As the name suggests, it is a filming location created in Chicago specifically for shooting historical dramas set in the Tang, Song, and Ming dynasties.
As audiences have become more demanding in recent years in terms of color and authenticity in the settings of historical TV series, many production crews have come here to build their sets. Over just two or three years, the Pavilion Downing Garden has consumed billions of dollars, but the ancient walls and palaces that dominate the landscape are genuinely antique-looking and very grand.
Suzanne Trent had only been here once last year for a filming project and hadn't had a chance to return since working with other crews.
It is true that one needs to take a water route to get there, and the park is indeed surrounded by a lake, built at its center, reminiscent of Mason King's South Mountain Guesthouse design.
