Kamui, a formidable technique housed within Obito's left eye, once gifted to Kakashi, had a curious narrative. Kakashi's left eye, bestowed with Kamui, possessed the ability to distort space, transporting targets to a pocket dimension based on the amount of chakra expended. Even within the refuge of the Kamui space, Obito sensed an ominous chill. "What kind of eye technique is this? Who is this person, and what about his eyes?" Obito exclaimed within himself as he finally took notice of Naruto's peculiar pupils. His attention honed in on Naruto's right eye, sensing a hint of Rinnegan lines beneath the covering of nine goose jade, although uncertainty lingered.
However, there was little time for contemplation, and Obito, wary of the risks, swiftly sought refuge nearby.
Naruto's attack narrowly missed Obito.
"Don't hide," Naruto quipped, expressing his discontent. Had Obito not evaded, the spatial cut would have cleaved him in half, even within the confines of the Kamui space.
As a spatial cut, it left a colossal gap even within the Kamui space, revealing a fraction of the picture. Obito's single eye pupil contracted in response to this revelation.
His suspicion was validated—a move seemingly unstoppable and capable of splitting space. Such an ability and technique were unheard of.
Before Obito could delve further into his thoughts, Naruto inquired, "But how do you counter this trick?"
Unexpectedly, the nails Obito had dodged by hiding in Kamui's space quietly returned under the shroud of the dark night. Stealthily, they entered Obito's Kamui space from their origin point, where his body resided.
Although Naruto's left eye lacked the Rinnegan's appearance, it possessed the Rinnegan's Mind Power, an ocular technique in the left eye. Using the power of the Rinnegan's magnetic field, he constantly augmented his physical prowess with gravitational manipulation, enabling the continuous use of his ocular technique. Through years of practice, he had honed his eye technique proficiency, even orchestrating a battle plan as if it were meticulously calculated.
In a swift move, Obito was compelled to escape from his Kamui space. Though he contemplated using kunai to block, the rapid speed of the nails, coupled with Naruto's adept control through Mind Power, made Obito's decision to evade a strategic one.
Yet, this was precisely what Naruto had anticipated.
Naruto's right eye underwent a sudden transformation, shifting into the poised stance of Mangekyō. Fixing his gaze on Obito, the Mangekyō eyes began to spin with an almost hypnotic intensity.
With a practiced fluidity, Naruto uttered, "Birth and death, goodbye."
This, it seemed, was the true pinnacle of Naruto's abilities. While each eye individually possessed formidable powers—a spatial-slashing ability in the left eye and a spirit-cutting slash in the right—the fusion of both Mangekyō eyes into their most potent form, "Life and death," unleashed a devastating force.
In an instant, Obito experienced a surreal trance. His soul appeared to detach from his body, guided by Naruto into a mysterious space. It wasn't the familiar Kamui space; in fact, even Naruto was unsure of the destination connected by "life and death." This technique could separate the target's soul and body into different spaces—an apt interpretation of its name.
Naruto intentionally left Obito's soul adrift. As long as Obito's soul couldn't reunite with his body within three minutes, he faced complete annihilation.
The swift conclusion of the battle belied the meticulous preparation Naruto had undertaken over the years. This moment, seemingly simple and quick, was the culmination of his years-long covert planning.
"Uchiha Obito, it's over," Naruto declared, his expression hidden beneath the triumphantly sneering face covered by a black cloth. "For eight long years, I've awaited this moment."
Obito's disembodied soul, still lingering in the world, questioned, "Who are you?"
Naruto responded with a smile, "You don't recognize me? You don't remember? But I recall it vividly, dear brother Obito. You propelled me skyward with a massive explosion, nearly sending me to the heavens with a detonator."
Obito, astonished, muttered, "Are you that kid? How is that possible?" The revelation of Naruto's identity left Obito grappling with the unexpected turn of events and a blast from the past.
