Chương 25: Chapter 25: The Gryffin

"It's gorgeous. Sure, a bit smaller than a Ha'tak, but with its power... What will you call it?" Pansy asked him as they stood outside the only shipyard on Nimbus Prime. The population of the planet was barely big enough to man one, with all the other necessary industries around it. If it weren't for automation and the zero-point energy manipulation of the Magus Race, they would have taken longer than 4 months to construct their first spaceship.

This was also the reason why the first ship he designed was the small Morning Star Class; it was simply a matter of resources and the available workforce. The System Lords usually build their ships on worlds with populations in the millions; he had around 200,000 people.

On the bright side, now that the people knew what they were doing and the necessary facilities already existed, it would take less time. The current schedule says it will take three months until the next ship is ready.

A few things happened during the last few months: Earth had made contact with another civilization more advanced than the Goa'uld, the Tollan's. Before Harry even received the Repository of Knowledge, they had already made contact with the Nox.

The Nox are a humanoid race from the lush planet Gaia. Their civilization focuses on their symbiotic relationship with nature and practices strict pacifism and non-violence. In this galaxy full of war and conquerors, they accomplish this through their advanced technology, fooling any warmongers through illusion and invisibility. But most importantly, they are members of the Great Alliance, and Harry had no idea how they would react to a race that is a mix of Goa'uld and Alterans, their old ally. The Magus Empire incorporates the values of both the conquering and god-worship parts of the Goa'uld and the desire for knowledge and focus on science from the Alterans.

Which is a very dangerous combination and the complete antithesis of the Nox. So he chose to keep his distance from them. Right now, they were more powerful than him, and even pacifism could have a way to stop him, through brainwashing or something similar.

The Tollans are also more advanced than the Goa'uld, but not even close in comparison to the Nox, not mentioning the Ancients even when they were still called Alterans. But from what he had read in the SGC report, they had a few interesting pieces of technology. Research in different aspects than the Alterans did in the past could be worth talking to, if not for technology, then at least for trade. Although they may also be a good target for conquest to directly integrate into the Empire...

The other notable thing that happened was that Apophis attacked Earth. Of course, Harry had been ready to intervene and blow the two Ha'taks into pieces with the Drone Weapon Platform, but he waited and watched what SG-1 would do. They had managed to get their hands on a Stargate address for one of the Ha'taks and sneaked on it preemptively.

If there was a chance that he didn't need to reveal his presence on Earth, he would take it. He wasn't ready yet to reveal his true might to the galaxy. And his gamble paid off; SG-1 managed to destroy both ships from the inside.

And Earth, or at least the U.S., also began to study their first alien spacecraft. After the battle, they got their hands on some of the Death Gliders and started studying them. Harry ordered some of his Magi specializing in the military field to do something similar. They should study the weaponry, military culture, training, and strategy of Earth.

Today he was very pleased with that order; around him and Pansy stood a platoon of armed guards, protecting them while they inspected their new ship. All of the guards were armed with tactical combat gear, a result of their research into Earth's military.

During their research, they created the first iterations of a new type of weaponry by recycling the few thousand staff weapons left behind by Qetesh. Out of them, they created three new types of weapons: a stun blaster to capture targets; a Blaster rifle for lethal combat, which was more powerful than the staff weapon and had a higher fire rate; and an automatic Blaster cannon, even more powerful, intended to fight against vehicles or fortify positions since the recoil made it a stationary weapon on a stand.

But that wasn't all they developed; by taking inspiration from Earth, they created different attachments and tools to improve the efficiency of their weapons. Infrared sight, night vision, different visors, different tactical grenades, and so on. Also, a set of lightweight armor for each soldier was made out of a durable alloy the Ancients had discovered but never found a use for. The alloy was worse than the ones they used for ships but required rare materials, so they never found use for it. But since the Magus race right now didn't want to waste their Naquadah for soldier armor when they needed it for ships and critical pieces of technology, this alloy was a welcome alternative.

Pansy and their armored guards were looking at him in expectation before the commander of his guard platoon, who was called Talion, added, "Queen Pansy is right, God Emperor. Every noteworthy vessel needs a name. Especially the first one of your great empire."

"Sigh, I know, it already took me a few days to come up with the ship class." Harry grumbled a bit; naming things wasn't his strong suit. "I decree that the name of our first ship shall be 'Gryffin'!"

Pansy stared at him with a deadpan, while the guards appreciated the name. "Typical Gryffindor," she mumbled, while Harry blushed a bit.

"Let's go take a look at the inside," he said, not paying attention to Pansy's comment.

The ship was a beautiful sight from the inside, having a modern, mostly white look with a few blue elements here and there. It has a carrying capacity of 450,000 tons and is designed to be able to transport 500 troops. While possessing multiple storage rooms for any goods it picks up on its journey.

While the Pel'tak, or control room, of Goa'uld vessels had an Egyptian look, this ship's was modern and futuristic, still controlled by physical buttons and computers encoded to only work for people with the Magus gene, and multiple HUDs were projectable and customizable all over the control room.

"Shall we test this baby out?" Harry asked, taking the main control chair in the center of the control room. The contingent of 50 guards he had with him would have to be enough. Still focusing mostly on production, his military wasn't the biggest; of the around 200,000 people on this planet, only 200 became soldiers for now. They simply didn't have the people to spare on soldiers.

That doesn't mean his troops were weak; each one of them was training daily as a full-time soldier. From close combat training to shooting and different combat situations, Each one is equipped with technologically advanced weaponry but is efficient at the same time, unlike the Jaffa of other System Lords, who are only equipped with unwieldy and big staff weapons. The efficiency of his troops was multiple times higher than that of a Jaffa, able to take at least 5–10 out by themselves.

So he wasn't worried about the strength of his troops. 50 were more than enough to test this baby out.
