Chương 154: Chapter 154 "Green's Plan For Cassandra"

After finishing her statement, the man silently pointed at Cassandra for a long moment before leaving angrily.

Undisturbed, Cassandra continued to savor the food in the Great Hall.

As dinner was concluding, and Headmaster Dumbledore and the other professors had departed, Cassandra made her way directly to the Hufflepuff long table.

Observing Cassandra approaching him, Wentworth felt a mix of confusion and curiosity. Cassandra reached Wentworth, pointed to Cedric and Green beside him, and straightforwardly expressed, "Wentworth, I want to join you in the Alli--- woo woo---"

Before Cassandra could finish her sentence, Wentworth's expression changed, and he swiftly stood up, covering Cassandra's mouth.

This sudden action intrigued the surrounding students, leading some to inquire curiously, "Wentworth, what did Cassandra just say about joining?"

Wentworth smiled awkwardly and casually replied, "She meant to say she wants to be my friend. Cassandra, didn't we already become friends since long ago?" After saying that, he dragged Cassandra out from the Great Hall while smiling and waving goodbye to the other curious students.

It was only when they reached a quiet corridor that Wentworth released his grip on Cassandra's hand. She spoke hurriedly, "Wentworth, I wasn't talking about being your friend! I want to be your follower, just like Cedric and Green. They joined the Alliance, right? I want to join the Alliance too."

Wentworth shot a sharp look at Cassandra while almost covering her mouth again, remarking, "Keep it down! Do you want the entire school to discover my identity?"

With a faint smile, Cassandra replied, "If you're so concerned about secrecy, why not let me join your Alliance?"

However, Wentworth swiftly dismissed her suggestion by stating, "No! Don't even consider it!"

This firm response left Cassandra puzzled before she questioned, "Why? Am I not good enough? I believe I'm just as capable as Cedric and Green. Is it because I'm a girl?" She said while staring at Wentworth intensely.

Wentworth clarified, pointing at Cassandra, "That's not what I meant. Stop jumping to conclusions and making me look bad at every single word!"

He continued to explain, "Lady Cassandra, think about it! This is Hogwarts, and Dumbledore is the Headmaster here. While he might tolerate me attending school, he won't permit the development of Alliance within Hogwarts."

"If he discovered that I, within his school and under his watch, allowed students to join the Alliance, imagine the consequences for me!" Wentworth continued before he stared off into the distance.

"No... Imagine the others in Alliance who've been living under the radar all this time only for them to be brought to the Aurors because their Lord is an unreliable child that babbled his mouth a bit much.." He explained with a pitiful expression.

After hearing Wentworth's reasoning, Cassandra could only stare at the floor with a sorry expression. "I---I am sorry... I didn't mean to..." She stated.

In response to Cassandra's query about Cedric and Green, Wentworth shook his head, "They joined outside Hogwarts. Dumbledore has less control beyond the school grounds. If we try forming an organization within these walls, it's a different situation."

Witnessing Cassandra's unwavering determination, Wentworth found himself compelled to further clarify, "Cedric and Green are different—they've been with me since I set foot in Hogwarts, and everyone knows we're inseparable. That's why their association with the Alliance won't raise any suspicion," He explained.

"But you, Cassandra, it's a different story! Suddenly following us would undoubtedly attract attention. Remember, you're a Slytherin! A proud one!" Wentworth said with a stern voice.

Hearing Wentworth's rationale, Cassandra experienced a moment of disappointment. She hadn't anticipated facing rejection when offering her loyalty.

Upon reflection, Cassandra conceded that Wentworth had a valid point.

After a brief silence, her gaze regained determination. She lifted her head and locked eyes with Wentworth before declaring, "Wentworth, I won't give up! Even if you don't accept me now, I'll trail in your footsteps unwaveringly!" She said while walking away from Wentworth with an annoyed expression.

Wentworth responded with a puzzled expression, "As you wish!"

Upon their return to Hufflepuff's common room, Cedric and Green awaited Wentworth eagerly.

Seeing him enter, they promptly asked, "What did you and Cassandra talk about?" Cedric posed the question with genuine curiosity.

Wentworth shared the details of his conversation with Cassandra with Cedric and Green. "Nothing much. After what happened to her family and how we saved them, she said that she wanted to join the Alliance along with you guys."

When they learned that Cassandra wanted to join the Alliance, Cedric instinctively intervened, placing his hand in front of Green. Green sighed, shook his head, and retrieved a Galleon from his pocket, placing it in Cedric's hand.

Wentworth questioned, "Were you two betting behind my back?"

Cedric awkwardly smiled, pocketed the Galleon, and explained, "It's Green. He insisted that Cassandra wanted to confess to you. I said it was impossible, so we made a bet."

Upon hearing this, Wentworth appeared even more irritated. He turned to Cedric and asked, "What makes you think it was impossible? I believe my look is above average, on the same level with you. So, why would it be impossible? Is it something else?"

Cedric was left puzzled by Wentworth's reaction. The trio engaged in banter for a while before retiring to their respective dormitories, exhausted after a day's train ride.

However, immediately after parting ways with Cedric and Wentworth, Green made an unexpected decision.

He turned away from the door of his bedroom, exiting the Hufflepuff common room.

With unwavering determination, Green headed straight to the entrance of the Slytherin common room.

A glint of anticipation sparkled in his eyes as he stood before it.

Green approached a Slytherin student and requested, "Could you please call Cassandra Vole for me? Let her know that Green from Hufflepuff is seeking her."

After a short wait, Cassandra emerged from the Slytherin common room.

She inquired Green, who was smiling by the entrance, looking like an idiot, "Senior Green, what brings you here? I believe we have no reason to meet at this hour."

Green greeted Cassandra with a smile and responded, "Cassandra, I overheard your conversation with Wentworth tonight. Are you truly determined to follow in his footsteps?"

Cassandra nodded without hesitation. Observing her conviction, Green offered, "In that case, I have a suggestion for you, something you might consider..."

Hesitant, Cassandra asked, "Is this plan of yours is going to succeed? I kind of have a doubt about it, senior... I don't know..."

Green nodded confidently, "You have to believe in me, Cassandra! Who else spent time longer with Wentworth between the both of us?" He asked.

Cassandra pointed at Green with a doubtful expression, knowing Green was about to talk her to it.

"Yes! That's right! It was me, not you! So, why don't we do us both a favor by skipping a few parts where you doubted me and followed my plans instead, Miss Cassandra?" Green said with a mischievous smile painted on his face.
