Chương 46: Collections of unique energy stones

When the elevator reached the 7th basement floor it seemed to stop. The man that had come with a helicopter seemed to also become serious when he walked out of the elevator. His expression did not seem to have the arrogant nature from when he had just met the seven individuals on the roof top.

"Supervisor, as you can see the development is not bad, and the few resources present are being utilized to by the staff in this place, but we lack enough experimental subjects. We can't just act like in the past, where we could go out on the streets and pick out the homeless, the results of this work need to be conducted in some order. But looking in that direction, it can be seen that the surviving subjects are adapting well to the experiment. The only problem is that it is difficult to replicate this and ensure that the results have no negative side effects."

Several glass rooms could be seen and each had a bed, on them individuals seemed to be under deep sleep. Each had different equipment attached to them, and the experimental subject being mentioned seemed to be them.

It seemed that the situation in this world was not as it seemed on the surface, considering that human experiments where being conducted and in each room a massive stone could be seen. They seemed to have different structures and even color, but something that was similar was the glow on them. More importantly, stones where similar to the one that Cheng Shan had taken in the cave gaining more than 1000 attribute points.

In other words, some people had already started to collect them and even seemed to be using this stones to conduct experiments as for the other uses, perhaps only those that where researching it could know. In this facility,every glass room seemed to have the stone, but it was encased in some unique container, explaining why the glass in the rooms where not melting or destroyed by the stone.

The stones where different and each seemed to have different characteristics, but one thing was for sure. None of the energy stones seemed to lack an attribute, either heat, cold or even corrosives. The nature of each seemed to vary, but the discussions seemed not to be aimed at the stones rather the people.

It seemed that some kind of experiment was being conducted funded by the rich using humans as experimental subjects.

Turning his head, the man that was referred to as the Supervisor looked at the other six guys and said,

"The six of you don't have to follow me around any further. It is not the first time I have been to this place, let her accompany me!" He pointed at the woman that took the lead in talking to him.

The other six seemed to be slightly relieved while at the same time envious but this envy was just temporary.

"Yes Supervisor!" The other six replied politely and slowly retreated leaving the woman and the supervisor alone. Looking at the retreating backs of the six, the man turned and faced the woman before asking, "You new here?"

The man asked this as he continued to move around observing the subjects in the cages. He seemed to be looking for something but the woman could not tell what it was, in the end she just replied to the question he had asked her, "Replying to the supervisor, I have been around for less than half a year."

Hearing this reply the man looked at her and and said meaningfully, " No wonder!"

But he did not seem to continue talking, as he went further into the lab, other than the cages, other sections seemed to have unique organisms being withheld in massive glass tubes.

He seemed to have entered another section of the lab, and in this place he was only able to stand against the glass barrier. He could not enter any further. But he seemed to have been used to it.

The reason he said to the woman 'No wonder', was actually simple. She was new and thus in a rush to impress the big boss, but the others where silent all this time, since they had been around long enough.

They knew that sometimes rushing to gain favor was not a good thing, in the end they where only responsible for storing and passing on the information obtained by the group of scientists in this buildings, and the requirements for the experiments are also left to them to deal with.

Only in cases where it is difficult to really get what is requested can they contact the higher ups. The woman did not know a lot and she took initiative to climb a ladder, but failed to realize that the others who have been around longer than her where not just generous to let her get the chance alone.

Them not meddling in this issue was already a major issue, and in the moment she had overlooked it.

The man did not bother to pay attention to the thoughts of this woman, as long as she managed to do things well her little ambitions could be tolerated. It was just that how many have been in her same situation, but where did they end up after not leaving up to the tasks.

This man had his own concerns too, he had come this time to represent some other powerful individuals, they would also not hesitate to replace him, if he did not deliver results. Seeing the development in the cages before reaching this section had already made his heart calm down. He was sure that he could use the already acquired results to claim some credit.

The only problem was that he was not the only one that was supervising some lab, other labs existed all over the world and where handled by different people. What they can discover in this place could also be possible to discover in other places, as such when their is progress it is best to share it with the ones in charge quickly.

"I'm afraid the others might also have some kind of breakthrough, it does not matter whether I deliver this results at the moment or delay slightly longer to gain even more through research. All I need to do at the moment is to acquire resources for them, and the test subjects are more important." The man seemed to be lost in thought, he did not even seem to be setting his eyes on the massive stones before him that where separated from him by the glass wall.

The materials used this make this glass seemed very unique, as it was not affected by the stones in any way. In a way it even seemed to have the ability to shield of against the energy in the stones. Cheng Shan seemed to assume that the energy was radioactive but that seemed to be far from the truth.

He had never seen any radioactive energy, as such it would be understandable for him to think that. More importantly, the characteristics matched with what he seemed to have read about radioactive energy. He just assumed that the other characteristics where not presented due to the state of his physique.

But he was not entirely wrong too, radiation and the energy being given off by the stones seemed to have the same characteristics. It was very fatal to those that had not practiced martial arts and if he was exposed to it earlier, he would indeed end up suffering from it, even the cells would be killed by it.

The situation was different though, since he had already gone further in the way of evolution.

"Go and collect data on the subjects required, as well as some strategic resources, I will give you another three months to provide me with results. " The man had a smiling expression on his face under the hazmat suit, but the woman suddenly felt a chill for no reason.

"I will do my best not to let the supervisor down." When the woman said this, the man nodded. He seemed very pleased with her actions.

"If so then get to it." The man spoke, as he send her away with his hands.

When she left, he turned his head, only to see another individual in the cage behind him seemed to be convulsing, before long, he stopped completely. The body had also become red, it was as though he had received surgery on all the parts of his body. The scars resembled surgical scars, but they where not.

The scientists in the room did not even seem to care about the life and death of the man, rather they where busy recording all the data about him.

The man watched all this without looking away, when they where done, the sound of the machines connected to his body had stopped making noise, as he had completely lost all vitality.

Depths of the forest.

Cheng Shan took a step forward, he seemed to traverse close to 20 meters. It seemed that he was even much faster compared to before, and the most important thing was that no footprints where left where he stepped.

He smiled as he approached the massive green water body before him.
