Chương 10: Abandoned |

Upon her return to the palace, Kunti sought an audience with her father, the king of Kuntibhoj , current day Uttarakhand. With a determined yet somber expression, she expressed her desire to live in the forest for a while, to experience the life of a sage. Her father was taken aback by her unusual request, but the depth of Kunti's earnestness moved him. He granted her wish, instructing her to take her trusted maids, including her dear friend Priyamvada, with her.

Kunti ventured into the forest, finding solace among the trees and the embrace of nature. As the tranquil surroundings enveloped her, she reflected on the choices she had made and the path her curiosity had led her down. Gently placing her hand on her belly, she began to speak softly, her voice tinged with regret. She apologized to her unborn child, expressing her inability to face the challenges and judgment of society. Tears welled up in her eyes as she whispered her intent to abandon the child once born, a decision born out of fear and desperation.

In Hastinapur

Meanwhile, in the bustling kingdom of Hastinapur, laughter and camaraderie echoed through the halls.

Dritharastra and Pandu, the two brothers, shared a deep bond that transcended their differences. Their conversations were filled with warmth, and their laughter echoed the harmony of their shared journey.

Dritharastra, with a warm smile, said, "Pandu, I must admit, your aim with the bow has improved greatly since our last archery session!"

Pandu, grinning mischievously and listening to his jyesth, replied, "Ah, dear brother, it's all in the wrist! You might want to take a few lessons from me."

Dritharastra started chuckling and replied, "Oh, is that a challenge? Well, I'll have you know that I can still outwit you in a game of strategy."

Pandu, playfully responding, said, "We'll see about that. But I must say, it warms my heart to see us all together like this."

Vidur, their half-brother, joined in their merriment, solidifying the unbreakable connection between them.

Vidur, joining in, added, "Indeed, the bond between brothers is a treasure beyond measure. Though I may not share the same blood, the camaraderie here is something truly special."

Dritharastra, with a fond expression on his face, said, "Vidur, you've always been an integral part of our lives, and your wisdom adds a unique flavor to our conversations."

Pandu, nodding in agreement with his jyesth, added, "Absolutely, Vidur. Your insights bring a balance to our discussions that we wouldn't have otherwise."

Vidur, grateful for the sentiment, said, "Thank you, both. It's an honor to stand by your sides and share in your laughter and camaraderie."

Dritharastra continued, "Speaking of camaraderie, do you remember the time when we got caught sneaking sweets from the kitchen? Our Tatshree (Bhishma) scolded us for hours!"

Pandu, laughing heartily, recalled, "Ah, yes! And Vidur here was the mastermind who led us to that forbidden treasure trove."

Vidur, smirking playfully, added, "Well, someone had to take the lead. Besides, what are brothers for if not a little mischief?"

Dritharastra, in a mock stern tone, chimed in, "Mischief indeed! But those are the memories that bind us, and I wouldn't trade them for anything."

Pandu, reflecting on their bond, agreed, "Agreed. Our bond is a legacy that we will carry forward, passing on the tales of our laughter and adventures to the generations that follow."

Vidur, raising his cup with a glint in his eye, proposed a toast, "To the unbreakable bond of brothers, may it forever shine brightly in the tapestry of our lives."

All three, in unison, raised their cups and toasted, "To the bond of brothers!"

They clinked their cups together, their laughter resonating through the halls, a harmonious echo of the deep connection that defines their relationship.

Meanwhile At the bank of Bhagirathi

Bhishma, the stalwart guardian of the kingdom, observed the brothers with a mixture of affection and concern. He could not help but contemplate the uncertain future that lay ahead for Hastinapur. His worries weighed heavily on his heart, and in search of guidance, he stood by the river bank and called upon his mother, the goddess Ganga.

Devi Ganga emerged from the waters, her ethereal presence radiating maternal love. Bhishma, his heart heavy with concerns for the future of Hastinapur and the Kuruvansh, could not contain his worries any longer. He approached the divine goddess, his eyes reflecting a mix of reverence and uncertainty.

"Bhishma," Ganga's voice was as soothing as a gentle stream, "your worries weigh heavily upon you. Speak your mind, and I shall offer you what guidance I can."

With a respectful bow, Bhishma expressed his inner turmoil. "Mata, the path ahead for Hastinapur appears shrouded in uncertainty. The Kuruvansh stands at a crossroads, and I find myself questioning the choices that lie before us."

