Chương 63: Harmony Among Nations

After the grand welcome at Elandoria Castle, the group found themselves in a lavishly decorated hall, where a long, ornate table was laden with an array of sumptuous dishes. Faerundale was known for its close connection to nature, and this was evident in the feast spread out before them.

The table was adorned with vibrant fruits, vegetables, and herbs, all sourced from the lush landscapes of the kingdom. A gentle aroma of freshly picked wildflowers and herbs wafted through the air, infusing the room with an earthy fragrance.

Callahan and Lyra, still dressed in their regal attire, found themselves seated at the head of the table, flanked by Queen Elara and King Adric. Eamon and Amara were close by, and various dignitaries and members of the Faerundale court filled the remaining seats.

The atmosphere was one of warmth and camaraderie. Laughter and conversation flowed freely, breaking down barriers and building bridges between the two nations. The meal itself was a celebration of Faerundale's bountiful harvest, and the dishes were a testament to the kingdom's commitment to sustainable and nature-friendly practices.

Plates were piled high with roasted root vegetables, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with fresh herbs, creating a harmonious blend of flavours. Stuffed mushrooms, brimming with wild rice and foraged herbs, were a delightful treat for the palate. The centerpiece was a roasted vegetable tart, adorned with a rainbow of heirloom tomatoes and fragrant basil.

As the feast continued, the conversation danced from one topic to another, reflecting the bonds being formed between Faerundale and Shadowglade. The joyous spirit of the gathering was infectious, and everyone was eager to get to know their new allies better.

"Princess Lyra," Queen Elara began, her tone gracious. "Do you or any family member share the appreciation for the natural world?"

"Your Majesty, with all due respect. While the traditions of Shadowglade do place a strong emphasis on military training, I have found my connection with our homeland's unique landscape. Instead of gardening, I've spent countless hours exploring the untamed beauty of our lands and the secrets they hold," Lyra returned the queen's warm smile.

"Oh? Then, would you find it wonderful if I teach you one or two about gardening?" Queen Elara, ever the kind ruler, suggested to Lyra.

"If-If you don't mind, I would love to," Lyra returned a shy smile this time.

"Callahan, my son, I've heard tales of your incredible journey through the Trials of Aviator. They say it was a contest filled with dramatic moments, especially when the Wingborne declared a tie between you and Alaric, the reigning champion. How did it feel when you emerged as the sole champion after Alaric's unexpected exit?" King Adric, with a warm smile, turned to his son Callahan.

"Father, the Trials of Aviator were indeed a gruelling test of skill and tenacity. The tie with Alaric was a remarkable moment of competition, and I hold great respect for his abilities. When he decided to withdraw from the trials, it was a mix of relief and determination. It pushed me to prove myself and continue the legacy of Faerundale's hope," Callahan, feeling the affectionate tone of his father's question, nodded with a reminiscent smile.

Laughter rippled through the gathering, and the joyous atmosphere continued to strengthen the bonds between the nations. The feast in Faerundale was not just a celebration of an alliance; it was a celebration of the shared values, interests, and friendships that would shape the future of both kingdoms.

"I've heard whispers of Faerundale's unique affinity with magical flora. Can you share some of the kingdom's most extraordinary botanical wonders and the legends surrounding them?" Amara's curiosity about Faerundale's magical traditions led to an intriguing conversation as she asked one of the scholars who stood near the door.

The scholar's eyes lit up as they delved into Faerundale's botanical wonders, recounting tales of enchanted trees that whispered ancient secrets and elusive flowers said to bring dreams of the future. The stories, each steeped in mysticism, painted a vivid picture of Faerundale's connection to the natural world.

Amara's recounting of Faerundale's botanical marvels ignited a shared fascination among the guests. Queen Elara leaned forward, her regal demeanour softened by her insight.

"We have always been captivated by the Moonlit Orchid. This tree will only bloom, during a lunar eclipse, and grants the one who finds it a vision of their true destiny."

"The truth is recorded in the ancient scripture, my queen. Still, countless years passed by without a single lunar eclipse happening again," King Adric nodded, his eyes gleaming with pride for his kingdom's botanical treasures. "And we mustn't forget the Whispering Willows, ancient trees said to possess the wisdom of ages. Their leaves rustle with prophecies, though only a few have the gift to decipher their cryptic messages. Like the High Wizards that produced this Enchanted Alliance prophecy from it back then."

