Chương 198: Ch. 198: Cooler's True Power
"I suppose this won't be as easy as defeating the other one was? Your transformation actually seems to enhance your energy." Cooler noted. Tien didn't answer, which was an answer in and of itself.
"In that case, I apologize. I can tell that you worked very hard for the power you have. I can respect that, but it's not going to be of use against me. You are simply... inferior. LET ME SHOW YOU JUST HOW INFERIOR YOU ARE!" And with that, Cooler transformed.
With a burst of light, the shape of his head changed, spikes erupting from it as the bone structure around his face turned into a mask of sorts. At the same time, his body got bulkier and he got slightly taller. This was Cooler's unique form. But Tien didn't care about the aesthetics. He was trembling from the sheer amount of power that this new form allotted the Frost Demon. It'd multiplied his strength by four.
Before, Tien had been mostly on equal footing with the Frost Demon in terms of strength, but now, he knew in a moment that even Pandora wasn't going to be able to beat that thing. But with it, he just might be able to survive long enough for help to arrive.
"Die." Cooler said evenly, raising his finger. Tien had heard the stories from the others about Frieza's fighting style, so he immediately took action, crossing his arms and strengthening his body with his ki as best he could, just as the death beam slammed into him, forcing him to skid back a few feet, a new bleeding hole in his forearm the size of a quarter. It wasn't too deep, though. It'd just barely made it through his defenses, so Cooler clearly hadn't put too much effort into it.
That didn't mean that he was looking down on Tien, though. Had Tien not had the control and reflexes that he did, that beam would have been almost exactly enough to go straight through him, almost instantly killing him. In an instant, Tien made his decision to act. Without a moment's hesitation, he seemed to vanish from the spot he was at, leaving a dozen afterimages behind, all of which Cooler shattered with a flick of his wrist.
"Good grief. If I go after the girl, he'll harass me the entire time, huh? Looks like I have little choice but to pursue." Cooler remarked, shaking his head. An instant later, he vanished from his spot, a line of trees seemingly uprooting themselves in the general direction that Tien had gone.
"Did you think that I would allow you to get in my way!?" Tien's blood froze for a moment as he heard the voice behind him chide. But he didn't hesitate.
"No, I didn't!" With a shout, the space behind Tien exploded. Expecting Cooler to follow him, Tien had left an energy mine behind him, basically being dragged along by a string of energy. He'd figured that Cooler would be too fast to actually hit with it unless he was preparing to attack Tien. Luckily, it'd worked. Cooler had taken the blast directly to the face, and he was now off guard. With a shout, Tien took advantage of Cooler's confusion.
"ENERGY ZONE!"
Suddenly, Cooler was almost completely blind. He could barely see his hand six inches in front of his face. "Hmm. How interesting. You're trying to obscure my vision? But it won't work! I can still sense you!"
Unlike the rest of his family, Cooler was an accomplished martial artist. That was how he had gained the overwhelming strength that he currently had. Sensing energy was just as easy as using his eyes for Cooler, but right now, something felt off about his energy sense. He could sense his own energy as easy as ever, but everything else seemed to be covered by a thick fog. But the fog itself wasn't the problem. Cooler's perceptions weren't so weak to be stopped by some fog, even if his enemy was trying to hide his energy inside of it. But extending his senses, Cooler stopped for a moment.
There wasn't just one person inside the fog with him. There were eight others, all attempting to mask their power. Four raced away in different directions while four stayed behind, flaring their energies to confuse him. But they were all... "TOO WEAK!"
Flaring his energy, Cooler destroyed everything within ten feet of him. Surprisingly, the three-eyed man's energy inside of the zone resisted his efforts for a moment, but it was no match for his full force, and with it, the four energy signatures inside also faded, destroyed in their entirety.
"Nothing... Stands... against... my power!" Cooler panted, anger surging out of his body, pushing his power to its limits. With that, the four insects remaining had lost. Tossing an energy cutter in two directions, Cooler could feel two of them vanish as he charged for a third, using his superior speed to put his fist firmly through its chest. The body vanished around Cooler's fist. "Fake bodies, huh? Impressive technique... reminds me of those damned Yardratians..." Cooler muttered, attempting to zero in on the final Tien with his ki sense, only to find that the three-eyed man was masking his presence too well for Cooler to spot. "Then I suppose I'll have to do this the hard way." Cooler muttered, flying into the sky.
"COME OUT!" He shouted, "OR I'LL DESTROY THIS ENTIRE FOREST!" Raising a hand, Cooler prepared a wave of energy with just enough power to destroy the trees without killing Tien. Or maybe it would kill Tien, with how weakened he was... it didn't really matter to Cooler, so long as Tien didn't bother him later.
"Tch." Tien clicked his tongue, feeling Cooler's power well up. If Cooler were to release that wave, Tien had no idea how far the destruction would extend. Plants, animals, maybe even people would inevitably be caught in the wave and slaughtered indiscriminately. Tien couldn't let that happen, so with a sigh of resignation, he wrapped his body in energy and floated above the treetops to face Cooler in a fight that he knew he had no chances of winning.
