Chương 53: The God Killer

The Moltres, enraged by the intrusion into its domain, spread its wings wide, casting a fiery glare upon the fools who dared disturb its slumber. It had sensed their presence the moment they entered its territory, but it had initially dismissed them, assuming they were affiliated with the Blackthorn family, with whom it maintained a tenuous neutrality. However, as the bone-chilling cold of the attackers' devices pierced its consciousness, the Moltres realized the true nature of the threat.

Though momentarily weakened by the frigid assault, the legendary bird's fiery essence surged within, swiftly overcoming the icy intrusion. Anger flared within its molten core as it recognized the intent of these interlopers—to harm and disrupt. With a resounding cry that echoed across the mountain peaks, Moltres vowed to teach them a lesson they would not soon forget.

Despite its youthful state, the Moltres possessed the pride and power befitting a legendary Pokémon. It would not tolerate any disrespect or threat to its sovereignty. Even if members of the Blackthorn family were to arrive, they would find themselves consumed by the same flames that now roared with righteous fury at the intrusion.

As the legendary bird prepared to mete out its fiery justice, the intruders would soon realize the grave folly of their actions in awakening the wrath of a creature whose flames burned with the intensity of legend.

Blaine addressed the rest of Team Rocket, including the executives present. "Spread out and form a perimeter around the Pokémon. Do not let it escape!" Despite their reluctance, they carried out their duty under the immense pressure emanating from the Moltres. Turning to the three Epic-ranked trainers, Blaine smirked. "Fine. I will lead from the front. Let's catch ourselves a legendary."

"Come on, Ariana. Let's move and surround the Moltres," Proton said, gaining some confidence from Blaine's actions. However, Ariana quickly grabbed Proton by the neck. "If you want to get out of this alive, follow me! I'm not going to tell you again. The only reason I'm offering you a way out is because you're my brother." Ariana repositioned herself, sticking closely to Blaine.

She realized that Blaine must have some nefarious plan, and observing his every action would provide them with the best chance of survival. Flanked by their three Aurora-stage Pokémon each, Ariana and Proton stayed in the vicinity of Blaine.

Suddenly, hundreds of Pokémon surrounded the Moltres, and under Blaine's lead, all the Pokémon started attacking the legendary Pokémon. However, Moltres stood unfazed, its wings generating more flames to shield itself from the attacks. Only the attacks of the Epic Pokémon seemed to damage Moltres, but it was more of an annoyance.

The epic-stage Onix fired a hyper beam at Moltres's face, enraging it. Moltres then locked onto the epic-stage Onix and descended with an aerial ace, severing the massive head of the Onix, which fell to the ground with a resounding thud. Moltres flew back into the sky, sending out a bone-chilling cry as if mocking the ants below.

Blaine froze in his stride as he witnessed the blatant display of power from the legendary Pokémon. Even an epic-stage Pokémon, capable of making a trainer a hegemon of this world, was easily dispatched by Moltres with one slash of its wings. Blaine's mind raced with thoughts as his earlier plans seemed inadequate to survive.

Fortunately, the rock seat holder, consumed with rage, charged forward after seeing his headless Onix. Blaine carefully stepped back, letting three of his Pokémon rush forward while keeping his strongest Magmortar behind. Blaine, as long as he survived, would sacrifice his own Pokémon without hesitation.

Ariana noticed Blaine's subtle move and quickly recalled her strongest Pokémon, releasing her weaker ones in exchange. Her brother followed suit. Amidst the chaos, no one paid attention to the actions of the two executives as the members themselves rushed forward, following the rock seat holder.

As the Moltres saw more Pokémon charging in foolishly, it decided not to drag the fight for too long. Initiating an incinerate attack, its entire body turned into an embodiment of fire.

"Hydro Pump!" the Epic Water Trainer commanded her Pokémon. Currently, she is the best deterrent against the Moltres. However, just as the three powerful beams of water were a few meters away from Moltres's burning form, the entire attack evaporated due to the overwhelming heat. No matter how much more water was poured out, it didn't seem to breach the invisible flaming barrier.

Suddenly, with a deafening cry, Moltres plunged into the volcano crater. Within moments, the entire peak rumbled in ferocity, the already active volcano riled up more, and suddenly, the ground where the Team Rocket members were standing split apart, and thick pillars of lava shot out from the ground, burning everything in its path to a crisp.

