I stiffly turned around to confront the voice, but what I saw made me gasp.
Jonas stood there, arms crossed, his face dark and serious.
"I'm leaving," I said as I backed away.
'What's up with this guy anyway? Wasn't he just in a thrusting session not too long ago?'
"You're leaving?" He repeated.
His tone was sharp and cold.
I nodded, "Yes."
"Why? Why would you leave now?" His question sounded as though I would have committed some gross sin if I stepped out of the building.
"Because I overheard something that upset me."
'Did he know I had overheard her and Mrs. Jenkins?'
Now wasn't the time to be paranoid. I shook off the thought and hardened my resolve.
"I really need to leave right now, sir." I said this as I gave a slight bow.
This was enough of a mental signal to be the final part of our conversation.
