It's the first day of attending the adventuring academy and thus starting a new life. Most people are worried about how they'll adjust or they're thinking about what classes they should take to move forward to their future as an adventurer. In other words, most people are worried about how they will present themselves to others and to themselves for the rest of their time here. Then we have Mill Kabrok, the 16-year-old boy that is currently castrating himself before a girl that he had bumped into and had proceeded to embarrass himself afterward.
The girl in the green shirt that Mill run into, on the other hand, was currently gently stroking Mill's back to try and cheer him up. "Hey, it's alright. I'm not bothered by you bumping into me accidently and then immediately calling me cute afterwards. It was actually really nice." Mill kept his forehead planted firmly to the ground. "I know that you keep saying that, but you do realize that you being okay with it makes it all the more embarrassing, right?" The girl's hand froze, and she thought about it for a second.
"Well wouldn't you apologizing to a girl whose name you don't even know about an accident that she isn't worried about to the point that she is trying to comfort you be that much more embarrassing than just having called her cute on accident?" Mill was now the one that froze for a second as he lifted his head off of the ground to face the girl. "My name is Mill Kabrok and I apologize for this entire situation." The girl lightly chuckled at Mill's rigid introduction, and she proceeded to mimic it. "My name is Lacey Kay Prometheus and I accept your apology." Mill and Lacey both sat rigidly as they stared at each other before they both broke and started to laugh.
"Well Lacey, I think that we've both reached a new level of awkward first meetings." Mill said as he stood up and reached down to help Lacey up. "I'm pretty sure that we passed that level when you slammed your head into the ground. We're probably in the hall of fame of awkward meetings by now." She took his hand for the second time since the start of the incident ten minutes ago. "We should probably head over to the coliseum to for the orientation, right?" Lacey said as she motioned for Mill to follow her. "I still can't believe that this place has a whole coliseum on campus."
"You're caught up on the coliseum? I hear that they have a whole field outside of the city reserved just for them!" Mill and Lacey continued to make small talk as they walked over to attend orientation all the while a familiar face watched from a distance from behind the entrance gate.
"Damn Mill. It's only day one and you've already laid into one of the best chicks that I've seen all day." Darren had just made it to the academy when he saw his friend with his forehead on the ground in front of a girl that he could only describe as mystifying. "I cannot allow for my friend to get hurt by a vixen that's out to trick him."
"What in all that the Blaze touches are you doing you idiot." Darren turned around and saw Lua staring at him with disgust. "I'm going to the academy like you Lua." Darren grinned at Lua showing his two tusks. "By hiding at the front gate and looking like a creep? What a joke. What are you hiding from anyway?" Lua looked into the direction that Darren was and saw Mill and Lacey walking and laughing and turned to Darren with a look of suspicion. "So, you were creeping on your friend while he talked to a cute girl. You're more of a pervert than I thought, Darren." Darren moved from his hiding position and stood in front of Lua.
"Actually, I happened to see these two while I was walking in and am watching over my dear childhood friend. Now let's go before we lose them." Darren grabbed Lua's wrist and started to chase Mill and Lacey. "Wait I don't wan-" Lua tried to protest but when she noticed that they were heading to the coliseum anyway she just followed behind Darren. "I can't believe I'm actually going along with this." Lua pulled her hand out of Darren's grip and followed behind him.
...
"Man, this place is crazy crowded." Mill and Lacey managed to make it to the coliseum on time and after some struggle they found some seats. "It's to be expected when you're the biggest and best adventuring academy in the city." Mill and Lacey were seated pretty far up in the stands of the coliseum but there were four giant screens showing the battlefield so that the people higher in the stands could see. Lacey had been looking at the screen when she saw Mill scanning the crowd. "Are you looking for someone?" Mill kept looking around but sat down now. "I'm looking for my party members from a few months ago actually. I haven't seen them this entire time and was hoping that I would find them here but..." Mill stopped looking around and noticed that Lacey was staring at him. "I'm sorry, I was talking to you and then started to focus on myself.
"No no, it's fine!" Lacey shook her hands and face quickly. "I was just curious because you were looking pretty hard. You must have really connected with them." Mill heard a trace of something in the way Lacey spoke and wanted to comment on it, but he felt a hand grab his shoulder. "Of course, we connected. We might have failed the exam if it wasn't for my man Mill." Lacey and Mill both turned around and saw Darren and Lua sitting directly behind them. "Darren! Lua! This is great! I didn't think I'd see you guys again unless I went to look for you." Mill was talking to both of them, but Darren was completely focused on Lacey the entire time making her feel slightly uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry, do we know each other or something?" Lacey tried asking Darren to get herself out of this strange situation and Darren spoke, "No, we don't." but he immediately returned to his silent analyst of the girl. Lacey watched as Lua grabbed Darren by the neck and forcing his head with a smile. "I'm sorry my name is Lua Mack and this idiot is Darren Pollo. He was just confused and thought that you were currently trying to enter a relationship with our friend Mill there." Lacey and Mill exchanged glances and looked back to Lua and Darren. "Well, we are in a relationship."
"I know. It's rude to assu- Wait what did you just say?" Lua looked to Mill for confirmation, and he nodded. "She said that we are in a relationship. Is that strange?" Lua felt like the world was a strange place all of a sudden. "When did you two meet?" Lacey and Mill spoke simultaneously, "Around 30 minutes ago." Lua's eyes widen at these two strange people. "How could you start dating someone after only knowing them for 30 minutes?!" Now Lacey and Mill looked confused.
"We're not dating, Lua. She's just a friend that I made 30 minutes ago." Lua face changed after hearing Mill's response. "But you two said that you were in a relationship?" Lacey nodded. "Yes, as in we are two people that became friends. Did you think that we meant that we were in an intimate relationship?" Lua let go of Darren as she sat back in her seat. "No I- It's just that- I didn't-" Lua's face went red from the royal embarrassment that she had just undergone. "Wow, Lua. For someone that calls most people an idiot you sure are pretty stupid yourself." Mill spoke what was on his mind and he and Lacey started to laugh. Lua sunk in her seat and vowed never to speak of this moment again.
"Attention, future adventurers." The everyone in the coliseum's stands slowly started to look to one of the screens or directly at the battlefield where they saw a man standing. "I apologize for the wait, but let's get started now shall we."
"Welcome to the starting point. Welcome to the first step forward in the marathon that we call life. Ladies, gentlemen, and non-binary races alike. Welcome to the Golden Lion Adventuring Academy!" The crowd went wild as the orientation finally got started and their first day of training officially began.