As an added measure, Moltres released an overheat, which burned everything in its wake, charring the entire peak. The attack consumed more than a mile of radius, burning everything in its path—Pokémon, humans, everything caught in the path—to ashes. Only the Epic Pokémon seemed to use their domain to stay safe from the overwhelming lava, but even then, they had to use all their strength to survive the attack. Luckily, Blaine had Fire-type Pokémon who seemed not as affected by the lava.

Moltres pierced through the ground and started hunting the Pokémon that had survived the volcanic onslaught. The next few minutes were absolute carnage as the Moltres even charged down any pokemon or human that tried to escape, as if a predator had entered a flock of prey.

With the brutal display of power, it was absolutely clear to everyone that they stood no chance. Everyone instinctively turned to where Blaine was for further instructions, but then there was no sign of their leader amidst the carnage from Moltres. However, three of his Pokémon were still locked in combat with the Moltres.

"That bastard left us for dead!" the water Epic-stage trainer screamed as she saw her Gyarados torn apart by Moltres. Due to the chaos, they were concentrating on Moltres, and with Blaine's Pokémon still there, they had momentarily forgotten to keep an eye on Blaine, who had somehow managed to slip through this mana-filled environment.

"That bastard even left his Pokémon behind," the ground seat holder remarked. He was faring a little better because he had yet to lose any of his Pokémon. The worst part was that Moltres had already marked all the Epic Pokémon that had attacked it and was eliminating them one at a time.

Just then, a loud roar reverberated throughout the field as Moltres pierced through the epic-level Golem, leaving behind a dead Golem corpse. On the talon of Moltres was a charred figure—it was none other than the Rock seat holder, who had blindly charged in to challenge the Moltres. Seeing its trainer and partners perish, the epic-stage Bastiodon roared, charging at the Moltres with fury. But despite its anger, it stood no chance against Moltres.

The Bastiodon fired a powerful meteor beam, which hit the back of Moltres squarely, sending it reeling back. The Ground Pokémon had channeled all its rage into the attack. The remaining two Epic trainers thought this was their way out, so they commanded their respective psychic Pokémon to teleport out of this nightmare.

Epic-level Claydol and Slowbro quickly fell back to the side of their respective trainers, who immediately wanted to teleport out. But Moltres was not going to let its targets escape like the few rats that had escaped earlier from its large-scale attack.

With a resounding cry, Moltres ignored the rage-filled Bastiodon for now and ascended into the sky. Just as the two Pokémon were about to teleport away, it unleashed its complete power and fired a powerful fire blast to incinerate everything in its path. Under the pressure of the fiery domain of Moltres, the two epic Pokémon couldn't escape the incoming attack in time.

The ground specialist had already recalled his two Epic Pokémon after being confident he could teleport out, but his act of recalling his Pokémon spelled his doom. However, luckily for the water seat holder, an Epic-level Blastoise appeared before her and shielded her from the attack, while the Slowbro forcefully teleported itself alongside the trainer, leaving the Blastoise at Moltres's mercy. The other Epic trainer was not as lucky, as he and his Claydol were completely engulfed by flame and lava and turned to ashes.

Moltres flapped its wings and flew high again, surveying the area. Everything around for miles was ablaze—a mixture of flame and lava. The entire main peak had been disfigured beyond recognition. Not even the bones of the people or Pokémon that attacked it remained, with only a few exceptions here and there. The Epic Pokémon roared in fury, limping as one of its limbs was burned down to the bone. Moltres now entertained the idea of causing some carnage below, outside its territory. Seemingly, humans had forgotten its might.

Just then, a strong presence locked onto it, and with a powerful roar, a legendary-stage Charizard flew near to it, as if denying it any further actions. Moltres was angry, but then it was also watching the new Pokémon carefully. Unlike the previous ants, this Pokémon was different. Although not as strong as itself, it gave off an aura capable only of being exuded by legendary-level Pokémon. Even the Charizard's fiery domain clashed with its own.

The charizard growled, asking Moltres to return peacefully. But the rage of the legendary Pokémon had yet to subside, so it screeched back in defiance and suddenly fired a flamethrower without warning. The Charizard, however, was ready and countered with its own Flamethrower to match the fiery onslaught of the legendary Pokémon. Neither Pokémon was ready to give in, but Moltres was steadily pushing back the Charizard's Flamethrower with each passing second. Cecilia's Charizard was a recently ascended Pokémon, so it was currently inferior to Moltres's might.

