Chương 161: Chapter 161

'He already gave up?' JiHan was surprised to see the Thunder God backing down. Most people would've been desperate for a constellation's support, but JiHan had taken a strong stance from the beginning because he didn't really care.

'Is the red lightning that tempting?'

The red lightning that resulted from fusing the Phoenix's flames and the Heavenly Lightning Technique certainly surpassed most Divine Techniques in power, but shouldn't the Thunder God have been able to reproduce it easily enough?

"Why are you so focused on the red lightning? Can't you make it yourself?" JiHan asked directly.

The system messages remained silent for a few moments until…

[The Thunder God says that red lightning is something that isn't originally meant to be fused.]

[He says that only you, someone with the power of the star, can fuse them.]

[He asks again, promising to grant anything you want within his power if you finish the Red Lightning Technique.]

"Something I want…" JiHan pondered over the Thunder God's offer.

'I can't think of anything.' He would have asked for a stat or points if he didn't have Martial Soul already, but now he just had to customize his techniques to suit him, and stat points didn't help.

He had enough GP thanks to the Bloom Guild, so… 'The only useful thing might be an item… but it seems a pity to accept one item for creating the Red Lightning Technique…'

JiHan decided to take some time to think about what to ask for. "Let's talk about what I want later, but why do you need the technique?"

[The Thunder God says he cannot answer that through the system.]

[A special dungeon map, 'Divine Throne - Thunder God', has opened to player 'Sung JiHan'.]

[The special dungeon is accessible only to 'Sung JiHan' and his party members, once a week.]

[The special dungeon doesn't count toward the daily game limit.]

"Ooh!" JiHan exclaimed in surprise at the sudden opening of a special dungeon. He realized the Thunder God was abnormal when he saw the dungeon wasn't within Battle Net's usual game limit. He'd never seen a constellation capable of creating something like that.

[The Thunder God says he will answer directly if you reach the Divine Throne. In the meantime, he says you should think about what you want.]

"Okay."

The Thunder God, who'd granted him a rare stat and a special dungeon, disappeared, and JiHan organized the rewards he'd gained from the promotion match. Namely, his level had increased by 20, and he'd earned 1.8 million achievement points.

'I might reach Diamond before December at this rate. I need to adjust the pace.'

He needed to be in at least Platinum to participate in the opening match of the Space League in December.

He smiled as he recalled the world-changing opening match in his past life and was determined to turn the tables on their opening opponents in the Space League—the World Tree Alliance.

'I'm not sure what to use achievement points on right now.'

The Achievement Shop could only be upgraded after five donations, and the most useful upgrade, 'Master of One', was already maxed. Expanding his status window and the other options simply weren't useful at the moment.

'I'll have to upgrade everything later anyway, so I might as well increase them to LV4.' He used 1.05 million points to upgrade everything to LV4 and still had over 700k points left over.

'I should open a random box.'

The monthly changing random box was supposed to be an 'item' for October. He hadn't touched it yet, but since there was nowhere else for him to use his points, he decided it wouldn't hurt to open it.

"Haa…"

[Donation Reset Ticket]

Rank: F

- You can donate to the Achievement Shop again.

- You're a donation angel!

JiHan laughed in disbelief. It was truly a trash item worthy of its 'F' ranking, but at least it was somewhat useful to him at the moment.

'I can upgrade the Achievement Shop a month earlier now.' Thanks to the ticket, he was able to throw another 10,000 points into the shop as a donation.

[You've donated 10,000 points to the system!]

[You feel invigorated. You'll accumulate less fatigue for the next month.]

'Just three more to go.' He didn't want it to drag out into the next year. 'I should try to get another ticket.'

JiHan extended his hand to the random box option again.

"Uncle… What's all this?" Sae-ah asked in disbelief as she looked at the items scattered around the living room. There was a long curtain, a statue engraved with fire, and all sorts of weird things that didn't match the decor at all.

"Sae-ah, stay away from random boxes."

"Random boxes?"

"It wasn't just gambling that's addictive…"

The random box cost 30,000 points every time, so it didn't take long for his 700k achievement points to completely vanish.

'I got lucky and received another donation reset ticket…' If it weren't for that, it would've all been for nothing. Most of the things he got from the random boxes were useless, after all.

[Holy Fire Statue]

Rank: C

- A statue carved with Holy Fire.

- The gentle flow of fire makes the house warmer.

"What? This was an item? A heating effect…? Why does this have a 'C' rank?"

"I don't know, let's break it," JiHan said.

"Isn't it pretty?" Sae-ah argued. "I'll use it as a decoration. Regarding the curtain… I'll throw it away."

Some items were somewhat usable, but there was nowhere to put the long curtain.

"You don't need to throw it away. I'll just get rid of it now." JiHan extended his finger before Sae-ah could reach down and pick up the curtain. A moment later, the curtain was torn to shreds and evaporated. There seemed to be some strong emotions behind the curtain's complete destruction.

"What else should I get rid of?" he asked.

