Chương 655: Chapter 655: Warner invitation!

As Martin prepared to head back to the studio, a sleek Lexus pulled up beside the bustling road where "The Martian" crew was stationed. Out stepped Jerry Bruckheimer and Megan Ellison, figures of power and influence in Hollywood.

Though Bruckheimer had never crossed paths with Martin, their circles inevitably overlapped. A nod passed between them before Bruckheimer made his way into the studio.

Megan, however, lingered, her gaze fixed on Martin, a smile playing on her lips. Her initial indifference towards him had soured into disdain ever since the Oscar luncheon debacle where Martin seemingly stole Jessica Chastain from under her nose.

Martin, the consummate actor, brushed off her presence as if she were inconsequential.

Megan, fueled by her recent victories over Martin, strode confidently towards him. "You lose," she declared, her tone dripping with superiority.

Unfazed, Martin continued on his way, ignoring her taunts.

Undeterred, Megan pressed on. "In funds and strength, you pale in comparison to me," she asserted, gesturing towards the impending production led by Bruckheimer.

Martin had no interest in engaging in a spat, especially not with Megan. He strode towards the safety of the "Mars" crew's studio, leaving Megan seething in his wake.

Frustration mounted within Megan, her plans to antagonize Martin thwarted yet again. But before she could dwell on his escape, she mustered a sarcastic thank you, intended to sting.

Martin's response was clipped, his anger barely contained. Megan, sensing an opportunity, discreetly signaled her bodyguards, ready for any confrontation.

Martin's simmering rage mirrored a volcano on the brink of eruption.

Megan egged him on, hoping to provoke a response that would justify her hired muscle's intervention – a spectacle fit for a high-stakes business battleground.

But Martin held his tongue, offering only a terse acknowledgment before retreating into the studio, leaving Megan simmering with a mix of frustration and twisted satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Martin's back, rigid with tension, conveyed defeat – a poignant image of a man retreating from battle.

As Megan savored her small victory, her mind wandered to future encounters with Martin, filled with possibilities and opportunities for further manipulation.

Inside the studio, Louise, ever the voice of reason, questioned Martin's confrontation with Megan. But Martin remained resolute, determined to assert his confidence in the face of formidable competition led by Bruckheimer's seasoned team.

"I'm confident in the project. Always have been," Martin reiterated, his conviction unwavering. "Especially with Johnny Depp onboard."

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise not only brought forth a swashbuckling captain but also a seasoned superstar capable of captivating audiences worldwide.

Surveying the scenic setup and inspecting the crew's potato crop, Martin pondered the challenges ahead. With most scenes featuring the male lead as a solo act, the pressure to shine was immense.

His plan to spend ten days alone in the Mars barracks was twofold – an opportunity for method preparation and a publicity stunt in the making.

Emerging from the barracks, Martin encountered Thomas, who bore an invitation to the premiere of "Pharaohs and Gods," personally signed by Jon Berg of Warner Pictures.

"I'll attend," Martin confirmed, mindful of the courtesy owed to Ridley Scott, the film's director, and his ongoing collaboration with Warner.

Thomas shared news of DC Films' promising "Green Lantern" test screening, stirring excitement in Martin's camp. Though he hadn't seen the film, Martin remained cautiously optimistic.

The following morning, Martin glimpsed the film's poster, noting the replacement of Blake Lively with Australian actor Abby Coney. His influence had swayed Lively's decision to opt for "Pitch Perfect" instead.

With the Mars camp ready and awaiting his solitary stay, Martin pivoted to a meeting at the "Napoleon Beauty" studio. There, Marius, Alexandrovich, and Olena, the screenwriter-producer trio, sought his input on their ambitious TV series concept.

Perched in the conference room, Martin pored over Olena's outline, sensing a disconnect between the story's lofty aspirations and relatable characters. Stars, he realized, existed in a realm far removed from ordinary folk.

"This setting isn't quite right," Martin observed, prompting a discussion among the creative team.

"Are Ukrainians content with their leaders, or are they revolted?" he inquired.

Alexandrovich's response was grim. "Ukraine's under the grip of oligarchy. A handful control the country and its economic pulse. Ordinary folk struggle to survive. The mass exodus of young Ukrainian women speaks volumes."

Martin nodded, recalibrating their approach. "Our initial concept was flawed. Our protagonist, an entertainment star, felt disconnected. Here's my proposal: an ordinary individual, not too low in social standing, with enough intellect to evolve. Starting from the grassroots, he ascends to challenge the political elite."

Marius grasped the vision instantly. "A commoner's rise to power, aligning with the nation's fate. It fosters audience engagement and anticipation."

"Indeed," Martin agreed. "Our protagonist begins as a hapless middle-aged man, burdened by life's trials. Yet, he represents the voice of the people and orchestrates a remarkable comeback."

Inspired, Alexandrovich pitched the character of a history teacher. "His knowledge equips him to critique societal ills," he suggested.

Martin approved, recognizing the potential. "A history teacher is fitting. Historical insight lends weight to his narrative."

The floodgates of creativity opened as Alexandrovich outlined the character's journey – from principled educator to courageous leader challenging oligarchic corruption.

Marius chimed in, highlighting the narrative's resonance with current Ukrainian anxieties.

"Ukrainians yearn for change," Alexandrovich affirmed. "Our protagonist embodies their hope for a better future."

Martin envisioned the series as a catalyst for transformation. "If it offers Ukrainians a glimpse of a brighter reality, it'll be a triumph."

Addressing his collaborators, Martin expressed his unwavering confidence. "You're Ukraine's finest," he declared.

Concerns about production logistics arose, but Martin assured them of his support. "Proceeds from 'Napoleon Beauty' will fund production. We'll secure North American broadcast, but Ukraine's distribution is your responsibility."

Marius reassured them, emphasizing the significance of North American exposure and local broadcast.

With the concept solidified, Martin named the series "Servant of the People."

Observing Martin's leadership, Olena remarked, "He's a generous and charismatic leader."

Upon Martin's return, the team finalized their plans, unified in their commitment to bring "Servant of the People" to life.