"Your Charizard is being overpowered," Red commented in awe, the Pikachu on his shoulder missing.

Cecilia, observing the clash of fiery beams that was approaching her Charizard, was not as surprised. She had a trump card of her own, so she smirked and clenched her fist.

"Not for long," she said. The keystone on her pendant glowed, and the charizard in the sky understood her partner's intention. Quickly tapping into the bond with Cecilia, and with a bright glow covering its entire form, the Charizard bloomed to twice its size, now matching the massive form of Moltres. Immediately, Mega Charizard, the Flying-type variant, appeared, and its Flamethrower surged with power, pushing back Moltres's attack and returning to a stalemate.

Red was completely caught off guard by that monstrous powerup and awesome transformation, but he knew that it must be a secret of the Blackthorn family, so he didn't pry into it further. But it seemed like even that was not enough to overpower Moltres. He sighed and mentally communicated with his partner, "Pikachu, it's time to hit him with your best thunder!"

Suddenly, the entire night sky roared amidst the two fiery domains that had lit up the night sky. Countless yellow lightning streaks crossed as a powerful thunder domain expanded out of Mega Charizard's back.

"Pika, Pika, Pikachuuuuu!!!!!" A streak of massive thunder tore through the flaming night sky and descended on Moltres, which was locked in a clash between Flamethrower and Mega Charizard.

Moltres, caught off guard by the sudden surge of power, attempted to counter with all its might. But it was too late. The thunderous bolt struck true, engulfing Moltres in a brilliant explosion of light and energy.

However, that was not the end of the pseudo-legendary Pikachu's onslaught. As Moltres faltered, more thunder strikes descended, and with every strike, the legendary bird Pokémon sank lower, unable to hover at the same level as Mega Charizard. Thunder after thunder struck as the little yellow Pokémon bent the lightning bolts to its will. After a dozen thunder strikes, Moltres was completely overwhelmed.

Cecilia's Charizard had been waiting for this opportunity. With a blazing charge, engulfing itself in flames, it slammed into Moltres using Flare Blitz.

With a deafening cry, Moltres was launched towards the ground at breakneck speed, crashing with tremendous force. A huge crater formed upon impact, sending shockwaves through the surrounding landscape. Mega Charizard, undeterred by the legendary bird's resilience, continued its assault, unleashing a powerful Draco meteor. The sky seemed to split as a massive meteor hurtled towards the crashing Moltres.

Meanwhile, Pikachu, empowered by its pseudo-legendary status, sent a massive thunderbolt crackling through the air. While it might not cause substantial damage to Moltres, there was a chance the lightning could paralyze the Pokémon, restraining it to some extent.

Before the attacks could land, Moltres picked itself up, shaking off the dust and debris. With a powerful beat of its wings, it ascended into the sky in the blink of an eye. Countering the incoming assaults, Moltres unleashed a massive blast burn of its own.

As the attacks clashed, the environment itself seemed to change. The night sky was illuminated with fiery hues as the energy of the clashes painted streaks of vibrant colors. The half-destroyed peak crumbled further, sending boulders tumbling down its slopes. The last remnants of Moltres' nest were obliterated, and lava flowed like a river, engulfing everything in its path.

Pokémon inhabiting the area fled in a panic, seeking safer ground as the molten rock devoured the landscape. The battle between titans raged on, with the very earth bearing witness to their epic clash.

As events unfolded across the Blackthorn domain, the focal point was at the heart of Blackthorn City. The League had launched simultaneous attacks throughout the Blackthorn domain, effectively cutting off communications. But what they did not know was that it was the Blackthorns themselves effectively blocking all information exchange, as they did not want anyone to escape.

The chairman back at Viridian City was in the dark, unable to contact most of the teams sent to attack Blackthorn strongholds. Despite having jammer devices, without exact knowledge of the situation, he couldn't calm himself down. The only reassurance was his communication line with the legendary-ranked trainer tasked with destroying the Blackthorns.

As long as Blackthorn City fell, the rest would follow. So, he waited anxiously for the outcome. Unbeknownst to him, out of over 200 thousand trainers sent, more than three-quarters had been annihilated, and the rest were being hunted down. Even with the League's numerical advantage, the Blackthorn trainers' quality made the fight one-sided.

"Ah, such a beautiful city," the old man murmured, observing Blackthorn City. "How long has it been since I last laid eyes on it? Quite a few things seem to have changed. Even the barrier looks sturdy. I might need to put some effort into destroying this one."

