Chương 31: A Tale of a Certain God

"Introduce yourself, Fenil." I said.

Fenil looked disgusted, yet she complied with my order.

"I am Fenil, a fenrir and master's beloved." she said, bowing at them like a prestigious noblewoman.

But, beloved? What does she mean about that?" I wondered.

Arthur stepped forward and introduced his comrades.

"I am Arthur Evansworth, and these people are Rin Huntersky, Lucas Vanter, Tate, and Rosalie Roltur." he said, pointing at his comrades one by one as he introduced them.

"I see. Please do not slow down my master, or I would be the one to kill you." Fenil said in a serious manner as she stared at them unwaveringly.

Did she just threaten them? But I guess she has a point too; I don't need people who would slow me down in my progress toward achieving my goal. Fenil is nowhere to be compared to the likes of them since she is a fenrir. But I hope these guys won't cause trouble for me." I mumbled in my head.

"Do not worry, Miss Fenil; I assure you that we will not slow you down, especially when we have been spared and accepted by Sir Heinz." said Arthur.

Fenil flinched in anger and said, "What do you mean by Sir Heinz? He is now your master, so call him Master Heinz!"

Fenil is really the definition of a loyal follower.

Arthur and the others gulped and nodded.

"My bad; I apologize for my rudeness, Master Heinz." Arthur said, lowering his head before me.

"Fenil will take care of you guys; I still have some business to settle." I said, leaving the authority over them to Fenil.

"The fenrir that we tried to kill yesterday is going to be the one that will supervise us?" Rin mumbled in a whispering tone.

"We have no choice, Rin." said Lucas.

I could hear them clearly, so I stopped and reminded Fenil.

"Fenil, don't do any unnecessary acts, alright? I trust that you treat them properly." I said.

Fenil nodded and began organizing her thoughts on how to handle them.

"Follow me." she said.

Arthur gulped. "Where are we going?" he asked.

"You haven't eaten anything yet since last night, right? Follow me so that you can eat." Fenil said with her back facing the others.

"I see, thank you, Miss Fenil." Rosalie said, who could not handle the frustration of her belly rumbling all the time.

Fenil stopped and did not turn around.

"Let me remind you, I am the master's beloved. So if any of you tries to seduce him or do anything that would hurt Master's feelings, I will not hesitate to kill you and eat your corpse." she said without looking back.

The four gulped and flinched, reminded of the sight Fenil had shown them last night, and replied altogether.

"Yes!"

And with that, they all left, heading to where food was being distributed.

Meanwhile, I went to Chief Eric's location and saw him managing the people that were rebuilding the houses.

Chief Eric noticed me and waved at me.

"Good morning, Sir Heinz." he said, and he greeted me with a smile.

I smiled slightly, waving back at him.

"What brings you here? Are you here for the information you've wanted to ask?" Chief Eric said.

"Yes, but it seems you are busy, so I'll come back later." I said.

"No, no, no. Wait a minute." he said and surveyed the surroundings, looking for someone.

"Gale!" He yelled, calling over a certain individual.

A man with black hair, a muscular body, and a scar on his face came running towards Chief Eric.

"Act as my replacement for the meantime; I have something to discuss with Sir Heinz." Chief Eric said, tapping Gale's shoulders.

"Yes, Chief!" Gale said, lowering his head a bit.

"Now let us go somewhere quiet, Sir Heinz." Chief Eric uttered, holding me by my shoulders.

And so, we walked to a certain house, which was still intact and undamaged by last night's occurrence.

We went inside, and I saw a circular wooden table with four chairs beside it. Chief Eric then sat on one of the chairs.

"Please have a seat, Sir Heinz." he said.

I took a seat and faced Chief Eric directly from the opposite side of the table.

"So, what questions do you have in mind? I will answer them honestly." said Chief Eric.

"Please tell me about the Slavirs. Why are they being framed as villains that could harm the continent just because of a certain foretold legend." I asked.

Chief Eric lowered his gaze and stared at the table for several seconds.

I kept wondering if this legend was false since there are monarchs capable of killing them in an instant, and yet they did not do anything and just left the slavirs.