"Hmm…" Sae-ah murmured. "Honestly, everything seems useless except for the two statues… Ah, isn't that dagger something we could use?"

"Ah, right."

Sae-ah's eyes sparkled as she picked up a blood-red shining dagger within a crimson sheath.

[Vampire's Fang]

Rank: S

- A dagger created by sharpening a vampire's fang.

- Bleeding effects are greatly amplified when this dagger cuts an opponent.

- Can absorb an opponent's blood and restore your own life force.

"This seems good," she said.

"Well, it's kind of usable."

It wasn't worth 700K achievement points, and it was completely unnecessary for JiHan, who already had Eclipse and the Phoenix Flag.

Sae-ah looked at the dagger and then turned around to look at Akari, who was standing behind her.

"I also don't use a dagger… Akari, do you want it?" she casually asked.

Akari still maintained formal speech in her awkward Korean. "A-are you talking about me?"

"Yes. You need a dagger, don't you?"

Sae-ah handed her the Vampire's Fang.

Akari's eyes widened when she read the description. "S-such a great item…! I can't accept it!"

"You're overreacting," Sae-ah said. "It's normal for a Diamond to have S-rank equipment."

"But still…"

"Just use it." JiHan also urged her.

Akari took the dagger with both hands and repeatedly bowed to Sae-ah. She'd lost control over her own body while working for Shizuru, but she just kept receiving all sorts of things under JiHan and Sae-ah. She was so loyal to Sae-ah at that point that she'd put her life on the line for her.

'It wasn't a bad decision to give up on the stats from the leaf,' JiHan thought. Sae-ah receiving a loyal Diamond Assassin as a bodyguard was well worth it.

"What level are you?" JiHan asked her.

"212."

"Diamonds really don't level up quickly. Although she's been playing without missing once, she only went up by a single level," Sae-ah explained.

"Hmm… You need to reach level 225 to join the national team. I'll ask HaYeon to give you 'Focused Growth'."

"Me, a national representative…?" Akari asked with a trembling voice. "I heard Korea's Archers are strong. Would they need an Assassin like me…?"

Korean Archers specialized in eliminating players through focused sniping, so Akari's doubt was valid.

"The Archer team is strong," JiHan explained. "so it's okay for one to drop out. More importantly, if an Assassin properly joins, they can be used for many tactical purposes."

The international games mostly focused on direct confrontations, but games could change at any time if the maps changed.

"Focus on getting to level 225. I'll handle getting you into the team."

"Understood…!" Akari's eyes sparkled.

* * *

After the 'Top 25' promotion match, the media couldn't praise JiHan enough, but their focus shifted to the upcoming international game in November.

[November 1st, Korea vs. Japan. Will Japan Claim Revenge for Recent Actions Against Them?]

[Things Are Different Now! JiHan Has Emerged as the Core of Korea's Team.]

[Sung JiHan VS Sword King. Whose Hand Will the Goddess of Victory Take?]

[Battle Net Betting Sites Favor the Sword King.]

- It's a pity. If the Korea-Japan took place after JiHan grew more, he'd probably win.

- I can't imagine JiHan losing…

- Really. Even though the team's been holding him back, I've never seen him lose in an individual fight.

- JiHan could've stood a chance if he were in Diamond, but I think the Sword King's stronger for now.

↳ It seems that most people believe the same.

Even Koreans, while supporting JiHan, thought it would be impossible for him to go against the person who was ranked 1st among the Warriors.

Battle Net fans elsewhere, of course, believe it even more strongly.

- No matter how strong JiHan is, he can't beat the Sword King.

- If the big match happened next year, I would have bet on Sung.

- I got a Gift thanks to Mr. Sung, but now it's time for him to lose to Japan's sword.

- Sung JiHan and the Sword King… Why's the East Asian league like this? Why doesn't China have such Warriors?

- If you look closely, both are from Korea. Is it a land of Warriors? Is it because of their mandatory conscription?

- Then we should have Warriors popping up in Israel, too.

- Anyway, the Sword King will win this time. Next time, who knows?

Most people were betting on the Sword King, but the experts were keeping their judgment in check, especially Japanese analysts.

"Hmm… He's really strong." The Japanese coach frowned as he looked over JiHan's achievements in Gold. How could a Gold be so strong? If he compared the data from Sword King's training with what JiHan had shown, the Sword King had a slight edge.

'But I feel that he's keeping something up his sleeve…' If JiHan was hiding something, the battle between the two Warriors could be evenly matched.

'It would've been great if Shizuru had succeeded in enticing him. What a pity.' The Japanese coach smirked. Sung JiHan and Ito Ryuhei… If both were on the Japanese team, their victory in the Champions League would be assured.

"Coach, the Sword King is here." A subordinate interrupted his thoughts.

"Really? I'm on my way down."

"Okay. Shizuru's here too. She says she has something to say to you…"

"To me…?"

"Yes. She says she has a surefire way to subdue JiHan."

The Japanese coach's eyes sparkled. He needed to hear this.

"I'll be there in a moment."
