Chương 36: Rasengan’s Second Stage

After practicing alone in the back mountains until evening, Naruto dismissed all his Shadow Clones and reverted to his normal state, relieving the fatigue of the day. The increased number of Shadow Clones, over two hundred in total, had made his training sessions more physically demanding.

On his way home, he stopped by a shop that sold various goods and purchased over a hundred balloons for his Rasengan training. The cost was affordable, although it did drain his monthly allowance, which was now almost at its end as the month neared December's conclusion. The concept of New Year celebrations didn't quite register with him, being a traveler from a different world who was more accustomed to Lunar New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

As Naruto arrived home, he pushed open the door to his quiet, dimly lit room. He had grown accustomed to this silence, and there was no one to say "I'm back" to. The solitude was his constant companion.

Shaking his head, Naruto changed into his indoor slippers and entered his room. Thankfully, the room was well-heated, keeping the chill at bay. Konoha Village's heating facilities worked effectively, and he didn't need to pay extra for warmth.

After returning home, he took a refreshing shower, donned his pajamas, and headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. He grabbed a box from the corner of the wall, revealing a cup of noodles. He set a pot of water on the stove and began the process of making instant noodles.

Naruto couldn't help but chuckle at the thought that he was following a familiar path from the original book. The reality was that he wanted to save some money and invest it in upgrading his gear when the new year arrived. With limited funds, he had to economize on food.

The winter season made fishing challenging, not due to frozen rivers but rather because the fish seemed to be in a state of hibernation. Naruto wasn't sure if fish could hibernate, but he had previously ventured onto the ice to find them, only to be met with no signs of activity. Perhaps they were all hiding underwater?

He didn't want to waste too much time chasing fish when he had other priorities. However, as his proficiency with pupil techniques improved, he contemplated using Universal Pull to try catching fish in the future.

A bowl of cup noodles was a simple dinner, and Naruto finished it, making sure not to waste any of the soup. He knew that practice couldn't wait, especially now that he had balloons and balls to further his Rasengan training. He'd longed for this opportunity and was determined to master it as quickly as possible.

In his relentless pursuit of power, Naruto had a clear vision of what lay ahead. Among the advanced versions of Rasengan that he planned to master, the Wind Style spiral shuriken was a formidable choice. However, he knew that while it was potent, using it in close combat could inflict significant damage upon the caster due to the principle of equal and opposite reaction.

Naruto contemplated, "Why use my own body when I have Shadow Clones at my disposal? I can throw out the Wind Style spiral shuriken without endangering myself." He wasn't one to take unnecessary risks.

But before embarking on this challenging journey of self-improvement, Naruto had some preparations to make. After a hearty meal and a quick cleanup, he headed to the bathroom. His mission: to fill balloons with water, marking the commencement of the second phase of Rasengan practice.

However, Naruto was meticulous and cautious, keen to keep his efforts hidden from prying eyes. He drew the curtains to block any potential view from outside and even turned off the lights to cast the Shadow Clones' silhouettes onto the curtains, ensuring he remained undetected. With everything in place, it appeared as though he was sound asleep, a clever ruse to hide his true intentions.

But behind the appearance of slumber, Naruto's training had only just begun.

"Mangekyō Sharingan, activate. Shadow Clone Technique."

A series of explosive sounds echoed in the room, and Naruto created twenty Shadow Clones. Due to the room's limited space, he couldn't generate any more without them tumbling over one another. Moreover, he activated the Mangekyō Sharingan not for better vision in the darkness, but because it enabled him to perceive Chakra flow, a crucial element for the next phase of training.

Now, it was time for the Shadow Clones to take action. Each of them held a water-filled balloon in their palm, focusing their Chakra intently on bursting the balloon. As they worked tirelessly, the main body, after stifling a yawn, decided to retire to the bedroom.

The truth was, the main Naruto hadn't intended to participate from the outset. With the Shadow Clones at work, why bother personally? After all, the memories and experiences of the night would return to him the following day. This break allowed him to rest and wouldn't hinder his training.

Naruto had thought everything through meticulously, even accounting for the fact that each of the twenty Shadow Clones could burst the balloon five times, providing him with a hundred valuable experiences.
