Chương 68: -68- The beginning of the journey.

The Upper-level familiar.

That could be considered a watershed for familiars.

Lower-level familiars are nothing more than ordinary beasts and creatures. Mid-level familiars may possess certain special abilities, but they are still relatively mediocre, and most magicians can overcome them with ease, depending on the difference in their respective fields.

For example, the magical ants rely on their monstrous strength and numbers, but they can be defeated with large-scale attacks. The giant shells and evil spirits are even more direct—one with only defensive capabilities, the other with effects limited to spiritual entities. Their limitations are evident and do not require further explanation.

However, it's different for Upper-level familiars.

Even outstanding magicians are unable to contend with them. Legendary beings such as magical creatures, powerful ghosts, and even Servants fall under this category.

In other words, once Rozen can summon a superior familiar, even against a Servant, he would possess a certain level of combat power. If he were to encounter a less powerful Servant, he might even have a chance to triumph, which would be quite formidable.

Yet, precisely because it's so formidable, the effort required to reach the point of summoning Upper-level familiars is considerable.

While magic is a miracle, it is also a field of study that requires knowledge, qualities, and talents to manipulate and utilize it. Without extensive research and experimentation, successful usage is impossible.

Taking Rozen as an example, during his three years of activity in Chaldea, he has been diligent and hardworking enough to acquire three types of magic that can summon mid-level familiars. To reach the level of summoning superior familiars, it would take at least a decade of dedicated effort—assuming a conservative estimate.

And that's being modest.

Even with Rozen's talents, it would require such tremendous effort to reach that level. This shows how difficult it is, and it explains why "Heroic Spirit Summoning" remains a mysterious art beyond the reach of ordinary magicians, only achievable through rare means like "Fate" or the "Holy Grail."

Of course, part of the reason for this is that the mystique has declined significantly over time.

If it were in ancient times, with Rozen's talents, he might have already achieved true "Heroic Spirit Summoning," not just summoning superior familiars.

Unfortunately, Rozen is living in a different era, and there's nothing he can do about it.

To spend at least ten years honing his magic is not a viable option. By that time, humanity's foundations would have already turned to ash.

As a result, whether from external or internal means, his combat prowess cannot be enhanced.

So, Rozen decides to explore another path—an "Miracle."

"If it's in a completely different 'World,' then..."

In such a world, Rozen would have enough time and opportunities.

In that world, humanity's foundation could not be affected by the "Burning of the Human Order."

Time's flow would be entirely distinct from this world.

With that in mind, Rozen could venture into another world.

"If I go to another world, then whatever happens to this world's Human Order will have no bearing on me."

Rozen has considered this possibility.

However...

"If only I were the only one capable of crossing the 'Gate,' it would still not be enough."

Even if it's possible to achieve this together by forming an "Absolute Contract," there are many restrictions and complications. Whether Mash and Roman would agree to "escape" is another matter altogether.

So, Rozen can only treat it as a last resort.

"If, in the end, there's no way to repair the Human Order, then I'll just run away with Mash and the big bro."

Before that, Rozen will do what he can and leave the rest to fate.

In other words, that's the plan.

To go to a world with an entirely different time flow from this one, hone his skills there, and solve the severe time shortage problem here.

That's the path Rozen can think of.

When he thought of this method, Rozen couldn't help but glance at the ring on his finger.

"Could it be that the appearance of this ring was destined?"

That's what Rozen couldn't help but think.

However...

"If that's true, I hope the price of using it isn't too great."

Rozen thought helplessly.

As mentioned before, opening the gate to an "Otherworld" and venturing into another world is not something that can be done casually.

Just like Spiritron Transfer, to go to an entirely different era, Chaldea needs to constantly confirm the Master's significance in the modern era; otherwise, there will be problems.

The same principle applies to going to another world.

There's no need to prove the significance of existence since this time, it relies on the power of "Miracle" instead of Spiritron Transfer. The means are different, and so are the issues to be solved.

This time, Rozen will open the gate to another world directly through his body and not undergo Spiritron conversion, so his significance of existence won't disappear naturally.

However, if his body directly travels to a different world with a different time flow, his body will be affected.

This change can manifest in two extremes.

If the time flow is faster than the current world, Rozen's body will become smaller. The greater the time flow difference, the smaller his body will become. For example, if the time ratio between the Otherworld and Chaldea is 10:1, meaning 10 years in the Otherworld and only one year in Chaldea, Rozen might turn into a child. If the ratio is 100:1, meaning 100 years in the Otherworld and only one year in Chaldea, Rozen might even turn into a zygote.

On the other hand, if the time flow is slower, with one year in the Otherworld equating to many years in Chaldea, Rozen's body will start to age or grow larger. The greater the time flow difference, the more severe the aging. The most extreme case could even result in Rozen aging to death, which would be a huge problem.

In short, when going from a world with a slower time flow to one with a faster time flow, Rozen will become smaller, and when going from a world with a faster time flow to one with a slower time flow, Rozen will age.

This is the price to pay for using "Miracle" to venture into different worlds.

Compared to that, there aren't as many restrictions when opening the gate to the soul.

For these reasons, Rozen isn't eager to use it.

But now...

"If I don't use it, how can I have enough chances of success against the challenges of the seven singularities?"

Rozen made up his mind.

"Zing—"

A few seconds later, in Rozen's room, a brilliant light shimmered from a ring, forming particles and creating a pathway.

Rozen took a deep breath and stepped into it.

Once the light passage disappeared entirely, only a notebook computer remained in Rozen's room.

On the computer, an open document displayed the following sentence.

"I'm going out for a bit; I'll be back soon."

On that day, Rozen had his first encounter with the miracle that should not exist in this world.

This marked the beginning of the journey of a young boy who obtained a miracle and treasured it dearly.
