Chương 118: Clash

"Fine, I'll accept it, but before that," Floyd nodded, then reached into his backpack.

He retrieved a bag and handed it to Ekans and Teddiursa. "Although you lost the battle, I keep my promise. Although it's not as much as before, but remember, you have lost. This is yours, take it."

The eyes of Ekans and Teddiursa lit up with joy as they accepted their reward. Many wild Pokémon, witnessing this, felt a pang of envy and fixed their gazes on Floyd. Some contemplated challenging Floyd themselves, but with Arbok and Ursaring present, they hesitated to step forward this time.

Floyd then returned to his previous position and focused on Fraxure. "Fraxure, is it okay for you?" he inquired.

Without any hesitation or question, trusting that Floyd had a plan, Fraxure stepped forward. Even if there was a significant chance of defeat, it did not matter. If he lost, he would simply train to become stronger.

Floyd took solace in having Pokémon like Fraxure and Dratini, battle and training enthusiasts who spared him any trouble with their rigorous preparation. "Fraxure, use Dragon Dance first," Floyd whispered. Fraxure nodded and began to spin.

Arbok and Ursaring watched in confusion and alertness, trying to discern Floyd's intentions. They recalled the previous night's scene where Gyarados had spun, but they were unaware of the actual effects of Dragon Dance, which could enhance a Pokémon's Attack and Speed, since they had only seen Gyarados lose after using the move against Fraxure and Blastoise.

"Charbokkk~," Arbok, driven by instinct, sensed potential danger and hissed at Floyd to start the battle immediately. Ursaring also braced himself, focusing intently on Floyd and especially on Fraxure, eager to engage in combat.

Floyd responded with a smile and a nod, "Okay, let's fight."

With the benefit of one stack of Dragon Dance, he deemed it sufficient to face both Arbok and Ursaring. Despite the challenge posed by two opponents, Floyd was prepared to accept the outcome, whether victory or defeat.

He refrained from allowing Fraxure a second stack of Dragon Dance; it would be unfair to the opponent, and it wouldn't aid Fraxure's growth if he always overpowered his foes with such an advantage.

Truthfully, Floyd considered even one use of Dragon Dance to be an unfair edge, but since Arbok slyly proposed a two-on-one battle, he shamelessly let Fraxure use it once, exploiting the two Pokémon's ignorance.

But he only used it once because If he were to use Dragon Dance again, it would be unfair to the opponent side; he reasoned out that if he used another Dragon Dance, it should be in the battle and in a scenario where his opponent could interrupt, which would be more fair.

After a moment, Fraxure finished spinning and faced Arbok and Ursaring with determination. These were the Pokémon he had previously defeated, but this time, the challenge was greater, as he would face both at once, even with the advantage of Dragon Dance.

"I'll toss a coin," announced Floyd. He threw a coin into the air and after a brief moment, with a "Pong," it landed on the ground, signaling the start of the battle. "Charbokkk~" Arbok hissed. "Roar~" Ursaring bellowed. They wasted no time and charged towards Fraxure.

Ursaring launched a Hammer Arm attack while Arbok struck with Poison Fang.

Arbok was familiar with the effects of Poison Fang, a move she frequently used on her prey. After evolving and learning Crunch, she favored it for its power, usually followed by Poison Fang.

However, after observing Dratini's and Ekans' earlier battle, she recognized that power alone was not sufficient; strategy was also necessary. Poison Fang offered both formidable strength and the added effect of poison, which made it a superior choice.

"Protect," Floyd commanded with intense focus. He could not afford a defeat in this battle. For him, it was not only about Fraxure's improvement but also about demonstrating to the other wild Pokémon his sincere and pure intention to engage in battle without malice and without intending any harm. And It would be significantly advantageous for him to win this game and secure the points.

Fraxure employed the Protect move, positioning both hands defensively. He felt the intense force of the combined assault from Arbok and Ursaring pressing down on him, causing his body to start sinking into the ground.

However, leveraging the momentum of his own body, Fraxure pivoted and rotated his arms, successfully managing to deflect the offensive and sending both attackers reeling back several meters, much to their astonishment.

Fraxure had astonishingly managed to deflect both attacks simultaneously—such a feat seemed impossible.

Arbok and Ursaring, taken aback, paused in disbelief.

Seizing the moment, Floyd commanded, "Fraxure, use Dig!"

At Floyd's shout, Ursaring and Arbok snapped to attention, but it was too late. Fraxure had already burrowed into the ground and disappeared from sight.

"Charbokk~," Arbok hissed, warning Ursaring of the impending danger. She vividly remembered the near-fatal encounter with this very move. Even now, the memory of its impact lingered uncomfortably.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Ursaring nodded, and they positioned themselves back to back, ready to strike as soon as Fraxure reemerged.

Moments later, Fraxure burst forth from the ground.

"ROAR!" Unable to evade, Ursaring resorted to his Hammer Arm for the second time.

Similarly, Arbok hissed, "Charbokk~," as she attempted a Poison Fang attack in desperation, hoping to make contact.

However, Fraxure's attack connected first. Given their proximity, both opponents were hit, with Arbok suffering more due to the Ground-type move's suppression of her Poison type.

In the ensuing chaos, Arbok and Ursaring cried out in agony, with Arbok particularly distressed. Her attack deviated off course, allowing Fraxure to avoid her, but he could not avoid Ursaring's Hammer Arm.

Bang!

Fraxure felt a surge of pain as Ursaring's blow slammed him to the ground.

Meanwhile, Arbok, still writhing in pain, inadvertently touched Fraxure with her tail. Sensing his presence, she instinctively coiled her tail around him.

"Fraxure, break free! Use Dragon Claw, then Protect," Floyd instructed urgently, especially seeing Ursaring gearing up for another move.

A verdant energy enveloped Fraxure's claws, and as Ursaring rushed toward him, Fraxure slashed at Arbok's tail, seeking to escape her bind.

Screech!

Screech!

Arbok screamed, feeling as though her tail might be torn off, so she quickly released Fraxure. The buff from Fraxure's Dragon Dance was no trivial matter.

Ursaring, now fueled by rage, launched a Payback attack with his right arm. But Fraxure, with exact timing, activated Protect.

Arbok also lunged with a Poison Fang attack.

Fraxure, winding up his whole body with full momentum, spun, his tail striking towards Ursaring first and then sweeping towards Arbok.

Bang!

Ursaring howled as he staggered back from Fraxure's powerful swipe, feeling the sting of pain.

Arbok and Fraxure collided; while Fraxure couldn't avoid the Poison Fang, Arbok bore the brunt of the damage. She had endured the brunt of Fraxure's Dig, Dragon Claw, and now Breaking Swipe, all amplified by Dragon Dance.

Overwhelmed, Arbok collapsed, feeling dizzy and weak, as if her body was no longer her own. Struggling to rise but failing, all she could do was lock her gaze onto Fraxure, trying to intimidate him.

Caught momentarily off guard, Fraxure then heard Floyd's urgent call, "Be careful! Don't look at her, use Dragon Claw!"

Without hesitation, Fraxure turned away as he activated his Dragon Claw, predicting it should be Ursaring the one who would approach—and he was right.

Ursaring had already launched a Hammer Arm attack.

Bang!
