"Captain Davis, what happened to you?"
Seeing Ricky Davis's expression, William Cole's heart tightened.
Ricky Davis's face was heavy, he looked intently at William Cole. "Don't you smell anything?"
"Smell?" William Cole was taken aback, then looked at Ricky Davis's serious expression. He sniffed the air twice, trying to pinpoint the scent lingering there.
The air carried the scent of the sea wind, mixed with a salty brine.
The cruise ship was originally in the sea, so this smell wasn't particularly unique.
But William had only sniffed for a moment, before he detected the real issue. His voice hardened, "The smell of blood!"
"Exactly."
Ricky Davis nodded. Being a veteran of several battlefields, he was highly sensitive to the smell of blood.
If it had been another place, William would have also been able to smell the bloody scent. But here, on a cruise ship out at sea, it was permeated by the sea wind.