His aura flared briefly, but then a suffocating, bloodthirsty aura overwhelmed it. "Who's there?" he demanded, releasing his two legendary-ranked Pokémon. As a legendary-ranked trainer for centuries, he was not easily overpowered. He narrowed his gaze toward the direction of the burst aura.

An old man emerged from the shadows with steady steps, his aura pressing down on the enemy. The Blackthorn ancestor eyed the NidoKing and NidoQueen, the opponent's two legendary Pokémon, but continued forward casually.

"You're still alive? How is that possible? You should be dead," the old man blurted out upon recognizing Blackthorn's ancestor. Suddenly, he realized something was amiss. Where were the forces meant to besiege Blackthorn City? The League had mustered close to 50 thousand trainers for the task.

"Lance, hasn't anyone taught you it's rude to intrude into someone's house without permission?" the ancestor questioned, as if talking to an old friend. "I thought the League would enlist newly ascended legendary trainers to help them out, but it seems I've underestimated their resolve. They must have offered you something enticing to tempt fate once more," he chuckled.

Just then, a Pokémon launched itself from the darkness, aiming for the ancestor's head. However, a dragonite materialized and intervened, sending the legendary Scizor reeling back with a thunder punch.

"Well, well, who would have guessed you're not alone? You've managed to rope in someone else on this suicide mission of yours. Welcome to my humble home, Dexter!" The Blackthorn ancestor chuckled, noticing the newcomer.

"You bastard! You're still alive. It seems like Arceus has blessed me today to have my revenge at last. How many years have it been, Arthur? I was worried initially because there were rumors that you were already dead," Dexter stepped out. Originally, they had thought to catch Arthur off guard using the jammer device provided by the League, but Arthur seemed prepared, effortlessly releasing his Pokémon.

Arthur's gaze remained steady, his aura radiating confidence. "Long enough for you to forget that I've already killed one of your legendary Pokémon, Dexter. And Lance, have you forgotten about how you ran away last time? You literally used your friend as bait to escape back then, didn't you?" His words cut through the tension, each syllable dripping with disdain. Despite the clash of auras, Arthur's dominance was evident, overshadowing the others.

Lance felt a knot of unease form in his stomach. He had hoped Arthur was dead, but now faced with his prime condition, he silently calculated their odds of victory. The League forces hadn't even begun their attack, and Lance hoped their arrival would provide a distraction from the monster before them.

The Blackthorn ancestor seemed to read Lance's thoughts. "If you're waiting for the League forces, forget about them. My descendants are taking care of them as we speak," Arthur chuckled, sending a chill down their spines as the gravity of the situation sank in.

"It's a trap!" Lance roared, realization dawning. However, Dexter, consumed by his deep-seated hatred for the Blackthorns, remained composed. With four legendary Pokémon among them, they posed a formidable threat. Without hesitation, he released his second legendary Pokémon, a Heracross, showcasing his prowess as a bug type specialist.

"Tell me, Arthur, how do you plan to handle all four of our Pokémon?" Dexter taunted, a sinister gleam in his eye. "Today, I finally feel like a god. I'll have my chance at killing the infamous Arthur Blackthorn myself." His words hung heavy in the air, signaling the beginning of a legendary clash.

Arthur dismissed the man's taunts with a disdainful expression. "Dexter, a fool like you could raise another legendary stage Pokémon. Do you think that after all these years, I might not have raised another one of my own?" Suddenly, in addition to the legendary Dragonite guarding his back, three more powerful auras materialized around Arthur: Swampert, Medicham, and finally, the strongest of Arthur's Pokémon, the monstrous Kangaskhan. Its sheer presence suppressed the other four legendary Pokémon. At that moment, a massive barrier enveloped the entire area for miles.

"Dark Emitters! And Spectral Blockades!" Lance's expression twisted with increasing ugliness. Originally, he had thought they would have the advantage in numbers, but reality had proved him wrong. The fight was no longer in their favor, and all their escape routes had been sealed off. They would not be able to escape with teleportation or ghost Pokémon.

"You planned for all of this from the beginning, didn't you?" Even Dexter felt a creeping uncertainty gnawing at his heart as memories of his past defeat resurfaced. Arthur's voice cut through the tension once more.

With a sinister smile on his face, Arthur chimed in, "You may consider yourself a god, Dexter, but I am a god killer!" With that, all four of his legendary Pokémon locked onto a single opponent and initiated the attack.
