"I hope you will like your room milady. And if it is not to your taste you can stay here with me." Alvin said and walked walked towards his word robe. Jade who had expected him to open it so that he could put on a shirt was surprised to see another door that led to a secret room. "Come over here jade." Alvin said but jade did not move even an inch from where she sat. She did not trust him even a single bit. "If you are tired, just tell me darling. All I need is to hold your hand, and puuf! We will be where I want to take you." He said playfully to jade who was fully conscious of his presence. "What is that room?" Jade asked without paying any heed to what Alvin had told her. "Come and see it yourself my sweet. Why do I need to tell you when you can have a look. I don't plan to kill you here. I plan to keep you to myself so there is no need for you to give me that face. Come." Alvin said when he saw that she looked like a scared kitten.
"That is very assuring." Thought jade to herself. She was not sure if she would stay with such a man. When it came to looks, he was undeniably handsome but when he opened his mouth to talk, his words were like a thorn. He was not that good at assuring a person which made her wonder how he was raised up. As she took one step at a time walking towards where he stood waiting for her, Alvin also took his time to admire the beauty that was right in front of him. She had those gentle features that one could not see unless you looked keenly her beautiful full lips were slightly parted and her long lashes kept on flattering every time their eyes met. He was captivated by those large black eyes and he was unable to look away.
Jade who could feel Alvin's gaze on her was feeling uncomfortable. Even after their eyes met Alvin did not bother to look away. He wanted her to know that he was looking at her. If only the ground would swallow her up so that she would not have to see him everywhere she went. Jade thought. "You are so beautiful." Alvin said when Jade came to stand a few centimeters away from him. Those were words that jade was not used to hearing and now that they came from the king's mouth, she did not what to say which made her lower her gaze so that she would not have to look at his predatory eyes. Tacking a stand of her unruly hair behind the back of her ear, Jade finally raised her head to look at him. Her eyes which had been wandering elsewhere so that she could not see his bare upper body met his and he took a step to cover the space between them. "Let us go inside." Alvin added after a few seconds which felt like hours for the both of them.
Behind that secret door, there was a room. Though not as large as the king's room, it was larger than the room than the room that they shared with her friend Lydia at Mrs Lawrence' house. The room had a large bed in the middle, which had beautiful dark blue silk covers. The was a small table and a desk at the corner near the window with a few candles lit to illuminate the room and without being told, jade knew that this was the room that the king wanted her to stay.
"Can't I stay in a different room. I don't mind being in the servant's quarters." Jade asked as politely as she could. She did not want to stay this close to her. He was eating up her own space by moving her into his room. "I will always give you the best life that I can offer you sweet girl, but I cannot do that when you are away from me. I want you close to me so that you can quickly fall in love with me. My patience is running out because every time I get to look at you, I feel like I could take you to my bed and make love to you without the care of the world. "Jade did not turn to look at him because she was already embarrassed with those unfiltered words that came out of his mouth. " I will leave you so that you can rest. The room has everything that you may need and if you miss me, I will be in my room." With those words, Alvin walked out of the room leaving jade who still stood at the centre of the room.
When Jade heard him close the door, she took a few steps and stood by the window where she slowly held the curtains and moved them aside so that she could have a small space to see outside. As she looked at the large beautiful garden she wondered if her friend Lydia was waiting for her letter to know if she had reached the border safely. It had been three days and she was sure that her friend was getting worried. She needed to get out of this place without the king's knowledge, but how? It would not be easy to run away from him but she knew it was not impossible either. "Papa help me!" She said as she held the pendant on her neck.
Her father had always helped her when she was in trouble but without him, she wondered how she would get herself out of that mess that she got herself into. After standing by the window for so long, her eyelids started to feel heavy and she walked to the bed and slept without covering herself. As she continued to sleep without any care of what was happening, a silhouette of a human stood at the corner covered with a black croak. "Master, she has the chain. It is her." The man said and vanished without touching the sleeping Jade.
