"Oh, that's awesome." Shen Tian happily accepted the system's explanation. "So how about this temporary or permanent label right next to the agreement?"

Temporary stay means that they'll leave within a certain period of time and/or they're only renting beds or rooms from you. Permanent residents are those who buy a house within the safe zone and take up permanent residency.

Permanent residents have more benefits compared to temporary residents, but they also have more responsibilities toward the safe zone.

'So that means that's the only amount of information you can give me at this point, huh?', Shen Tian thought to himself upon seeing the short message from the system.

"Well, with Shen Haoran, I can either invite him to be a temporary resident or a permanent resident, right?" Shen Tian asked again, trying to get more information from the system. "If he chooses to become a permanent resident, doesn't that mean that he needs to buy a house from me? But I don't have a house to offer him, though. I can't just offer him my house!"

Thinking of that, Shen Tian became quite anxious! He can't be homeless just to fulfill this quest, right?

[[ Notification: Currently, the host's real estate asset is only a house with two guest rooms. The host can offer the guest room as a permanent place of residency to the potential resident. Once the host's safe zone level increases, he can offer other real estate assets to the potential resident then. ]]

'Oh, so the system will provide other real estate assets if I increase my level?'

"Then, how about Baobao?", Shen Tian fired his next question at the system. "This dog seems to be quite spiritual. Does Baobao need to sign a residency agreement as well?"

[[ Notification: Only humans are required to sign a residency agreement. Pets are considered as the human's property, and thus, they will be registered as a pet in the agreement. Only when they are registered in the agreement can they be brought inside the resident's living quarters. ]]

"Oh, speaking of which, I haven't signed an agreement with Shao Haoran. How was he able to get inside the safe zone?"

[[ Notification: As Shao Haoran is the object of your quest, he is able to bypass the limitations set by the residency agreement. Of course, once Shao Haoran rejects the host's offer of residency, the potential resident will be given 24 hours by default before he will be automatically booted out of the safe zone. The host can adjust the countdown to a shorter period, but not lengthen it. ]]

Shen Tian rubbed his chin in thought upon seeing that message.

While deep in thought, Shen Tian didn't notice that his potential resident had just woken up. Shao Haoran got up from his sleeping position and saw Shen Tian by the side.

He didn't want to disturb Shen Tian, who seemed to be thinking quite deeply, but his stomach made a loud sound. This sound not only pulled Shen Tian out of his thoughts but it also woke up the sleeping dog by his side.

Shao Haoran blushed when he saw what happened.

"I'm sorry, it looks like I'm a bit hungry."

"Don't worry about it.", Shen Tian moved closer to Shao Haoran and touched his forehead to check his fever. "It looks like you're fever has gone down."

"How long did I sleep?"

"Around three hours, I guess." Shen Tian answered. "Do you want to eat?"

"Don't worry about it." Shao Haoran hurriedly said as he saw Shen Tian moving towards his bag as if trying to take something out. "I brought food enough for me and Baobao."

Afraid that Shen Tian won't believe him, Shao Haoran opened his own backpack and took out a packet of dried bread. He opened it and broke a piece to give it to Baobao.

"I don't think what you have will be enough for you and Baobao." Shen Tian moved towards the mountaineering bag and took out a packet of ready to eat food. "Take this. This isn't mine but from the zombie I killed this morning. It's still well-packed and should not be contaminated."

"But this is your loot-"

"Don't reject it.", Shen Tian cut him off. "Otherwise, I won't be able to make a deal with you in a bit."

Shao Haoran no longer rejected and simply accepted the food. No matter what, he needed to have the strength to think straight when he and Shen Tian entered into negotiations later. Although the latter seemed to be a good guy, Shao Haoran can't lower his guard just yet. This is just his survival instinct after being in the apocalypse for many years and dealing with many types of people.
