Mill's second day of classes somehow felt longer than the first. Though, that may be because he had other things on his mind all day. Those other things being Karl of course. Mill's mind was completely filled with worry for his friend, but he couldn't go see him until after his classes. Mill sighed as he stood apart from his opponent. He was currently in his final class, Find Your Weapon, and was in the middle of a spar. Mill was currently wielding a shield against his opponent that was wielding a mace.
"Yo man. Am I boring you or something?" Mill looked up at his opponent. "Huh?"
"You sighed at me. Are you saying that I'm wasting your time? That I'm boring you?" Mill was very confused by the sudden aggression from the person in front of him. "Did I do something to offend you?" Mill's opponent had a look of disbelief on his face. "Wooow. So, you're saying that what you did shouldn't be offending to a fly like me. That there's nothing below me so I'm insulting to just the breath of air that left your mouth."
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Mill was now completely confused. Why is this dude getting so riled up. "You keep saying things that I never said and then saying that I said them." Mill was now completely unguarded as he tried to understand the situation. "You may not have said it but you know damn well that you meant all those insults!" The boy gestured to Mill with his mace.
"No, dude. I really think that you have the wrong idea." By this point the rest of the class started to surround the two as they were being quite loud. "What's happening?"
"Mill said that Kaleb was boring him, and he got upset."
"Damn! He said that to his face?" The class started to pass around their own theory based off the small amount of information that they had. "I'll have you know that I'm still a Myth-rank you nobody! So, if anyone's the bug, it's you!"
"Oooohh." The class reacted and waited for Mill's response to the insult. Mill, of course, was still the most confused person in this moment. "Dude why the fuck are you talking about bugs. I don't even know your name so how could I insult you?!" Mill was just speaking straight but that's not what the class took it as.
"Damn my man just said that he doesn't even know your name Kaleb. He really just sees you as a waste of space that not even words should be wasted on." Mill was shocked that people could bring such simple words so out of proportion.
"That's it you little shit! I'm taking you down for real." Mill watched as his opponent's arm grew along with the mace. "Wait wait, the instructor said no abilities!" Mill tried to talk Kaleb out of it, but he seemed to have made up his mind. "I'll crush you!" Seeing that there was no hope in convincing him to stop Mill ran quickly dived to the side and managed to avoid the attack. He then ran at Kaleb as he recovered and managed to get a get a strong kick in knocking Kaleb back a few steps. Kaleb charged at Mill fill with rage from Mill's no existent insults.
Mill didn't expect the sudden charge and instinctively raised the shield. Kaleb swung his mace directly at the Mill's shield when he suddenly grew his arm and mace again breaking through Mill's guard. Mill stumbled back and fell down giving Kaleb the chance to shrink his arm and close in to attempt to deliver another blow, but Mill was ready. He quickly swept Kaleb's legs and pushed himself off of the ground to his feet and continued the attack.
Before Kaleb could recover Mill was already on top of him and delivered a swift kick to his sternum completely knocking the wind out of him. Kaleb fell over and Mill stabbed his knee into his stomach and kept him on the ground. "Look dude, I don't know what problem you have with me, but you lost. Just stop it." Kaleb glared at Mill for a few seconds before conceding. Mill got off of him and class ended.
"Mill." Darren waited for Mill by the door and they both went to visit Karl. they were quiet during the walk for a few minutes before Mill broke the silence. "Did you see what happened to him yesterday?" Darren turned to Mill. "What do you mean?"
"You were the one that called me over, so I was just wondering if you saw what happened to him to get him into that state." Darren waited a few seconds. "No, I didn't when I got there, he had already been like that so I just texted you because it's all that I could think of doing to help him."
"So, you saw him like that and all you could think of doing was calling me? Not taking him to get some help." Mill didn't mean any criticism by this statement he was just shocked. The moment that he saw his friend in such a state he couldn't think about anything other than getting him some kind of help, so he just didn't understand.
"Look, Mill. You may have some sort of moral code that you just instinctively stick to but me and Lua don't. We can't go help our friend when he's injured without thinking because we'll be more frozen from the sight in front of us! I'm sorry if we disappointed you but honestly you have no right to be disappointed when you have no idea of about the things going through our heads!" Mill was shocked to say the least. He had known Darren for years, but this was the first time that he had snapped at him like this.
"Look, tomorrow are the first party assignments, and a senior told me that we'll be in the same groups as we were in during the entrance exam but can change afterwards. I think it would be best to squash this beef for now and deal with it later." Mill was quiet. He didn't know what to say so he just gently nodded at his friend's suggestion. "Good. We're here now so let's just try to get through this without any incidents." Mill let Darren go into the building before him.
"I've only been here for three days, and I've already gotten into a fight with my best friend. Maybe I'm the one in the wrong here." Mill took in a deep breath, put on a smile, and walked into the building to meet with Karl. When he got in the room, he saw Darren and Lua both sitting next to the bed and the man himself was sitting up.
"Glad to see you're awake." Mill walked to the end of the bed as he spoke. "Of course! My beautiful eyes needed to see the light again." Karl had a big smile on his face as he talked to his friends. "Honestly I know that I missed you guys, but I can't help but think that you all must have missed me more." The group of friends laughed. They all laughed like nothing was wrong, but a tension could still be felt in the air. A tension that the friends ignored to keep the illusion of happiness persisting. Everyone had secrets and it would take more than just friendship to get them out.
For now, though, it would be best if it appeared as if nothing was wrong. It was best if they were all friends for a while longer because there was a chance that this may be their last chance to be friends.
