Hearing Ruth Dawn's words, William Cole was slightly startled, then shook his head with a bitter smile, "Why must you do this?"
"We are husband and wife, family. Torturing me, what good does it do you?"
Ruth Dawn looked at William Cole with some resentment, "What good does it do?"
"You were my man, yet back then you were so unimpressive, either doing laundry and cooking at home or sweeping and washing dishes."
"I was exhausting myself outside, dealing with all sorts of social obligations."
"The scorn from my mother, and the mockery from my elder and second sister's families made me very irritable. I was always hoping that you would prove yourself one day, frustrated that you were not living up to your potential."
Ruth Dawn shook her head with a sigh, reflecting on her mindset back then.
"Later on, you did prove yourself, but life didn't develop in the direction I imagined. We drifted apart until in the end we became like strangers."
