happy.
"Thank you, Miss! You're very kind!" she exclaimed happily.
"You're welcome. Eat slowly, it's still hot."
The girl nodded and left with her food. Amanda was happy to see a smile on the girl's face. She stood up and looked at the food vendor.
"You're so kind, lady..." he complimented.
"Thank you. Then I'll have another one, is there any left?"
"Of course! I'll make it right away."
Amanda spent the day in the city center walking around and looking at things until late in the afternoon before returning home.
It was a tiring day but it was also fun because she was able to walk around and get an ultrasound of her baby.
