Waking up was not pleasant. Everything hurt. It felt like every cell in her body was burning and crawling in pain. Even trying to move hurt.
Even trying to think hurt.
Every time she thought of trying to do something it made her head burn like someone stabbed it with red-hot irons.
She whimpered and tried to roll over.
That sent a fresh wave of agony through her, and she screamed weakly.
Hands.
Those were hands.
Voices.
Voices talking to her, and that was somehow a comfort, even though she didn't recognize the sounds.
Someone gave her something, and the agony lessened, but she couldn't identify anything around her anymore.
When she finally opened her eyes again, she found herself in her bedroom, laying comfortably upon her luxurious mattress, with a concerned Tenshi sitting beside her on the edge of the bed.
He smiled kindly at her. "It is good to see you awake, my empress."
