Chương 62: Kobold Town
Helena and her men weren't afraid of these kobolds. They were just trying to avoid fighting unnecessary battles such as this one.
They weren't contesting any important resource so Helena would've liked to avoid this confrontation.
Unfortunately, the kobolds thought that they were easy prey since there were only seven hundred of them.
"Come! Do you want some of these?! I'll let you eat my slashes if you guys are so hungry!"
Helena slashed and incinerated kobold after kobold using her new sword Salamandr.
Not wanting to be outdone by their general, the battalion commanders also joined in. They cut down the kobolds one after another although their pace was a bit slower than Helena's.
Seeing how mighty their general and commanders were, the elites were ablaze with fighting spirit.
"Try parrying this you little pup!"
"Where are you looking? I'm over here!"
"Dodge this you bastaaaaards!"
Blood and spittle were flying everywhere as Helena's men were decisively winning the battle. The leader of the kobolds was slowly getting intimidated by how strong the opponents were.
How could these humans be so strong? They weren't that different in terms of size and they were vastly outnumbered.
How are they winning?!
The kobold leader's confidence was slowly decreasing. It seems that it's impossible to win the battle with only numbers.
They had to retreat for now!
"HAWRRR HAWRRRRGHH!!"
The kobold leader barked orders again and upon hearing their leader's orders, the kobolds looked as if they'd been granted a second life as they frantically retreated while barking like a bunch of defeated dogs.
"Ha! Why are you running?! You little mutts dare to attack but you don't have the guts to see it through to the end?!"
Helena made sure to shout some last-minute insults before ordering her men to stop pursuing the kobolds.
"Halt! No need to pursue these little mutts. Set up camp in the safe zone that we marked an hour ago. Eden! Follow me, we'll tail these mutts."
Helena and Eden split up with the rest of the men to follow the kobolds to their settlement.
If there was one thing they learned during all of their expeditions inside the Forest of Echoes, it's that you should always seek out the entire settlement first to wipe out the threats from the roots.
The other battalion commanders led the rest of the men to set up camp for the night while Helena and Eden continued tailing the kobolds.
An hour later, they finally reached the kobold settlement.
The two of them were shocked upon seeing the sheer size of the settlement.
It's as big as a town! There were a variety of small and large huts and campfires were lit everywhere.
There should be at least five thousand kobolds residing in a settlement as huge as this.
It didn't take long for the two of them to gather their wits. They repositioned into a higher position where they had a better view of the entire town.
They quickly spotted the kobold leader and followed him with their eyes.
A couple of minutes later, they were surprised to see the kobold leader shivering in fear while kneeling in front of a large tent.
It didn't take long and a huge kobold with toned muscles appeared from inside the tent. It was a bit taller than a human and it was holding a giant double-headed axe as a weapon.
The huge kobold gave a slap to the kneeling kobold leader and it seems to be reprimanding it for losing against Helena and her men.
"Pfft! You were acting so high and mighty earlier but it turns out that you were only a lackey. What a stupid mutt"
Helena muttered an insult after witnessing the embarrassing moment of the kobold leader.
After a few more minutes, the kobold leader was dismissed by the kobold chief.
Seeing that there was nothing more to watch, Helena dragged Eden to scout around the entire kobold town.
Their impression was that the kobold town was a bit too primitive. All they have are the basic necessities such as shelter, food, and ragged clothing.
Helena quickly lost interest.
She was about to drag Eden and go back to their camp but they ran into a white flower field with a few kobolds patrolling the area.
It seems that the kobolds are cultivating these flowers with great care and importance.
Helena noted the location of the field and went back to the camp with Eden.
Judging from what she saw, it seems that the flower field might give them huge gains.
She quickly compared their battle power to the kobolds and after a few minutes of careful consideration, she decided that they could wipe out the whole kobold settlement with their current strength.
The only threat seems to be the kobold chief along with ten of his close aides that they saw earlier.
It should be no problem for the battalion commanders to defeat the ten aides so the result of their raid should revolve entirely on whether she could defeat the kobold chief.
After a brief analysis of how her battle with the kobold chief would go, she smirked confidently.
There's zero percent chance that she would lose to that overgrown doggy!
