Chương 5: Get Stronger

Melromarc uses a system of metal pieces as its legal tender. The smallest unit is the bronze piece. 100 bronze pieces are equivalent to a single silver piece. 100 silver pieces are worth a single gold piece.

Normally people only needs around 250 to 300 experience point level up to the next level, but Morsan needs an additional 200 experience points to reach the next level and gets an additional two stats point. Each level needed different additional EXP requirements, mostly it was double what other people needed when they leveled up.

Even though it will get harder as he levels up, Morsan believes, those two bonus stats are worth enough to put in all of his efforts.

In this world, each person has different level caps depending on their growth potential, usually higher one's growth potential, the higher their level cap would be.

After reaching their level cap, they can't level up further until they class up. Each Kingdom has its own Hourglass of the Dragon's Era, that is in the control of its respective churches.

Once they class up, they could level up until they reach their new level cap.

When someone class up, not only they could open their new path and skill tree, but their base stats will be doubled.

Morgan firmly believes, that in the future each time he class up, these hard-earned additional stats will become incomparable assets.

Morsan looked at the shopkeeper's face a few moments before accepting his money.

The shopkeeper knew about Morsan's savings, since he, himself told him about it because to shopkeeper kept pestering him for only hunting Yellow Balloons for a long time. Both of them talked a lot about good blacksmiths around Castle Town, effective ways to use their money, and trustworthy merchants to buy goods.

Surprisingly, this shady shopkeeper was trustworthy enough for his good.

Merchants always had to rely on the trust they'd gained if they wanted to survive in this field. If he had tried to pull something shady on Adventurer, he'd have gotten a swift kick in the teeth for sure. And there was always the chance that his customers would stop showing up altogether.

When he was about to leave the shop he took another look at the shopkeeper. Some hesitation can be seen on his face as he was about to speak.

"Leinny.. thank you..."

It is hard for Morsan to thank Leinny whom he always mocked pettily whenever he sees the chance.

A shopkeeper named Leinny's lips curled up, showing a warm smile, unlike his usual shady smile.

He went straight to his inn after bidding his farewell to Leinny.

"Hey, do you wanna join my party?" said some guy, who thought a lot of himself.

'Again?..'

On the way, he met a young man who was about, 15-year-old with a huge grin on his face. Looking at his face, Morsan tried hard to prevent himself from sighing. He moved away after politely declining him.

That arrogant young man left as he scoffed at Morsan.

In this past year, Morsan got decently famous for hinting at monsters, people gossiped a lot about him being able to hunt monsters at his young age. So, there are a lot of people came and offered him, to join their party.

The problem is, these guys were too inexperienced and weaker than Morsan who was at least ten years younger than them. The only thing they better than him was their age.

Opposite of it, experienced adventurers never offered him a chance to join their team since he was too young and weak for their team.

'Honestly, I didn't like the idea of joining up with anyone at this point, especially after my dad was killed by his close friends whom he trusted and treated dearly like brothers. Besides, they all had this look in their eyes as if I was beneath them. Just looking at them makes me angry.'

He doesn't want to make the same mistake as his father.

Morsan knew the importance of a party would be irreplaceable, and without a proper party, it would get harder as he leveled up.

The proper party consists of six different roles such as tank (for blocking enemies and protecting allies, mainly healer), damage dealer (damaging enemies as much as possible), mage (for inflicting magical damage and buffs), archer (for long-ranged attacks, and scout), healer (for healing injuries in the middle of the battle) and assassin (for sneak attack enemy's mage and healer, detect traps and disable them quickly).

Morsan is a pure damage dealer.

He is considering buying demi-human slaves to form his party after he gets decently powerful in the future.

The Melromarc Kingdom tends to consider humans as higher-order creatures than the other types. It can be a tough place for beast-men and demi-humans to live.

Morsan saw a lot of demi-humans and beast-men around town, but, they were normally adventurers or traveling merchants. They were discriminated against and were only able to obtain lower-level work.

Because the demi-humans are, at least in this country, considered to be one step away from monsters, it's hard for them to live here, and they often end up sold into slavery.

'It would be a lie if I said, I am going to buy them only for forming a party. But I need to get older and stronger for everything he wants to do.'

In these few years, he painfully came to realize one universal truth that is common in every world,

BIG FUCKS SMALL.

It doesn't matter how good you are, it doesn't matter how capable you are, in front of absolute power like the Kingdom and Church, you couldn't do anything but lose everything you have like he lost his home.

Being weaker is the biggest sin in this unreasonable world.

'I can get stronger than any of these guys who were looking down on me now... and will...'

Finally, he arrived at the room he currently staying in, which was only filled with a bed for sleep and a wardrobe. It looked like an attic more than a room.