"And then there's the elusive Rainbow Moss, known for its ability to change colours with the mood of the one who touches it. My favourite toy to play with, I must say," Eamon, who had been listening intently, added with a mischievous grin.

"I personally love the tale of the Glittering Fountains. Said to hold the purest essence of magic. Legends claim that those who drink from them gain remarkable insights. Again, the water hasn't flowed for as long as our ancestors can remember," Callahan joined the conversation.

As they continued, the discussion wove threads of magic, history, and nature into the vibrant tapestry of Faerundale's heritage. When the feast came to an end, each dish was empty, a delightful revelation of Faerundale's culinary artistry. With the evening wearing on, and the guests enjoyed the rich flavours of the kingdom, the lively conversations became a harmonious background to the festivities.

Queen Elara and King Adric, their hearts warmed by the unity of the two kingdoms, decided to appoint Eamon as the guide for their son and Lyra during their stay at Elandoria Castle. The couple was content with the arrangement, intending to settle in Callahan's old room.

However, Queen Elara, always the doting mother, had other plans. She gazed at Callahan and Lyra with a touch of playful exasperation.

"My dear, your old room is rather small and hardly grand enough for newlyweds, don't you think?"

"Your Majesty, we are truly touched by your generosity, but we couldn't possibly impose on you like that," Lyra, feeling the sincerity and warmth of the welcome, couldn't help but smile.

"Oh, the pain of rejection! My heart aches for your refusal," as if on cue, Queen Elara playfully placed the back of her hand against her forehead, feigning a dramatic sob.

Callahan and Lyra exchanged a fond look and then chuckled together.

"Well, if you insist, Mother, we would be honoured to accept your hospitality," Callahan said with a gracious bow.

"Yes, Your Majesty, thank you for your kindness," Lyra nodded, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"Splendid! Eamon, please show them to their new chambers. We shall continue this celebration tomorrow. And also, Lyra, just call me mother," Queen Elara, with a delighted smile, rose from her seat and moved closer to them.

Eamon, trying to contain his laughter at the royal exchange, nodded and motioned for Callahan and Lyra to follow him. As they made their way through the magnificent castle, they couldn't help but feel that their journey had brought them not only to a kingdom of nature's wonders but also to a realm of warm hearts and enduring hospitality.

As Eamon guided Callahan and Lyra to their chambers, the air inside Elandoria Castle was filled with an enchanting mix of history and elegance. The walls were adorned with tapestries depicting Faerundale's rich history, while chandeliers cast a soft, warm glow.

However, the serenity of the evening was shattered by the sudden arrival of a guard. His face was pale, and his voice trembled as he requested the presence of Queen Elara and King Adric in the throne room.

Callahan, ever vigilant and inquisitive, overheard the commotion and decided to join them. He excused himself from Eamon, who nodded in understanding.

As they hurried towards the throne room, the tension in the air was palpable. Something was amiss, and the urgency of the situation weighed on them.

When they arrived at the grand entrance to the throne room, they were met with a scene of chaos and confusion. In the centre of the room stood a centaur, his once-majestic form now marred by the blood that smeared his body and hands.

"What has happened? Oh young Centaurion?" Queen Elara's brow furrowed in concern as she approached the centaur.

"I bring dire tidings from the realm of centaurs... my place... is in grave danger," the centaur, breathing heavily, tried to speak but was initially unable to form coherent words. His voice trembled as he finally managed to convey his message. "My father, leader of the centaurs, had been attacked by the creature of the rift."

The words hung in the air, a foreboding omen that sent shivers down their spines. What peril had befallen Faerundale, and how would it affect the delicate balance of their newfound alliance with Shadowglade? The answers, they knew, lay in the tale the wounded centaur was about to share.

Well, since I had nothing better to say why not tell you all how I just got an accident. Please, I'm not trying to get sympathy, I just felt like it was a topic at least I could talk about here. Got run over by a car while driving a motorbike. No serious injury, just a moderate sprain that left me hard to walk. It won't disrupt my writing journey thankfully so yeah. That's it today.
