Chương 51: “Small talk”
*As I expected" Yamamoto thought excitedly.
In the situation he is in, the World Government wants to exterminate him as soon as possible. The best thing that could have happened to him is to meet this person who wants to overthrow the World Government and is against slavery and the Celestial Dragons.
"Alright, we'll talk better once we escape from the net" said Yamamoto as he approached the ship's railing and noticed in the distance several Marine ships on the horizon.
He could count over 10 ships, which was a huge amount surpassing even a Buster Call, *They want to catch me at all costs* thought Yamamoto with a frown.
However, these ships were not of the caliber of the Buster Call's warships, even the marines on it were of lesser quality.
"Never expect the World Government to be so desperate to exterminate them. First, a buster call aimed at Ohara, and now they're using all the West Blue bases to get them" Dragon said as he stood next to Yamamoto.
"Yes, we touched their nerve by studying the Void Century" said Yamamoto.
"In the newspaper, they branded them as terrorists seeking to control ancestral weapons to destroy the world, I doubt that's the truth" Dragon commented as he waited for Yamamoto to tell the facts.
"That's a lie. Our purpose was never to find the location of the ancient weapons and use them. The real purpose is to uncover the past that the World Government is desperately trying to hide" Yamamoto said.
"My friend says that the past belongs to all men" he added with a faint smile.
"Professor Clover?" Dragon asked, to which Yamamoto nodded.
Dragon was a friend of Clover's, and although he knew Clover's past reputation for causing trouble, he refused to believe the propaganda that Clover was conspiring to destroy the world. That's why he decided to come to Ohara himself to find him.
As for the previous owner of Yamamoto's body, he only knew him as Clover's best friend but had never engaged in a conversation with him. He was surprised to hear that he defeated a Buster Call on his own and protected Ohara.
Remembering Ohara, Dragon said with a slight anger in his tone, "Ohara is destroyed."
"It was to be expected, after branding us as criminals it would be strange if they don't attack the island" said Yamamoto, Although he saw it coming, he was angry since it was his home island. And he had the memories of the previous soul.
"I also heard that the ship of the Ohara villagers who escaped was destroyed, and no one survived" Dragon said, his voice growing hoarser.
Noticing Dragon's increasing anger, Yamamoto thought he couldn't tell him that he let them go to their fate, knowing the destiny that awaited them.
"Those scoundrels. I didn't think they would go after them. I even let two vice admirals live, but showing such mercy doesn't seem to have worked" Yamamoto said in an indignant tone.
"Yes... Those two vice admirals you let go are most likely future admirals. They have very powerful devil fruits why did you let them go?" asked Dragon uncomprehendingly, if it was him he wouldn't hesitate to kill them.
Yamamoto grimaced a little. If he told him it was because they were his favorite characters how would he see it? He even regretted his stupid decision. Since he had only arrived a few minutes ago into the world, he didn't understand the weight of his choices.
"They were brats. I'd have a bad taste in my mouth killing them, though I won't be so merciful if I see them again" Yamamoto replied as he scratched his beard trying to look as natural as possible.
Dragon looked at him strangely and thought it was the whims of an old man.
The ship began to move through the rough sea, its speed was good despite how ostentatious it was. Yamamoto and Dragon began to see more and more ships arriving.
"Tesoro-san what shall we do?" asked Stella worriedly noticing the large number of Marine ships.
"Don't worry. We have the Fire Demon with us" said Tesoro trying to reassure her. Then he started to approach Dragon and Yamamoto.
Unlike his crush, Tesoro had a better idea of Yamamoto's strength and knew that these Marine ships posed no mortal threat to them.
"They seem to be just watching from afar as they follow us" Tesoro commented.
"Yes, their objective is not to fight us. They just want to find our current hideout, then send in the heavy troops" said Yamamoto.
This situation was not good. There were at least 15 ships following them from a long distance. If they headed for Battleship Island it would be the end for that island and their hideout.
On the other hand, destroying that many ships would not be difficult with a 50% strength card, as he can fly and destroy them one by one. But is it worth it?
Spending a 50% strength card just to destroy ships where there are super weak marines that won't give you a single skill or merit point.
While Yamamoto was debating what move he should make next, on one of the Marine ships, there was Komei, the vice admiral who set up this sentry ship network that was giving Yamamoto so much trouble.
"Vice Admiral Komei, we've got trouble!" exclaimed with alertness in his voice, a marine with a den den mushi in his hands.
"I can't now. If we let the Fire Demon escape now our last month's work will be useless" said Komei who had a spyglass in his right eye and kept an eye on the ship Yamamoto was escaping in.
*It was obvious that the Fire Demon would be here. I wouldn't let archaeologists do such a dangerous task* Komei thought with a slight smile.
In the report they had given him, they had only told him that they saw one of Ohara's archaeologists, even so, Komei moved all the sentry ships to the Kingdom of Ilisia. And now he was seeing Yamamoto's figure on a very luxurious ship, so his decision was correct.
"But sir, it's urgent!" the marine spoke again.
"Fine, tell me what's going on. Be quick!" said Komei in annoyance as he removed the spyglass from his eye.
"First of all, Rear Admiral Boo Kong today headed to the Kingdom of Ilisia with his subordinates" said the marine speaking as fast as he could.
Hearing his friend's name, Komei's eyes almost popped out, "What did you say!? Why was Boo Kong there?" asked Komei knowing the danger of being on the same island as Yamamoto.
"I don't know what the rear admiral was doing there. But it was his subordinates who saw and reported the Ohara archaeologist" replied the marine nervously, he knew about Komei and Boo Kong's friendship.
Komei smacked his lips when he got the news that an Ohara archaeologist was in the Kingdom of Ilisia, he didn't check who was the one who warned. Time was precious and he moved the troops as fast as possible, not to let this opportunity slip away.
*I hope Boo Kong is all right* thought Komei without much hope. If he was just a normal Ohara archaeologist, he wouldn't be worried about his friend. However, he saw on the ship Yamamoto and if Boo Kong ran into him he couldn't get out alive.
"There's something else"
"Something else? What is it?" asked Komei, he already had bad news he hoped this wasn't too bad.
"W-well... several hours ago the Celestial Dragon Pluming-sama arrived in the Kingdom of Ilisia. And the ship the Fire Demon is using belongs to him" replied the marine.
"WHAT?" exclaimed Komei drawing the attention of everyone on the ship.
He then looked back at the ship Yamamoto was fleeing on, and noticed that it was very luxurious compared to all the others.
*Of all the places a Celestial Dragon can go, they end up in the same place as the Fire Demon. How much bad luck can one have?* thought Komei.
"Let's hope he only stole his ship... if he did anything to that Celestial Dragon it will be a big problem" Komei said.
The marine nodded in agreement.
"Although there is a Celestial Dragon in the Kingdom, our task is to keep an eye on the Fire Demon and find its hideout. We have to be prepared, in case it decides to attack.
Each sentry ship must be 100 meters away from each of our ships, no matter if they don't see the Fire Demon's ship" Komei explained.
Komei planned to put the sentry ships in a line so they could follow Yamamoto's ship. Although some ships don't get to notice Yamamoto's ship, that doesn't matter. If they get too close together it will be easy for Yamamoto to destroy them. So he came up with this plan.
Still, Komei knows that several ships can be destroyed, but these are sacrifices that must be made. Then another sentry ship will take their place and so on, for this, they have more than 40 ships some of which have not yet arrived.
Komei will find Yamamoto's hideout at all costs. And if Yamamoto decides to go to another place so as not to reveal the island where he currently resides, he will be able to gain time, so that the HQ can send troops to defeat him.
