"You dare to mess with her, mess with me, and expect to walk away free?" a voice intoned from behind the group, its owner materializing before Kan's eyes.

Recognition dawned slowly as the figure took shape.

"You?" Kan whispered, his voice laced with disbelief and apprehension.

Kan couldn't believe who was standing right before him, leading the men that just assaulted him. It was Ralph.

"Thought you could mess with my girl and get away with it, huh?" Ralph sneered, his voice dripping with malice.

Kan's eyes narrowed, his jaw set in determination. "Keyla chose her path, Ralph. And she's not worth the trouble."

Ralph's lip curled into a snarl. "You think you're fucking tough, huh? Beating me up the other day was a mistake, Kan. Now, it's payback time."

Kan didn't budge, his confidence unwavering. "Bring it on, dude. Some mistakes are bound to repeat themselves, and I fear neither you nor your lackeys."
