"Take me in for a few days."
This was the favor Sandra Smith asked of Amelia Cobb.
It was not to help her escape the control of Antony Brown.
But to take her in.
Amelia looked at Sandra, her eyes filled with a hint of confusion: "Can I ask why?"
Amelia's question was so soft and light, as if asking too heavily would scare off this poor person seeking help.
For Sandra, Amelia could only say she pitied her.
A girl who struggled from the Poverty-stricken Area, after reaching adulthood, her parents died one after another, even her brother and sister-in-law did the same, the family of five eventually left only her wandering alone in this empty world, like a wandering ghost.
She thought that struggling out would bring her whole family out of their plight, but she did not realize that while facing the harsh environment on the Hoess Plateau, in the tall buildings and cities, she also faced the treachery of human emotions.
Heaven might have kindness, but people do not.
