Chương 22: Battling Blue
Xavier battled until the evening, but he failed to trigger any BOSS event. The only positive outcome was that Nidoran leveled up to lv7, but Mankey remained at lv10. He then returned to the Pokémon Center and had both of his Pokémon treated, before heading back to his room for some restful sleep.
The next day,
He was determined to battle Blue, regardless of the result. He headed straight to the location where Blue was waiting.
After observing Blue for a moment, Xavier decided to approach him. As he got closer, Blue looked up and noticed Xavier standing there. "Hey, you there! You wanna battle?" Blue said with a confident grin on his face.
Xavier knew he couldn't back down from this challenge. He took a deep breath and replied, "Yes, I'm ready to battle!"
Blue sent out his lv9 Pidgey, and in response, Xavier sent out his Nidoran. Blue ordered Pidgey to use Sand Attack on Nidoran, but Nidoran dodged. Xavier then ordered it to use Poison Sting, but Pidgey easily dodged the move.
Pidgey retaliated with Gust, directly hitting Nidoran and causing damage. Nidoran attempted to counter with Peck, but it missed Pidgey. Pidgey used Gust again, but this time Nidoran narrowly dodged the move.
As Pidgey approached Nidoran to use Sand Attack, Xavier saw an opportunity. "Nidoran, use Poison Sting now!" he commanded. This time, the move directly hit Pidgey, causing it to fall down. "Keep using Poison Sting, Nidoran," said Xavier.
Nidoran followed the command, successfully hitting several Poison Sting moves, poisoning Pidgey. Blue ordered Pidgey to fly back and use Gust, and despite being poisoned, Pidgey was successful in hitting Nidoran and causing it to lose the fight.
Xavier knew that Nidoran's chance of winning against Pidgey was minimal, so he had come up with a strategy to poison Pidgey, and Nidoran had successfully achieved it.
Xavier called back Nidoran and sent out Mankey. He ordered Mankey to immediately use Night Slash. Pidgey attempted to dodge but failed, ultimately losing the fight and allowing Mankey to reach lv11.
Blue called back Pidgey and sent out his lv8 Charmander. After a few minutes, Mankey easily won the fight with his repeated Leer and Night Slash combo.
In recognition of his victory, Blue rewarded Xavier with 1000 pokecoins and then left the area.
