(Jason's POV)
I sat up from my bed, unable to sleep.
"Damn." I said as I rubbed my hair
It was the middle of the night, I was in my room in the town still. It's been a couple of days since Erza left and I was still helping out. Felicity had informed me that the trip to Ishgar was smooth and without issues.
Karameel had left back to her city in main-land Gulitina and it was just me and a couple of non-afflicted people tending to the others. The good thing is that they weren't as bad as they were when I first got here or prior to that.
They were still rambling but none of them had violent tendencies. It was a good thing and I was genuinely relieved. Throughout the days, I had been working on the Workshop, taking advantage of the time in there to tirelessly work on the weapons.
There was an armor that I wanted to work for myself. It was pure God-Steel and enchant it using Sage God Slayer magic. Hopefully, it comes out good.
I sighed as I got off the bed and stretched my arms, "Can't sleep..." I said as I walked toward the balcony, "Man..."
There were a lot of things on my mind. I couldn't focus because of them. I was getting dreams again, nightmares. Memories that I tried to not focus on. Ever since Mavis healed my mind, the memories of my life were flooding my mind again.
She may have healed my mind, but I was far from healthy in my mental state. I kept having nightmares about the time I lost my sister, watching her lifeless body lie on the street after getting hit by a car.
I was having nightmares about seeing my mother's lifeless body hang from a rope.....
Nightmares about the other woman....coming into my room....
I clenched my fists, "Shit..." I said as I closed my eyes, "Dammit."
I tried to push those thoughts back, trying my best to not think of them. I had more things to worry about here. I was in a different world with a different type of duty. I can't waste time having worries about all of that.
"Shit...." I said opening my eyes as I felt sweat on my forehead, "What the hell...."
I then noticed something on the streets of the town. The balcony I was at overlooked several buildings and a single street. In the middle of the night, the street was merely illuminated by the moonlight.
I saw that Allan, the old man, was sitting on a chair, holding his cane. He was looking up at the sky without moving.
"What's he doing here?" I said, "Let me go and talk to him."
A couple minutes later, I walked up to Allan. He was sitting on a lawn chair, merely tapping his fingers on the wooden cane. I noticed his hands and knees weren't shaking as much as they used to.
"What're you awake for, Allan?" I asked
Allan looked at me, "Could ask you the same thing, youngster." He said, "Can't sleep? Is it nightmares?"
I raised an eyebrow, "Huh?"
"I have nightmares too." He said as he looked back at the sky, "That's why I can't sleep. The night sky looks so peaceful tonight. These days the sky looks good, it eases my anxiety."
I looked up at the night sky, it was clear, not a single cloud in sight. I could see the massive amounts of stars littered around the massive and bright moon. Allan was right, it looked peaceful and very nice.
"Yea..." I said, "Looks nice."
"Reminds me of the story my old grandfather used to say." He said, "About a Woman who often visits the island. And when she did, the Moon would be as bright and big as it is right now."
I looked at him, "Is that so?" I asked, "Your grandfather knew a lot of stuff. The Ifrit....and now the Moon Goddess."
He chuckled, "I guess he did." He said, "There's also something he knew that you probably should."
"Hm?" I said
He looked at me seriously, "The Day you stumbled here." He said, "The folks here, their ramblings."
Oh, yea I forgot about that. They were saying some really strange things.
"I don't know what your lot from Ishgar know of Dragons." He said, "I reckon you lot have that legend of The Black Dragon of The apocalypse."
Acnologia. I suppose that's true. Ishgar mages didn't know much about Guiltina's 5 Dragon Gods, or 6, but that final one doesn't count that much.
"Something like that." I said, "But he's still around."
"Is he?" He said, "Well...in Guiltina...we have the Dragon Gods.....Dragons so powerful they're worshipped as actual deities."
I looked at him, "Yea." I said, "What of them?"
"Yes, they could be considered Gods...they're that strong." He said, "But the truth is.....they haven't reached divinity yet. True Godhood."
I frowned, "What are you saying?" I asked, "They're not actual gods?"
He gave me a serious look, "The True Dragon Gods." He said seriously, "They're real. And they're no longer on this plane."
"The Blazing Black God and The Heavenly Wheel God."
