Chương 609: Chapter 609: Test to Join The Group!

While the occupants of the bedroom still slumbered, Martin had already ventured out, heading for the Brooklyn Studio.

Downstairs, Bruce awaited in his car by the door.

Martin entered the car and urged, "Let's get going."

Bruce initiated the car's engine and relayed, "Chad wanted me to inform you that today's filming schedule has been adjusted. The action scenes are postponed until Wednesday, and we'll start with the dialogue scenes between you and Mene."

Martin instantly grasped the situation, muttering, "Chad clearly lacks confidence in me."

Bruce cast a sidelong glance at Martin and taunted, "You're wearing your overindulgence on your face."

Martin lowered the visor and shot a middle finger at old Bruce.

Bruce chuckled.

Traffic congestion ahead slowed their progress. Martin dialed down the cold air, settled into a more comfortable position, and announced, "I'm going to catch a few winks."

Bruce replied, "I'll wake you when we arrive."

...

Sunlight seeped through the curtains, rousing Taylor from her slumber. She gently extricated herself from Selena, who had been sleeping against her thigh, sat up, and stretched.

Glancing around, she noted Martin's absence from the room. She recalled his intention to head to the set early this morning to resume work.

Taylor mused, "Does work really top being with us? What a guy."

Karlie Kloss stirred awake and inched over. Her tall stature occupied substantial space. This movement also stirred Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne from their slumber.

Selena's immediate reaction was, "Taylor, let me see the song you penned last night. We should sing it together. My throat feels pretty good."

Taylor pushed her away with a grimace, remarking, "your mouth tastes like seafood. Go brush your teeth first."

Several of them trooped into the bathroom together. After freshening up, Taylor retrieved the newly written song and handed it to Selena.

Selena examined the notes and hummed, "Shall we give it a try together?"

"Since we don't have any instruments here, let's sing it a cappella," Taylor suggested.

The two hummed the new verse Taylor had crafted the previous night.

"We couldn't wait to snatch your passport and whisk you away to a deserted island. In just one week, we can transform you, a rogue, into a good lad, ensuring you either live forever or plunge into the fiery abyss. We're equally enamored with this game. We're young and audacious, indifferent to the consequences, venturing further and further along this path..."

Taylor hadn't completed the song, and the two ran out of lyrics at this point.

Karlie applauded enthusiastically, "You sang beautifully! Your voice sounds even more enchanting!"

She burst into laughter, exclaiming, "It even carries a seafood aroma, a scent that's uniquely Martin's!"

Cara quirked an eyebrow and chimed in humorously, "This song doesn't have a title yet, right? How about calling it 'For Martin'?"

Selena exclaimed, "That's a great name!"

Taylor had another idea, proposing, "How about simply 'For You'? No names mentioned."

Curious, Karlie inquired, "Why?"

Rather than promoting hype and self-promotion, everyone present considered themselves sisters. Taylor explained, "Have any of you seen 'Inception'?"

Cara Delevingne nodded. "I have."

Taylor inquired, "Did the ending pique your curiosity?"

Karlie chimed in, "In my quest to find evidence that Martin had returned to reality, I purchased three tickets."

"Suspense breeds speculation, speculation sparks curiosity, and curiosity fuels consumption," Taylor analyzed for them. "This ending was a highly successful marketing move."

She reminded them, "Director Nolan mentioned that this ending was Martin's idea. I not only drew inspiration from him but also garnered various promotional opportunities."

Karlie grasped the implications, "Once the song is released, based on the lyrics, there will undoubtedly be speculation about who you're referencing, who 'we' are, the events we shared, our training, and more. All of it can become newsworthy points that the media and fans will obsess over."

Taylor playfully draped her arms around Karlie neck and hung onto her, saying, "You're one smart cookie."

Selena revisited the lyrics and hummed them once more.

"Wow, your voice has even more volume than before," Karlie remarked. She pushed Taylor aside, grasped Selena's face, and coaxed her to open her mouth wide. "Let me see, is the physical throat opening and high-protein hydration truly effective?"

Selena rolled her eyes, retorting, "It's not like you haven't tried it before."

Cara Delevingne sprang up, exclaiming, "Sisters, cheer for me! I've achieved the ultimate fan status!"

Taylor mischievously proposed, "You should go find Blake Lively and proudly announce that I've attained what you have."

Cara nodded enthusiastically, "Great idea, I'll flaunt it to her later."

"Sisters, sisters!"

Taylor rose and moved to the opposite side of the trio. She clapped her hands together and declared, "Our connection now is extraordinary, and we're best friends from this moment on."

Karlie cheered, "Taylor's Best Friends Club!"

The other two chimed in, "Taylor's Best Friends Club!"

With a smile, Taylor continued, "As best friends, we'll support each other and frequently be seen together, creating a gathering effect that attracts more attention."

The other three readily comprehended this concept.

