Chương 87: Chapter 87: Wano Country

Karoo may have been timid and prone to confusion, but it wasn't stupid.

At first, the duck was quite worried about Vivi. A directionally challenged owner lost was a big problem!

But after all that worrying, what good did that do? Its owner was still lost!

Karoo worried all night, but on the second day, when the duck noticed that the bright spot picked up by the little dog Chouchou had been taken away, it knew that its directionally challenged owner was fine. So what was there to say? Just keep playing!

When Mr 8 called to enquire, the duck responded with a couple of 'quacks', as if it were carrying out a routine task. When Nico Robin called, the duck also gave a couple of 'quacks' to the Den Mushi. Neither of them knew that Vivi had disappeared!

Karoo enjoyed its stay in Trans Town. People here spoke kindly to it and often gave it treats. In the absence of its directionally challenged owner, it could finally play without restraint!

Vivi had no idea that Karoo was once again living the happy life of a retired duck. She was so worried that she couldn't sleep all night.

Images of her duck waiting by the sea flashed before her eyes, then worries about the duck sailing out to find her, only to fall into the water and be eaten by a monster, haunted her dreams.

She even dreamt of Doflamingo, drenched like a drowned chicken, chasing the poor duck with a fork and knife. It was quite frightening!

As frightened as she was, however, there wasn't much she could do.

In the forest, after two days of eating grilled meat with Otama and Komachiyo, Vivi regained all her strength. But she was afraid to fly alone now. She feared she might end up flying straight to Laugh Tale the next time.

If she had a Den Den Mushi, she could ask someone to rescue her. Wano was a closed country, but it wasn't as if it had disappeared from the map. She could ask Old Van or Zephyr for help, they could drive a Marine warship and Wano would probably have to give them a face, and even if Wano didn't, they could take the Marine warship to nearby waters and she could fly there herself.

The problem now was that she didn't have a Den Den Mushi on hand.

"Ta-ta!" Komachiyo, now adopting the behavior of a loyal dog after two days of playing with Otama, took them out for a ride.

Vivi sat on Komachiyo's back, deep in thought, while Otama seemed extremely delighted, urging Komachiyo to run faster.

The little girl's face was all smiles, and her joy infected Vivi. She planned to stay in this place for a few more days and considered her options.

In Wano, people might not use Den Den Mushi, but Kaidou's subordinates certainly did. She had no chance against Kaidou, but dealing with his subordinates should be manageable. Once she had a Den Den Mushi, she could call someone to pick her up. That was one option.

Doflamingo and Kaidou had been doing business secretly. There was a chance that a ship from one of their trades might have quietly arrived in Wano. If that happened, she could infiltrate the ship and leave with it. That was another solution.

There are more ways than obstacles.

All of human wisdom could be summed up in these two words: Wait and hope!

She decided to wait and see. She would not wander around blindly unless it was absolutely necessary!

Komachiyo raced through the wilderness with the two girls on its back. When they reached a fork in the road, it hesitated, looking left and right.

Vivi was puzzled at first, but then she read its thoughts and laughed: "Hahaha- you, my friend, are actually directionally challenged! Have you lost your way? Hilarious!"

Komachiyo lowered its head in embarrassment. I'm sorry, I actually don't know which way to go, I've really caused trouble for everyone!

Otama covered her face to the side. Pretty sister, is it appropriate for you to say that? Do you have the right to mock our Komachiyo?

After Vivi unleashed Nidai Kitetsu and ran about twenty miles in the direction the blade pointed, a small town appeared in her line of sight.

Due to Komachiyo's intimidating appearance, Vivi asked the komainu and Otama to keep a distance while she went into the town to assess the situation.

This town was still quite impoverished, but compared to the previous Amigasa Village, it could be considered relatively prosperous. The villagers' clothes were patched, but reasonably clean. The villagers looked much more animated than the lifeless inhabitants of Amigasa Village.

Near the main street of the town, Vivi spotted a teahouse. A middle-aged woman in a blue-checkered kimono, with an elegant face, looked at Vivi cautiously out of the corner of her eye.

It was obvious that Vivi's clothes and appearance were very different from those of the locals. Her temperament, appearance, and expression were all different; it was easy to see that she was an outsider.

"Guest, would you like to come into the teahouse and have a rest? The weather is really hot." The middle-aged woman showed a very professional smile.

Vivi asked, "Are you the owner?"

"Yes. Um, are you a samurai...?" The middle-aged woman felt that Vivi's gaze was as sharp as a blade. At the same time, from the sight of Nidai Kitetsu around Vivi's waist, she had the impression that Vivi was a samurai. However, Vivi's clothing was very different from that of the locals, causing a moment of hesitation.

With a 'nothing to lose by asking' mentality, Vivi ordered a pot of tea and then struck up a conversation with the teahouse owner: "Yes... I'm sort of a samurai. I drifted into this country because of a storm at sea. I need to contact my subordinates; they must be terribly worried right now. Do you know where I can find a Den Den Mushi?"

"A Den Den Mushi?" The middle-aged woman was somewhat unfamiliar with the term. After thinking seriously for a moment, she explained, "In the Land of Wano, we use Smashi for communication. I'm afraid it won't be possible to contact the outside world with it."

Vivi sighed. She had expected this. Now all she could do was wait.

"Ugh, what a pain in the butt. Can you tell me a bit about your country? You know, I've just arrived here and I'm completely unfamiliar with your customs. Tell me about the specific situation. I can use the meat of the animals in the forest as compensation."

The middle-aged woman covered her mouth with her hand, as if she thought Vivi had said something terrible.

She exclaimed, "These animals cannot be eaten! They are all contaminated!"

Vivi spoke seriously, "I have been observing carefully. The level of pollution is not that high at the moment. Animals are much more sensitive than humans. As long as you don't eat the internal organs, there shouldn't be a problem. It's hard to say in a few years' time. So, can we make a deal?"

The middle-aged woman thought about it seriously and found it reasonable. She looked at Vivi with some excitement, "Yes, of course we can. I was just saying some information that everyone knows, not worth too much compensation."

"It's okay, just say whatever comes to mind."

After a moment's thought, the middle-aged woman dipped her fingers into the tea and drew a topographical map for Vivi.

The land around Wano was surrounded by cliffs and waterfalls. From a geographic point of view, the country was divided into the main island and Onigashima.

Onigashima had been occupied by Kaidou many years ago, while the main island was divided into six regions: Kuri, Udon, Ringo, Hakumai, Kibi, and the capital, Flower Capital.

Amigasa Village, where Otama lived, and Okobore Town, where the middle-aged woman lived, were both in the south-west of the main island, in a place called Kuri.

The middle-aged woman, called Otsuru, spoke in a very organized manner. After explaining the geography, she began to talk about the people.

"The Shogun of Wano is Kurozumi Orochi. He resides in the Flower Capital and has recruited Kyoshiro as his official money changer..."