"What you said about us posing a threat to this continent is true." he said while I listened silently.

"By the time I received the blessing of the Slavir, my mana energy grew threefold compared to a normal person. And I have received the ability of truth discernment. I am able to discern if one is telling the truth or lying, able to know their intentions, and I can somehow use precognition ability, which gives me an advantage in terms of combat." he said and paused, waiting for my response.

"I see; truly a rare ability." I said, signaling him to continue.

"But the legend that has been foretold is only described from the non-slavirs perspective. Slavirs are normal people too and were granted the knowledge of ancient magic, a magic that has long been forgotten, which caused the people to see us as a threat. And one of the knowledge we've been granted was learning about a certain God that would come to the living realm." he said in a serious manner as he looked directly into my eyes.

"But that God is the personification of catastrophe." he mumbled, looking at me.

A certain God? Is what he's saying true, Grand?" I asked through thought communication.

[I do not know, but there is no God in this world.]

[The only lifeforms that are comparable to a god's position are the Obsidian Dragons.]

So does that mean that a dragon's going to the living realm? Is it possible?"

[I do not know, but I have concluded based on what happened to you back then. A dragon cannot pass through the gates of the living realm.]

You mean that barrier that acted as a border, right?"

[Yes, but it is still my hypothesis since I do not know anything about the dragon's capabilities.]

I see, so a dragon might come down here, and that's when the monarchs would move."

"Umm, Sir Heinz?" Chief Eric muttered, waving at me.

"Oh, sorry! I got distracted for a bit." I said.

"No worries; should I continue?" he asked.

"Yes." I replied.

"And so, with that certain God's arrival, once the slavirs pledge their utmost loyalty towards him, they will be granted an evolution which will give the slavirs immense mana energy and strength. That is what's been told to us by the Slavir's ancient magic. So us posing a threat to their perspective is much rather true, since we all are still people from mankind who can be blinded by emotions. Whether we point our hatred to them, once we obtain the evolution that's been said, we'll likely be the cause of this kingdom's, no, continent's demise." Chief Eric said, pointing out the possible facts that made them look like the bad guys. Since they are also people who possess emotions.

People who are treated badly and somehow obtain immense power, making them capable of taking revenge on those who mistreated them, would surely be portrayed as a future threat if not handled immediately.

"I see, but still. This God you're talking about hasn't come yet, right?" I asked.

"No, he has come. Slavirs have the ability to know if the God has arrived, but we do not know yet who he is. But all of the slavirs have the same connection, leaving our intuition true when this certain God arrives." he said, explaining it properly as if they have an alarm that would somehow activate once the God they have mentioned entered the living realm.

"I see." I replied.

"And with the captured slavirs, once they tell the people that the God has arrived, I'm sure that the four kingdoms would do everything to ensure their people's safety, even if they were to cause a massacre of all the slavirs existing in the kingdoms."

"I get what you mean, meaning that the four kingdoms would start to act anytime by now, right?" I asked, concluding that the kingdoms have started hunting all of the slavirs existing in this current age.

"Your presumptions are correct, so with your protection, I felt relieved somehow. You have strong mana energy, capable of deploying a barrier alone. And you were also able to fight against that murderer and defeat him with your strength. With you here, I'm sure the people of the village feel safe." Chief Eric uttered, displaying trust that I'd protect them.

But it wasn't my intention to protect them if it came to this. Well, I have already made an agreement with the chief; I can't just turn my back on them in this dire situation.

I'm sure it'll take time for them to reach this place, and knowing that the fenrir still exists in their thoughts after Arthur and the others do not return I'm sure they will not act hastily in invading this forest. There are still a lot of things to fix. I need to make this place and its people capable of fighting.

I feel like a lot of frustrating things will happen. I'd be reforming this crappy village into something that is capable of handling any attempted siege.

I looked into Chief Eric's eyes and smiled slightly.

"Do not worry; I'll protect you guys." I said.

Chief Eric smiled, knowing that my intentions were true.

"But first, let's rebuild this village and turn it into a place where no one can invade us easily." I said to the Chief in a serious manner.

Leaving him to gulp in suspicion as to what I'm planning.
