"Cough, cough!" A group of ladies sat at a table, one of them on a blind date with a man who couldn't seem to keep his eyes on her. Instead, his gaze wandered toward the corner. She followed his line of sight and though she could only see a side profile, the air of elegance and tranquility about the woman there made her, who considered herself good-looking, feel a pang of self-doubt. She cleared her throat to get the man's attention.
"Sorry, I...,"
"Is she pretty?" the lady asked with a smile.
The man hesitated for a moment, his expression somewhat awkward, but his gaze didn't waver. Finally, he nodded and spoke the truth, "Yes, she is."
"Then, between the both of us, who looks better?"
This question was a minefield.
The man contemplated for a moment, "Both of you are different."
"What's the difference?"
"You are very beautiful, but she has a great temperament."