Even after the disappointment on Devrath on matters of Kashi sister's , she came to him because even after all of it she is still his mother .

Ganga's reassuring smile seemed to hold the wisdom of ages. "Bhishma, the flow of time is an intricate dance, and the future is never set in stone. Know that change is a constant, and it courses through the veins of the universe."

Her words intrigued him further, and Bhishma dared to ask, "Is there hope for a brighter future, a destiny that will guide us towards harmony and prosperity?"

Ganga's gaze held a depth that seemed to span both the mortal world, known as Earth, and the divine realm, often referred to as the realm of gods. "Indeed, Bhishma, a significant change is on the horizon. A child, yet to draw breath, will be woven into the threads of fate. This child will be a beacon of transformation, not only shaping his own destiny, but also influencing the destinies of those who cross his path and the lives intricately connected to his, in both the mortal world and the divine realm but it also depends upon challenges along with decision of people around the child which is something even I don't know."

Bhishma's curiosity intensified, and he inquired, "But who is this child? What pivotal role shall they undertake in shaping the destiny that lies ahead?"

Ganga's response carried the weight of cryptic prophecy. "Oh, Bhishma, the intricacies of destiny are like a river's current, both fluid and elusive. The child's identity is veiled, and their path is intricately entwined with the dance of time. Even I, a goddess, am but a weaver in the grand design."

Bhishma's gaze turned contemplative, his understanding deepening. "So, even in my quest for clarity, I am reminded of the enigmatic workings of destiny."

Ganga's laughter was like a gentle cascade of water. "Indeed, Bhishma. Just as a river follows its course, so must we navigate the currents of fate with humility and resolve. Embrace the mystery, for in its depths lie the secrets that will shape the chapters yet unwritten."

As his mother's words settled upon the air, Bhishma felt a sense of both wonder and acceptance, his heart open to the currents that would guide the future of Hastinapur.

Gandhar

In the kingdom of Gandhar, Gandhari's laughter intertwined with the wind as she conversed with her brother, Sakuni. They walked through the opulent gardens, their voices carrying a sense of familiarity and closeness.

Gandhari, her eyes alight with mirth, remarked, "Sakuni, do you remember when we tried to outdo each other in horseback riding? Oh, how we raced across the fields, determined to prove our skills!"

Sakuni chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Ah, dear sister, you were always the one with the adventurous spirit. But let us not forget that I managed to outshine you in archery that same week!"

Gandhari playfully rolled her eyes. "Oh, please! I let you win to keep your ego intact, Sakuni. You needed it more than I did."

Sakuni feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart dramatically. "Ah, the truth comes out at last! But in all seriousness, those were cherished moments, Gandhari." The bond between siblings is truly one of a kind.

As they strolled amidst the blossoming flowers, Gandhari's expression turned thoughtful. "Sakuni, do you ever wonder about the future? What lies ahead for us and for our beloved Gandhar?"

Sakuni's gaze held a calculating edge. "Gandhari, the future is like a game of dice, unpredictable and full of twists. Our actions and choices will determine the path we tread."

Gandhari's gaze turned thoughtful. "I know, Sakuni. Change is inevitable, and we must be prepared for whatever may come our way."

Sakuni nodded in agreement. "True, sister. And who knows what twists of fate await us? Perhaps an undiscovered destiny will be set into motion, shaping the path of Gandhar."

Gandhari's eyes gleamed with curiosity. "What do you mean, Sakuni?"

Sakuni's smile held a touch of mystery. "Oh, Gandhari, I simply refer to the unpredictable nature of life. Sometimes, the winds of change carry whispers of opportunity and transformation."

Gandhari's laughter danced on the breeze. "Ah, Sakuni, always the philosopher! But I sense that you have more on your mind. Do share your thoughts, dear brother."

Sakuni's gaze met hers, his expression earnest. "Gandhari, I believe that even our seemingly small choices can set in motion ripples of change that reverberate through time. Our actions may shape destinies beyond our own."

Their laughter and conversation intertwined like the threads of a tapestry, binding their hearts and souls in a bond that transcended the boundaries of time and space, a testament to the unbreakable connection between siblings. As the wind carried their words into the horizon, it whispered of a future where Gandhari and Sakuni's choices would indeed weave the fabric of destiny for Gandhar and its people.

As night fell, Gandhari's dreams were tormented by an unsettling darkness that she instinctively feared. Yet, little did she know, this very darkness would become her ally in the future, a companion she would learn to embrace and wield with unwavering courage.
