Chương 31: Rune Class
On the following day,
Lucca attended morning classes in language, physical education, geography, and mathematics. After lunch, he headed to his first magic class.
The first class was about magic and mana. Lucca didn't learn anything new; some nobles even complained about having classes with peasants, but they couldn't change anything, only complain.
The class focused on performing a spell and how to accumulate mana within oneself.
The class lasted for two hours, and the next class was on elements. Again, Lucca didn't learn anything new because everything they taught, he had already learned from his mother.
As soon as the elemental class ended, Lucca had to wait a few minutes until a woman arrived.
She had hair as black as midnight, with strands subtly glowing in electric blue hues. Her eyes, a deep blue, shone with an intensity that seemed to absorb the essence of magical nature. Her skin, gently illuminated by a soft magical light, had a pale touch that seemed to capture the moonlight. Intricately designed magical tattoos adorned her arms, emitting a gentle glow. She was dressed in an ethereal fabric cloak.
"Hello, class!" greeted the teacher.
"Hello, teacher," the students responded.
The teacher asked the students to introduce themselves and explain why they chose this discipline. Many mentioned money as their motivation, knowing that becoming an excellent rune forger could provide them with enough wealth to never need to do anything else. The teacher agreed with this perspective. Others said they chose it because their parents already had this job, and they had seen their parents creating runes. It was simply following in their parents' footsteps. Lucca, like others, was just curious and wanted to try it out. Once this introduction was completed, the class finally began.
"This class, as the name suggests, is about runes and symbols. But can anyone tell me why this subject is so different from the others?
"Because it has nothing to do with combat magic?" a student replied.
"What you said is true, but only to a certain extent. Not everyone can create high-level runes. Can anyone tell me why?" asked the teacher.
"Because of our mana capacity?" a student asked, with a fearful tone in response.
That's right! How many of you, the first time you saw yours stats, had more than 20 in magic and mana? she asked again.
Seeing that everyone raised their hands, Lucas also raised his and thought to himself, 'I'm going to have to raise mine, or they'll think I'm the weird one! After all, to have more than 20, I just needed to train, so I'm not exactly lying!'

"But if we level up and only hunt mobs that give a large amount of mana and magic, wouldn't that solve this?" a blonde girl asked.
"It can help, but if you focus so much on hunting, it means you won't have as much time to master your rune creation skills!" revealed the teacher. She paused and continued.
"Can anyone tell me the difference between magic used for creation and magic intended for war?"
A red-haired boy raised his hand, and the teacher gave him the floor. "Magic for causing damage requires a higher magic capacity, and without an enormous amount of mana, but creation magic is completely the opposite, requiring less magic and a lot of mana!" he spoke with a proud tone and expression.
"Attack magic is correct! But for creation magic, there's something I need to add. The more magic stats you have, the stronger the rune becomes." Hearing this, the previously confident student didn't look as pleased.
The teacher continued, "Mana capacity is needed not only to overcome the high mana density required for a rune but also because each individual rune requires its own spell to be engraved on the object.
The spell is relatively simple and short, but you need to be able to cast them in rapid succession without delay. This is because, as soon as mana is poured into the object where the rune is being made, the mana tries to escape, and even a perfect circle can only hold on for a while.
Usually, after you make the circle, you have about 2 seconds for it not to destabilize, and then the mana starts leaking. This means that if I have to engrave more than one rune, I have to do it quickly and have a lot of mana reserved to complete all the procedures.
But remember, once an object is saturated with mana, if the forging process fails, it cannot be repeated. The remnants of mana and magic from the previous failure would still remain, making any future attempt a waste of time.
For you to make a living by forging runes, you have to be prepared to have a lot of patience, many hours of research, and always be in your best physical condition!
Because manipulating this magnitude of mana and magic is not for everyone. Excessive exposure to these two energies can be quite fatal if you abuse the amount of physical and mental effort, especially if you suffer any kind of damage. Furthermore, not only can it be permanent, but it can also accumulate!"
Upon hearing what the teacher said, all the students began to feel concerned. Dealing with runes, some even started to consider whether it's better to leave or never come back to this class!
