Everyone was at the table when the king and Jade arrived and the butler was quick to pull out the chairs for both Alvin and Jade at which Jade murmured a thank you. Elisa sat between both her daughters but that did not stop her from throwing daggers at jade who had taken the seat that she had always used ever since she became a part of the Whitlock family.
Alvin did not care about anyone's mood at the table as he took a glass of wine and took a sip from it while looking at Jade who was obviously nervous.
"Levin, I did not see you at the training field." Alvin calmly said as he put the glass back on the table. His statement startled Levin as well as Elisa who was not ready to lose her son on the battlefield. "I don't think that it would be wise for the both of you go to the fight ...We would also need protection here as we don't know what the enemy might be planning." Elisa said. Though she was happy when she received the news that Alvin would be the one to lead the war, she was also scared that the king would drag her son along with him and she did not want that as Levin played a big role in her plans.
"There is no way I would leave you unprotected, you mean so much to me. " When he said those words, Alvin took Jade's hand that rested on the table into his while looking at his aunt and everyone on the table noticed it but no one dared to speak. His words were not meant for the whole family but her, and he did not make his intentions subtle which made almost everyone at the table wary of a woman who showed up in the palace with the king. Though Alvin had so many women in the past, it was just for pleasure and nothing else and once he would get what he wanted, he would not show any other interest but with this young simple looking woman, he had embarrassed his own aunt which made them wonder what was so special about her.
"Levin make sure you show up tomorrow,. I'm sure that this land is as important to you as it is to me...after all you were on the path of becoming a king. The fighting skills you gained as a crown prince would be useless if you are unable to protect avianna." When Elisa was about to intervene for her son, Alvin stopped her. "Auntie don't cross your line." He added as he waved at the servant so that he could serve Jade. Nobody talked at the table as each one of them was occupied with their own thoughts. Jessica who was seated on the right side of her mother while idly playing with a fork was in a good mood as she had received the news that the elf prince would be visiting their kingdom the day that would follow. Elisa who was one of the people who had instigated the war was totally worried for her son who had never gone for any war, and knowing her nephew, she was not sure if Levin would come back alive. "Jade tried to forget about what had happened in the library but the more she tried to forget the more vivid the scene appeared in her mind which made it difficult for her to eat.
Alvin who was staring at her could not help but smile internally. He could tell that Jade was thinking about their little scene and not only that, she was aware of his presence which made it more awkward for her. "Here, have this." Alvin said as he handed jade a glass of water. "Thank you." She said without looking at him in the eyes and took a gulp. As the people at the table continued to eat, Alvin did not take even a single bite as he added another half glass of wine and when the supper was about to end, he spoke to catch everyone's attention.
"Prince Luke will be coming here tomorrow as he will be the one protect the palace with the help of my personal knights. But it looks like someone had tried to turn the elves against Avianna. If I find out who tried to poison their minds, they will have their heads on the spear. He said as he took the last gulp from his glass.

Alvin accompanied Jade to their quarters and fortunately for her, he did not enter which made her relieved. "Have a good night my lovely girl.'' When he said those words, he took her right hand and kissed the back of it which sent shivers down her spine. Though it was a small action, there was a way he looked at her in the eyes as his lips lingered there, and when he let go of her hand, Jade wished him a good night and rushed inside the room leaving him at the corridor. "This man will kill me!" She said to herself as she got into her room.
As promised, Alvin had the book sent over to Jade's room and she did not hesitate to read the content in it. It was a small book that would take her less than an hour for her to finish. "Treasures of nature." She read it out loud as she stared at a drawing of a water body in it. Sitting on the chair that was on the corner of her room, she got absorbed in all that was written in the book until she perused the last page which did not contain many words. "No one has the power to protect and control the four elements until the holy one is brought to us so that she can prevent the oncoming calamities." Those were the last words written.
"I don't think that this has helped me much. It has confused me more." She said with a sigh as she closed the book.
