Chương 4: Chapter 4: Does Your Family Have a Throne to Inherit? _1

Suzanne Trent had just returned home. She heard Abigail Trent's words through the door and pushed it open to enter.

"Abigail, only during your crying fits do you show any talent for tearing this family apart. You really think you're capable of anything..."

Before she finished speaking, Suzanne lifted her eyes, and her footsteps suddenly stopped.

The man was propping himself up with one hand on the bedside, half-sitting up, his hair disheveled from lying unconscious for three days.

Having seen him in a coma for the past few days, she knew he was good-looking. However, she didn't expect that he would be this... stunning after waking up.

Suzanne had seen many good-looking men, but for a moment, she still hesitated, then locked eyes with him. A few seconds later, she regained her composure and approached the bedside.

"So you're awake, well done for not being dead. Tell me your family's contact information, and I'll have them come to pick you up. Your shirt and suit don't even have a phone or wallet, so I had no choice but to bring you home. Now that you're awake, vacate my bed as soon as possible."

Suzanne rubbed her shoulder: "I had to sleep on the sofa for three days because of you."

She continued to look at the man on the bed: " Do you have any contact information for your family?"

The man glanced at her and uttered two simple words: "No."

Without any explanation, his voice was detached and hoarse due to his severe injuries.

"No? How can that be? You must have some contact information for your parents or relatives, like their phone numbers or your home address."

Mason King remained silent for a few seconds before saying three sharp words: "Can't remember."

He couldn't go back now, the timing wasn't right.

Suzanne's heart skipped a beat as she thought about the cliff where she found him and the shards of rock scattered in the grass. His head seemed to be injured at that time, and his body was badly wounded as well. Surely it wasn't as clichéd as... memory loss?

Even modern-day screenwriters wouldn't dare use such a cheesy amnesia plot device.

Without another thought, Suzanne picked up her phone. "If you really can't remember, I'll have no choice but to take you to the police. I could save you once, but I can't just leave you here with no relatives or acquaintances."

At this moment, Mason noticed that the medicine in the IV bag had run out, so he pulled the needle out with one hand.

Suzanne saw the few drops of blood that emerged on the back of his hand, and instinctively rushed to apply a disinfectant cotton swab. "Did you really hit your head? How could you pull the needle out yourself when you're this injured?"

Mason was suddenly pressed by her and a subtle fragrance filled his nostrils. He looked at the woman who had come closer: "With injuries like these, can I really stand up to police questioning?"

Suzanne's dark eyes flickered, and she released her hand, backing away slightly. "How can you be this composed when you can't remember anything? Are you really not pretending to have memory loss and just trying to take advantage of Lily and me?"

Mason applied the disinfectant cotton to his own hand, and responded lightly: "Even though I can't remember anything about myself, I still have my memories before the accident. I was hit by a car and pushed off a cliff, tumbling down with the vehicle. That proves that I was merely in an accident, and I'm probably not a bad person. You've already kept me for three days, keeping me for a few more shouldn't be a big issue."

"How can there be no issue? I've been sleeping on the sofa for three days already..."

"I can sleep on the sofa."

"That's not the point! You're a stranger, and we don't know your background!"

"I'm not a bad person."

"That's still not acceptable!"

"Of course it is."

"..."

How can someone who's lost their memory be so calm and composed?

He was too calm and composed, something was definitely off.

Despite lying injured on the bed, he seemed to be high and mighty as if ordering her around...

Did his memory get confused and make him think he was going to inherit a throne at home?

Chương 5: Chapter 5: Abigail Trent! Stop facing the wall! _1

"Mommy, why let Uncle go?" Abigail Trent came over and pulled her finger, whispering, "Didn't you say before, if there's a handsome uncle in the future who's willing to follow us home and let me stick 'Peppa Pig' on him, we can consider him as my dad... um..."

Suddenly, Suzanne Trent covered Abigail's mouth, and she looked at the man on the bed with a pleading expression: "Mmm...Uncle...um..."

Suzanne gritted her teeth and forcibly took Abigail to the adjacent room: "If you dare to speak nonsense again, all your chocolates will be confiscated next month!"

Abigail instantly closed her small mouth but still spoke with a wronged expression, "Mommy, Uncle is severely injured, so pitiful. Don't drive him away..."

"Shut up and face the wall for thirty minutes!" Suzanne finished, closed the door immediately.

Turning back to the master bedroom with the intention to make things clear with the man and insist that he must leave, she stepped in and recoiled quickly, "What are you doing getting out of bed?"

Mason King stood by the bed, glanced at the black loose shorts reaching at least above his knee on his leg and the spots where blood had seeped through the gauze from the wounds he had just strained.

"I originally wanted you to help me out a little longer, but since my request is making you so uncomfortable, it's not necessary. I can leave."

Suzanne listened to his weak voice, knowing how serious his injuries were. Could this man not feel pain, getting out of bed through it all?

Anyway, she had helped him clean his body a few times in the past few days and seen his bare upper body lying on the bed. It's just that he was awake this time; what couldn't she see?

Turning around, Suzanne saw the man taking two difficult steps forward, yet looking as if he might collapse at any moment.

Just as the man's tall figure swayed slightly, she instinctively hurried over to support him. However, the man was nearly 190 cm tall, and as he fell, he pressed down on her hard. She stumbled back and almost fell herself.

Suzanne gathered her strength to support him, and pushed the man who had almost his entire upper body weight on her towards the bed. When they reached the bed, intending to help him sit down, he collapsed.

"Hey, you..."

Suzanne paused with her hand and saw his eyes closed. Had he fainted again?

She glanced at the blood-soaked gauze on the man and exasperatedly grabbed her hair, yelling at the room next door, "Abigail! Stop facing the wall! Come out and call the doctor from the clinic downstairs!"

Abigail opened the door of the adjacent room, happily responded, and ran to the door, put on her pink shoes, and went downstairs skipping.

Suzanne's face clouded, and there was an uneasy feeling in her heart as if she was being fooled. Looking at the man's wounds and his eyes closed peacefully, she reluctantly helped him lie down and carefully removed the blood-soaked gauze from his body.

"How did so much blood flow again?" She hurriedly stood up, went to the bathroom straight away to get a towel.

After only a few steps, she suddenly stopped and turned her head sharply to look at the man on the bed. Looking at his pale but undeniably handsome face, he seemed even whiter than before.

The blood-soaked suit and shirt he had been wearing could not be bought in stores. Having seen many high-end fabrics abroad, she knew his clothes were not ordinary tailor-made designs. A man with such wealth and looks shouldn't be a danger to her and her daughter, right?

It seemed there was indeed little to worry about.

Now she was no longer who she was five years ago; there was truly nothing for anyone to covet.