Taylor added, "In the future, we'll certainly make new friends. What if they want to join our bestie group?"

Selena proposed an idea, "We can make them wrestle Justin Bieber!"

"We should be more ladylike!" Karlie protested. "How can we engage in physical combat with a guy?"

Taylor clapped her hands once more, announcing, "I have an idea, and I'd like to hear your thoughts. Have any of you heard of the supermodel group in the fashion industry? The sole criterion for joining is Martin. Shouldn't we establish a joining test for our bestie group?"

Karlie Kloss inquired, "The sole criterion being Martin?"

Selena voiced her agreement, "I think it's a good idea!"

Cara Delevingne shouted, "Agreed!"

"Alright, it's unanimous," Taylor declared, solidifying the decision. "Only by experiencing something special together can we establish the most basic trust as best friends."

Karlie Kloss added, "Indeed, if you can't do that, you're not worthy of being our bestie!"

Taylor exited the room, instructing, "Ladies, let's do our makeup and change outfits. It's time for a shopping spree. My agent has already arranged for street photographers."

...

The Brooklyn Studio was laid out similarly to the Continental Hotel set.

Martin donned a black suit as he entered the set.

Mene approached from the opposite side, dressed in a matching suit and tie.

Director Chad joined the two and instructed, "Maintain the style from the previous film." He turned to Mene and added, "You need to bring depth to your performance."

Mene nodded and replied, "I understand."

Chad shifted his gaze to Martin and instructed, "Add more scars and bloodstains."

A makeup artist hurried over.

Martin took a seat and allowed the makeup artist to apply smudges and bloodstains to his face.

Chad also cautioned, "Make sure the wounds are concentrated on the forehead and ears, so they won't affect Martin's frontal close-ups."

Shortly after, filming officially commenced. Martin entered through the door and made his way towards the bar where Mene stood.

Mene turned his head, fixed his gaze on Martin, and uttered, "Jonathan..."

Martin replied, "He burned down my house."

Mene maintained a serious expression, stating, "Because you refused his emblem."

Behind the director's monitor, Chad scrutinized the actors' performances intently.

Martin effortlessly embodied his character, and Mene's acting skills had notably improved, particularly his commanding voice when speaking.

After concluding the morning's filming, Chad called for a break, announcing that the scene had passed.

During the filming hiatus, Martin retrieved the script to familiarize himself with the lines, while Mene had already committed them to memory.

The next scene required the two to engage in a lengthy dialogue.

Having spent the morning pretending to be cool, Martin's mind was swarmed with lines.

Mene channeled Winston's demeanor in his dialogue delivery.

During lunch, Bruce quipped at Mene, "Man, are you so content being a hotel owner that you don't want to step out?"

Mene, with a solemn expression and a mellifluous tone, responded, "Bruce, you could enroll at the Continental Hotel and become a hitman."

Martin interjected humorously, "All female assassins with ample derrières might pose a challenge."

Bruce retorted matter-of-factly, "It's not just about the derrières."

Martin was inquisitive, "Has Judy piqued your interest in another aspect?"

Bruce chose not to divulge further details and instead focused on his meal.

Martin was well aware that Bruce's first encounter with Judy would likely be followed by many more.

Chad approached with a plate of food, took a seat beside Mene, and complimented, "You've made significant improvements compared to the last film. Filming European dramas seems to be excellent training for your acting skills."

Mene responded, "Working with Huppert has been instrumental in my growth. I've portrayed various roles like a son, a younger brother, a wealthy man, a beggar, and a police officer alongside her. The more I diversify, the more I improve."

Martin chimed in with praise, "The French sure know their craft."

Chad continued, "There's another matter I'd like to discuss beforehand. Yesterday, someone suggested that Winston, second only to Jonathan in popularity in the first movie, could become a prominent character in the 'John Wick' series. We could explore the possibility of a spin-off film or TV series centered around Winston."

Martin affirmed, "Your idea holds merit. It could maximize the commercial potential of this series."

Chad smiled, admitting, "I was influenced by others as well."

Martin elaborated, "First, let's complete the trilogy of this series, establishing its foundation. Afterward, we can consider derivative projects based on this groundwork."

Mene added, "I'd love to portray Morgan Ford. Liman just doesn't have the Denzel Washington charisma."

With only the second installment of the trilogy having been filmed, Chad didn't feel rushed to delve into spin-offs. However, with each addition to the series, he, as the planner and director, would see his earnings grow.

He agreed, saying, "Let's focus on creating an outstanding trilogy first."

Martin added insightfully, "Have you noticed? Online video platforms are expanding their content offerings, from HULU to Netflix. They are eager to attract and retain subscribers, but to do so, they require compelling content. Since they lack an established library, they resort to purchasing content at a premium."

Chad nodded in agreement, "I've heard rumors about Netflix's ambitions to enter the production industry, and they're actively pursuing David Fincher."

Martin chuckled, "I've also been approached by Netflix."
